Yeah Passenger seat is where it's at. I let my mate drive my car once from my place to his joint. I backed it out of the garage and put it on the street, and turned the boost down to channel 2 on the EBC which was only 12psi. We drove sedately until the temps got up and then he asked if he could hit it. We were just coming out of a roundabout onto a wide open stretch of road (1 lane each way, but had big parking lanes on each side) and when he stomped it in 2nd I nearly lost my shit. It sorta almost took my breath away, I made him pull over straight away so I could check the boost controller and couldn't f**king believe it when it actually read 12.2psi. Major difference in the perception of speed and accleration from driver to passenger and I can now understand why people get out of my car shaking.

Cams are always worth it. It's basically like making your head artificially breath more. I think of it as a cheaper alternative then a port and polish to gain more head flow. That sounds f**ked up. Were the cams dialled in properly with adjustable cam gears? I have always gained power right through the rev range when upgrading cams. I made an extra 7rwkw peak but had another 21rwkw of midrage from 3500.

Yeah we gather the fact that pressurised air won't damage metal compressor fins. I am much more worried about the shock loading on the bearing cartridge as the wall of pressurised air hits the rapidly spinning compressor i.e. your simple tests mean shit (thats why I raised you 1 bunny)

Go for a 25/30 setup. It will cost you about the same and be ess trouble as trying to build your RB27 and you will have a much better engine for further improvement.

Selling RB25DET which has some blow by. Engine has approx 100,000kms and has has the major service done ~ 4000kms ago. Still has good oil pressure (100psi+) and no knocks and runs fine as I have been driving it around until it was pulled out. Engine is complete including injectors, coilpacks, exhuast manifold ect - $600 ono. Also have an RB25DET head complete. Has slight damage where a piston made contact and bent in valves in cylinder 6 - $250 ono. R33 GTR Intercooler - VGC - $200 ono RB30ET Hypatec Forged Pistons - Brand new in box with Hastings moly file rings Pistons come with ceramic coated crowns and teflon coated skirts with a CR ~ 8.5:1 Selling due to a change in my desired CR - $1000 ono RB30E Head. Only needed the block for the 25/30 build so have head complete with manifolds, fuel rail, injectors, CAS, Dizzy etc - $120 Pics on request.

Yewoo!!! I was hoping that would be the case. Even If I had full boost 700rpm earlier I would be very happy. Al, full boost by 3000rpm would be pretty insane I take it? What size rear on the GT30? 0.63? And what was your power output? The reason I didn't list my turbo specs is because they are a bit sketchy... It was a HKS TO4S which I have rebuilt twice, the second time with a full ball bearing water cooled core. Each time it was rebuilt the housings had to be machined and a slightly larger compresser/turbine needed to be fitted. I think it's a GT30 comp wheel and a largish TO4 Turbine of some description. Front cover is 0.6 A/R, rear is 0.63 A/R and the turbo is on a mid mounted HKS cast manifold with HKS 38mm gate. Turbo made 380rwhp on stock RB25DET with cams @15psi with full boost ~4100rpm, so I think the RB30 will be a midrage monster with this setup. Originally I was going for Mahle 9:1 CR pistons but couldn't get them so ended up going with the Mahle 8.2:1. Will the drop in CR make a noticeable difference to turbo spool? I have heard that a few guys have had some trouble with pinging at highish power levels with the 9:1 CR and end up having to pull a fair amount of timing out to avoid this. What are the majority of people using as a static CR?

Hey guys I am nearly finished with my 25/30 build and something that has had me guessing is how soon I will have full boost compared with the RB25DET. The only changes will be a little head porting, a genuine Greddy intake manifold and Q45 throttle body. What’s the general consensus on spool time with identical setups compared to an RB25? I would hope to see full boost 500-700rpm earlier with a 8.2:1 CR RB25/30 over the RB25DET. My setup on a stock RB25DET with a set of cams (these will be used in the 25/30 as well) saw 1 bar of boost by ~4100rpm. Is it out of the questions for me to make 1 bar of boost by 3300rpm based on the details above? Those of you that have kept similar setups from RB25-25/30 post up your results so I can stop trying to estimate my spool time, response and average power. Cheers.

That would have been airfreight? And it's not based on weight alone. It's called CHARGEABLE WEIGHT, which is calculated with a formula. i.e. 100kg of feathers will have a greater chargable weight then 100kg of lead because the feathers take up more space in the aircraft so you have to pay more. (lame example I know, but thats how is works)

Why bother with ISPM15 compliant packaging? There is nothing to comply to. He's importing into denmark which has no natural boundries so QUARANTINE (not customs) risks are null and void

You mean FCL - Full Container Load Thats not cheap. An LCL - Less than Container Load shipment is what you want. If you are going to be shipping less then say 10CBM then LCL is the way to go. If you have MORE than 10CBM then an FCL would be the best bet(even if you only half fill it) because you will pay minimum charges on each CBM when shipping LCL but a set rate for FCL. Basically to make it all simple: 1) Contact a freight forwarder and tell them what you want to do. (number of packages, weight, Cubic dimensions, load port+destination port) 2) Discuss with chosen freight forwarder what services they can offer you (door to door, door to port, CIF, DDU etc) 3) Contact an automotive wrecker in Australia and make sure they have "X" amount of RB30 engines for you to purchase. 4) Contact your freight forwarder and advise them of your purchase and either do an International funds transfer to pay the wrecker or sign a letter of authority for the freight forwarder to act on your behalf and pay/collect engines from the wrecker and transport to forwarders depot for export pack. 5) Freight forwarder will then arrange for overseas export. They will have an agent in your country that can arrange the delivery of the engines to your door. It's not that hard.

There is definately no boost leak? How do you know it's running 17psi? Is that the reading from the EBC or dyno software?

Fair enough. I emailed Dan yesterday and he replied with a detailed response including costs etc. I was pretty happy with his suggestions and will more than likely be getting him to do the build. I am located in brisbane - Northside.
