  1. Hey guys, just wondering if you could help me out on something I'm confused about. The RTA system for interstate transfer is so complicated. They couldn't even explain it on the phone to me themselves without being confusing. Long story short I'm getting an Audi sedan from QLD. The car is registered in QLD and has a roadworthy there. I know the rego has to be cancelled regardless of how much is left. My question is what's involved in NSW when I drive it down, what do I have to do and how much would it cost? One other question is, since the car is still under rego, can I transfer it to my name in QLD even though my license is in NSW and then transfer it in NSW maybe 2-4 weeks later since I'm busy. This way the car is in my name and not the previous owner (and he would want that since I could do traffic offences and such in his name if he doesn't transfer rego) but is it actually possible for a NSW resident to transfer a car into their name in QLD. If not how long do I have when I bring the car to NSW to do the whole blue slip, green slip and rego. Thanks guys I really appreciate any help you can give me.
  2. Seems like you do them too. What would you say the ballpark is for a full vehicle wrap?
  3. Does anybody know of a place in Sydney that does vinyl wrapping for cars and how much would an average car cost to do? It seems like the best way for a colour change since it's easier, cheaper and you can just peal it off, it acts as protection for your paint because if someone keys your car you just peel that section and redo it whereas on a car it's a headache. Cheers guys.
  4. wow. didn't realize the plates have an impact. mine wasnt a plate issue 100% but it's interesting that plates with history make a difference. the cops now have that automatic plate recognition which scans alot of plates a second and runs them through the database. I guess they've set some parameters and some being plates with driver reckless history.
  5. Would you guys say the Evo gets pulled over less? I have a friend with an STi and I used to own an STi as well and they probably have most of the attention. NOT getting pulled over in my STi was just madness, I would actually get worried that something happened to the police or they're in danger since they're not here to pull me over The STi is the worst in my opinion by far. How about the EVO though guys because I've never owned one. I think they look less conspicious and don't have that signiture sound of the STi and are 4 doored.
  6. Well the law is about the speed not the "boost pressure" or RPM. If the speed is 110 you can do 0-110 as fast as you want as long as you don't break 110 so if you did get fined for that I would contest it. Well they do protect us and not all of them have a bad attitude although I do agree with you that the harrasement does have to stop. Don't get me wrong speeding and hooning should be punished but my problem is with the actual harrasement because of the car model not the behaviour of the driver, in other words if someone isn't speeding, isn't driving recklessly, isn't using a mobile phone or driving under the influence then they should pull them over just because of the car. I want to see Skylines, STis, Camrys and Corollas get the same treatment which is getting pulled over for a valid observable reason. I guess we can't do anything about it though, it's just how the world works I also agree with you on the pointless laws like defects for CAIs and even large changes like turbo upgrades and what not. These things have never been statistically proven to be dangerous unless they mean the extra power they give hence the extra potention for speed which is biased since a new Aventador has 700hp and does way over 300km/h but it's stock. The loud exhaust thing is a little stupid too since nobody will be parked on the side of the road revving and if they pass it will be a second of "loud noise" which semi trucks make as well which can actually be heard from half a KM away. Then there's wheels and coilovers and what not. I think valid defects are tires, leaks, hanging body parts not properly installed, sharp objects sticking out of the body work or the wheels (which is almost never seen) and other real dangers. I don't think power mods are dangerous and neither are exhaust or wheels and coilovers. We all know these things are there for revenue rather than safety which is sad to see.
  7. Hey guys, thanks for the feedback. As for the how many at night they were all at night except one which was around 11am. Night being after 5pm. I was pulled over 3 times on Friday (different areas) and 3 times on Saturday (different areas) and on Sunday at around noon. On Sunday the car wasn't searched extensively or anything just tires, noise, car height, engine mods and stickers. On the 2 nights before though they had me get out of the car and wait on the side of the road which checking the glovebox, under the seats, the trunk, the center console as well as all the usual defect stuff and breath test. The cars were definately different, I wasn't pulled over by the same car twice I'm sure of it. dkbcleaner - No haven't pissed any cops lately, I've never had any trouble with these sorts of things and I'm not a smartarse to them as I respect their job and what they do to protect us so no never pissed any off. I've found though your attitude doesn't matter, yes if you are one of those young thugs who run their mouth you'll be targeted but even if you're friendly or cooperative the stop doesn't get any shorter. I guess it's just procedure or something. PN-Mad - I'm 100% sure it's not a problem with the previous owner since he's my brother-in-law (I hope ), he's a plastic surgeon so unless he's done a bad job on a cop's wife or something then I doubt it and he imported the car himself from Japan. It's the first thing I thought of since I know cars get "blacklisted" if previous offenses or connections are known but there's just no way this car had history like that at least in this country. Noy - While it's a bit excessive I don't think it's harrasement I think they're just doing their job but I'm just curious why they're so afraid and paranoid about Skylines, again I understand some shady characters buy them and they have that whole "image" but I don't think a car should be pulled over based on profiling of the actual car rather the activity of the driver and how they're driving and their record. I guess the cops themselves can't do anything about it, unfortunately it's revenue raising and they can't pick on Ferrari, Lamborghini and high end Mercedes owners since they have alot of money and can make things happen while these cars are generally driven more by younger people who are less likely to file for harrasement or have any friends high up. It's the way of society I guess.
  8. Hey guys I'm just wondering what your experiences are with getting pulled over. I'm curious because I was pulled over 7 times in the last 3 days. Now my driving record is clean and when I mean clean I mean not one fine, parking ticket, speeding etc all my demerit points are there and I don't have a criminal record or any criminal history with the police, including when I was a juvenile under 18. Now I know GT-Rs attract attention but it's almost as though I get pulled over just because of the car and as soon as I see a cop car especially at night. I understand the police are just doing their job but it's insane the amount of bad attention this car gets. Now stops include opening the bonnet for a defect check and extensive around the car checks. One of the stops took 35 mins! The shortest was around 15 minutes. I have a friend with an E60 M5 and he has a supersprint exhaust which is definately not legal in terms of sound and yet he rarely gets pulled over and has never been spoken to about that exhaust. Again guys I'm not trying to sound like some rebelous delinquent but don't you think it's excessive? I mean I was asked about drugs in the car and the car was searched extensively which never happens when I drive my brothers Camry for example. To be honest it's unlikely that a drug mule is dumb enough to use a car as conspicuous as an R34 for drug hauling and a Camry would technically be more likely which then means that all cars on every stop should be searched for over half an hour. I'm scared to even drive the car now. Anyways share your thoughts and your opinion...
  9. yes that's what I thought too, I guess the stigma and general feeling about it just won't be right. thankfully like you said it's not a rare car and there's alot of good deals. This happened to be a very great deal but again I just feel right about it. Thanks for the reply mate.
  10. Well the latter doesn't exist anymore.
  11. Well the car was registered and used after so the plate thing isn't an issue. The car is all legal and registered now but like you said I do have a hesitation because it has that history. As for checking the car out I'm getting it thoroughly checked and making sure the electronics, suspension, engine and all round chassis has no issues like rust and what not. I do this anyway to any car so that's not the issue and it's actually pretty clean. It's not a recently stolen either, it's been registered for years and the owner now has maintained it well. As for the police question I know they check for the old plates but this car was stolen years ago and then auctioned off to who is now the owner who is selling it so no it's far from having the old plates or anything like that. My only concern is if the car will be some sort of suspicious black swan on the road or something because of this history which rationally I don't see why it should but I guess anyone in this position would have preconceptions about buying it. Thanks for the reply by the way mate
  12. hey guys i found a car I like and its a good price but its been stolen before. it's not now I mean it was registered after recovery and auction but on REVS its a previously stolen. will this give me trouble with the cops or anything. I dont see why it shoudl since the car is now legal and what not but im still weary because its sort of a black swan and i dont wanna end up looking like a drug dealer or something again i know i might not be rational about this and the fact that its regod and all legal it doesnt matter but hey, a history is a history and it never goes away. what do you think?
  13. yh haha I think I underthought this idea haha if anyone can do it Robbie can. I just thought it was a good idea since I've seen these engines being thrown at everything and they're good engines. i think the front diff thing would pretty much kill this idea would it not?
  14. I've seen alot of 350z and G35 owners and others do the VK56 swap and it's a great engine. My question is can you swap a VK56 into an R34 without replacing the transmission. I don't mean can it handle the power and torque, I mean can the gearbox actually bolt up to the engine. It would be amazing if the VK56 can bolt up to an R34 GT-R and keep the AWD while having the VK56. So what do you think guys can this be done...?
  15. thanks for the info and help ill contact him
  16. I want to import an R34 GT-R race car from NZ. It's not gonna be registered in AUS or driven on the road only on private track. Now importing cars is a big issue in AUS because of all the compliances and all and this is a race car and will never see the road so what are the things I have to deal with?
  17. No it's not sharp, doesn't make the car lower and the wing is small and blunt. Obviously safety hazards would be a defect for obvious reason. A friend of mine has a Boxster 986 and wants to get this bodykit from Poland which makes it look like a 987, now I told him that it might be a defect.
  18. Are bodykits a defect, like the Veilside RX7 bodykit which changes the car's look as opposed to just adding diffusers etc. What about the interior. I've seen an R33 with an R34 interior, is that a defect?
  19. lol at the chicks in the getz, you should have told them off about their top bloke Getz.
  20. lol at the kids hehe "do a burnout" "is it turbo" "does it go fast" but hey you're not exactly talking to an adult so dont be harsh, either ignore or go with it hehe. like this "yes kid its fast and it will do 400 km/h" their response would be "wow you're so cool when i grow up i want to be like you" you send them off with "stay off the streets and in school". see you've just made a difference, that kid will probably leave school the next day and become a shoplifter then take up ice and lsd while losing their virginity to an aids infested hobo or as they say these days "ganga".
  21. I said "LESS" about performance not "NOT" get your facts right and stop trolling. I also said cornering not engine power. I asked a question you don't have to get offended. The world doesn't revolve around you.
  22. I know and agree 110% but this particular project is less about performance and more about engine sound. It's complicated but I do need the sound of a V8.
  23. Can you do an engine swap though? Maybe an LS1, I know the engine bay is not exactly large. I know you can do V6 conversions but that's not worth it. How possible is it to drop like an Audi RS4 engine in, the 4.2 ltr V8. They're expensive but I want it to be a special project. I know I should be asking on the MR2 forum but it's not a nice forum (whatever that means lol). I wonder if you guys know. By the way yes the Mk2 is the W20.
  24. Hey guys is the mk2 mr2 a good handling car? i dont mean stock i mean with sways, rolls, coilovers, camber can it out handle an evo. and what i mean by handle not just predictability i mean outright grip. its a very light car sp yh. i know there are better cars but i need to know about this one.
  25. not at all mate though you cant take chances these days, if its been stolen from someone here that person would want to know about it right? this happened to a friend of ours once in that they bought the car and it had full rta papers, only thing is it wasnt the car on the papers and the car ended up getting confiscated and the person fled. no car and no money. i have advised my nephew to call the seller and get it worked out
