Note ABOVE is from a Forum in england and is not ME, Yet i have the exact same problem with my car and the way it idles and boost comes on and off in the range. Haveing read that, It seems this person replaced a few things to fnd out it was just the AFM, Id rather not spend the money on all unnessosery parts if the solution is only the AFM. If anyone else has encountered the same problem with their skyline and has fixed the issue please yell out. "Apparently its a common problem on skylines" And as ive only had it for a week now i have little idea about this car yet. Thank again!

Well This is a problem i found with my car, which on another forum explains down to a T. R33 GTST flat spot. The talkings over!!! Some months ago I became a newbie member to the Skyline clan. I bought a 14 year old R33 GTST, aparently standard apart from a catback exhaust. i bought it with a misfire at 4500 rpm and was assured it was "plugs or something to do with the MPH converter" Weeks later and having read soooo much "information" on various forums I booked the car in at the first of four! performace specialists that specialised in Jap cars and tuning. It would be wrong of me to name them, BUT the first three all failed to fix the problem, in fairness the third did tell me the problem but apart from fitting an after market ECU and re-mapping it couldnt fix the problem. The problem was this;- Having fitted a big bore down pipe and de-cat I had a free flowing and free breathing engine. The AFM was reading so much volume that it hit max voltage and at 4500 rpm retarded the ignition and richened the mixture. This had the net effect of dropping 65 BHP off the curve and didn't re-appear untill 6000 rpm. This is a list of things that were NOT the problem, as replaced or changed: Coils Plugs AFM Crank angle sensor ECU Ignition amplifier Knock sensors. The solution:- Re-map the standard ECU to ignore what the AFM is telling the ECU. Whats ur thourghts?

Hey guys, I really need my AFM re-maped Via ECU, AS my r33 skyline has a flat spot between 4500rpm up till 6000rpm< Does anyone know of places in melb / vic that can do this, It would be much help, Thank you,

Yeh mate, Evo's are right up there in level of respect on the road. lots of fun, i could imagine u kill lap times on track days haha!! hrrrm well i might sign up some time soon, i just imported the skyline fully stock i think some grandma in japan had it previouse, has untouched origanal skyline mates in it, car is micky mouse inside and out with only 74,000ks on it. So need to do some engien work befor i embaress my self on the track. haha!

you could use my stock rims only problem is i currently use them to drive around on as i havent brought new ones! they are legal though, just got my road worthy last friday using them.

ahh rightio, I seen that allready too, just donno if its worth it, wat are the benifits of becoming a paying member! Ps like ur evo, I sold my red evo 9 not to long ago, I had a wrx to, But it had too mch under steer, evo was much better and "more reliable" my damn wrx blew 2 boxes. Just picked up my skyline last friday, they are dfferent. bit of fun but missed my RWD cars.

I agree with u, Yet I do belive after beng a P'plater couple of years ago, To this day i wonder how im stll alive wth the stupid shit i used to do. I think the NEW laws towards P'platers are good, Only because 755 Of male P'plate drivers are "wreckless" I mean How in the hell do P'platers manage to flip a car onto its roof doing donuts in a local court? This is just rediculess. Unfortunetly it does wreck it for the remaning P'plate drivers. but its for the best. Then by the time ur fully licenced youll appreciate how cops seem to give u a little more slack so long as u arnt caught doing stupid shit. I get pulled over all the time and my car is modfed. but cause im never doing stupid shit anymore or at least not where i may be caught they complement my car and let me go. Its simple. be smart. grow up.

I agree with this, Its one of those sensors that are telling ur engine to behave that way. it was happenng to mine to exacty the same. turns out it was my AFM.

I donno i seen that new tnt stuff that gettng really popular, The Mirror tint? Its getting big in melb now, speshly in dandenong, its basicly like one way windows. can only see out not in, i donno how people get away with it.

I live in south east suburbs and you hear of this stuff happening all the time. Ive seen them do worse my self. They will pull up at the lights , Rev their engien and then take off. Prehaps only to speed limit but they expect u to race them and then exceed the speed limit and then they Dik ya. Put it this way, Dont race any holdens, Besides wats a holden got on any skyline... Nothing but big fuel prices.
