So I Dropped A Rod In Cylinder 6
09ONE_32 replied to 09ONE_32's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Yes, yes they did. Also when the rod broke, the piston continued up into the head and took a chunk out of it (not too bad though). My rebuilt T04 <1500km now has some pretty nasty co-axial play in it. And some "glitter" in the exhaust housing -
Hey guys, I am in need of some advice. It all started when I was making my way out to QR for a drift practice on Sunday 21st of November I think it was. Coming onto the Ipswich motorway I was in second and gave it a stab and a clutch kick, everything was going fine and dandy until I hit third and then BANG shake rattle rattle grrr (all kinds of nasty noises) I clutched in and the engine died instantly. I was rolling with the clutch in trying to re-start it, but it wouldn't even turn over Got towed to my mechanics, and then he went to hospital for 2 weeks. So finally we have the engine apart, and the rod in cylinder 6 twisted and then snapped (will post pictures, I'm using it as a paper weight at work). Here is where my problem lies. The engine was a decent piece of gear (or so I thought) It was a stroked RB25DET with forged internals, big set of cams, HKS cast Manifold and an early HKS T04 kit. To get me back on the road quickly I am thinking of putting an RB20DET back in (car is an R32) while I build up an RB30DET. What I want to know is what are your opinions on this? Another idea was to put a stock RB25 back in while I build the RB30. But RB25's are expensive and hard to source at the moment, and I am only going to be ripping it out in less than 6 months anyway. But how much am I going to have to change to put the RB20 back in? Will the exhaust manifold bolt back up to the RB20? Is the deck height that much difference that the cooler pipes will have to be modified? What about engine mounts and cross member? In essence I would prefer to put a RB20 in, because they are cheap and they rev and I know I will thrash the living shit out of it and have a great time doing it not caring. If there is going to be way too much stuff to change I will fork out for an RB25 but then have to treat it with kid gloves so it is still in good condition so I can re-sell when the RB30 goes in. Sorry for the long thread, and thanks for reading.

Rebuilt Rb25 F/s

Still for sale? -
I was under the impression that the wheel departed the shaft because of excessive heat, which causes the material that joints the ceramic wheel to the shaft to fail. Not suggesting that I am right, but just what I have been told. Beat me to it. Had to have a piss while typing my post.

What about a 1JZGTE powered TE Cortina? It's Auto, has a GT30/40 and a Haltech.

Got Pulled Over While On Suspension
09ONE_32 replied to BLACKR's topic in General Automotive Discussion
He is trying to say that it will look a lot better if you have at least a short period of good driving to back up your statements of "I'm a good boy your honour" . And then you can also claim that you need your license for work, but you can't claim that if you are still suspended. -
Your instructor told you to go around the corner in second gear because this is the 4th step in the system of vehicle control. First is identify the hazard. Then check your road position and adjust accordingly. Check your mirrors. Gears/brakes. Indicate for the relevant hazard After completing the driving task continue on at the speed limit/with traffic flow. (I am doing a driving instructors course at the moment, and couldn't help)

Another vote for Matty Spry. I was an avid Chip Torque fan, however I believe there tuning and espically there service has gone to shit. They had my car for almost a week (including the weekend) and I was told that it would be done in one day. I had to take two days off work to get it there and home again (I drove from brisbane). And to top it all off I was not happy with the tune at all and they charged a f**king arm and a leg ($1200 odd dollars equates to and arm and a leg) This was about 4 months or so ago and I am still pissed off.

Hi guys, Just wanting to buy some skid/drift rims for my R32 and can't find any stock R32 rims for sale but a few sets of R33 rims. Do the stock R33 rims fit onto an R32? Or am I going to have to track down a set of R32 stockers?

How To Afford Your Skyline?
09ONE_32 replied to Boostkid's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I did work at Woolworths when I had my MX-6 Turbo, my S13 Silvia and my old R32 Skyline. I now work at a wholesale distributor and bought a TE Cortina with a 1JZGTE, I still have that as well as a R32 with a stroked RB25DET, and for my daily driver I have a KE70 Corolla. The only way I can afford to keep them all is I stay casual, as the pay is about $90 a week more then full time. I have never had a holiday in my life (time off I mean) because if I don't work I don't get paid. The overtime is good $30p/h for time and a half and double time $40 really makes me happy. However there is no guaranteed overtime so I take as much I as can get when it comes up. I am going to change professions in about a week though, and become a driving instructor. This should see me paying off at least one of my loans. Then it’s house time for me, all the while I am living at home with someone else (tenant) paying off most of the home loan I hope. -
Don't get a shitter just because everyone tells you that a Skyline is too dangerous. You won't respect the shitter...That’s a fact. But even worse is when you do get into your skyline you will have driven the shitter for 1-2yrs and will have no respect for the power a skyline will have because all you have done is thrash your shitter. IMO this breeds an even more dangerous situation. People will tell you (and you will believe) that because you drove a piece of shit before getting your Skyline you will be responsible. How can you respect something that you haven't driven/had any contact with, you will become complacent.

I agree with predator. Do what you want, it may be the right decision and it may be the wrong decision but you will learn from it either way.

I am chasing a PFC for a RB25DET, I know I missed the group buy but can you still get them?

^^^ Nah usually if it sounds like a rex it is not firing on all cylinders, a coil pack will die and give this symptom. Since you have just changed the plugs I would be inclined to thing that maybe a coil pack wasn't attached properly?

I was under the impression that, the particular event where Clarkson had the drift going was at relatively low speed exiting a second gear corner at full throttle. I thought he was demonstrating the ATTESSA system, and he was holding the drift in second gear out of the corner until the front gripped and immediately straightened him up. I have only seen the clip once on T.V ages ago before I even had my learners, that was all I remember.

I have a 1978 TE Cortina with a 1JZGTE, GT30/40, Haltech and a locker . I got the cooler to fit behind the stock grille and sprayed it black and all piping/siclone clamps. The exhaust is 3 inch turbo back but with a massive rear muffler and sounds just like a 4cyl below 2500rpm. The brakes are covered up with Ford AU 5 stud persuit rims, all my gauges are concealed (boost gauge in air-con vent temp gauges below dash on brackets). The only thing that gives it away slightly are the bonnet pins (needed because lots of structual material/bonnet catch taken out to fit cooler) and my 09ONE plates. There has been manya upset Clubsport/XR8 Owner and maybe a Porsche 993(?) owner as well. Most turbo imports don't take too badly to getting beaten and are pretty interested in the car. It just so happens it's for sale as well...

I swear by redline shockproof. I couldn't engauge second gear above 3.5k for about 3months until I changed the fluid to redline. You need to take it easy on the box to "wear in" the new oil (or so I found) because it got smoother and smoother the more ks I covered.

Going to need a little more information bud. Do you mean you don't get any boost till 3-4k? Is your factory bopost gauge reading positive pressure? is your car stock? mods?

to4b for sale - brand new

bump. $700 I need to sell -
I swear everyone one has owned a TC-TE cortina. I get all these people telling me about how well the 250ci cross flow went. Most people who do ask me about it expect it to be a 250ci turbo. I think it was XE Falcons that had a brief run of a turbo model, with the 250ci but I am pretty sure that it was injected.

yeah my car had bad surge with The CGC stage 2 high flow. Was quite dissapointed with the result really. Kinda got me nowhere. I had more power than stock turbo, but not as much as the boys who went full aftermarket. And these other 2 groups didn't have any surge problems.

My 1979 TE Cortina is a sleeper. Stock bumpers, still got the 4.1L badges on it. The exhaust is extremely quiet as long as you are under about 7psi or so. The only give away is the FMIC. No wheels just pursuit rims. Engine is a 1JZGTE with the 4 speed auto strengthened and shift kitted, manualised valve body and a 3000rpm stall. Single turbo conversion, 440cc injectors with a halteck. Around 300rwkw. I was thinking about putting a blanket across the parcel shelf and sticking an old mans Bowler hat in the corner. Then getting some kind of a bowls club sticker to put on the bumper. Possibly might go to the extreme of putting up one of those little louvers/blinds in the back window.

Since when is a R33 GTST quicker than an R32 GTST? Those times are all wrong, coming from someone who owned an R32GTST and an SR20DET S13 and was about to buy an R33. S13 = fastest R32 = next fastest R33 = slowest This goes for stock cars.

yeah this thread is hell funny. I have a spider story aswell. This happened in my daily driver a VL commodore. It was a bout 3 weeks after my schoolies, and as everyone knows the time between schoolies and starting uni is party central, was the best 3 months or so of my life. Went to a party on monday night, my friends and I met these chicks who were going to be staying at Stradbroke Is for a week. They invited us to come stay with them. On the tues we were running late (hungover something chronic) at my mates place packing all out shit into his car, I move mine out onto the street, get my stuff out of the boot and load it ino the car, as I turn back I see something "fall" from the tree above my car into the boot. When I go over to shut the boot, I see a ****off big Huntsman (a common trend it seems) sitting on the carpet in my boot. So what do I do??? shit myself and jump a few feet back, The boys are yelling at me to get in the car cause we are late blah blah. In a moment of indecision, I say **** that spider shit too hungover to deal with it now, we are late and I hate spiders, don't wanna keep the chicks waiting. So I stupidly slam the boot shut thinking that it couldn't get anywhere now could it??? Came back 5-6 days later. Totally forgot about the spider...until I jumped into my car. The inside was completely covered in web. Between the front and back seets from the roof to the seats, seats to windscreen, it was all a massive web. I freaked. There was no way I was getting back in the car. Mates dad came out/half the street did aswell. Cleaned out all the web and told me that it had probably just ****ed off by now and not to worry. One mate had to get home, and I had to drive him. He was not scared of spiders and told me that he saw it run out of the car earlier *coughs bullshit under my breath* . I finally got into the car. everything was sweet as until we stopped at an intersection. I felt something like a piece of string dangling against my hand/forearm. Thought nothing of it for a second then freaked cause I knew what it was without even looking at my arm (cause I didn't wanna see it sitting there). Problem was I really lost it, in the middle of an intersection, The spider had crawled up the steering collum and jumped onto my arm. When I felt it there I threw my arm up and the spider hit the roof and landed on my back (cause I was diving out of the car). I did the full "man on fire drop and roll" kinda thing. I was screaming and doing army rolls across the intersection trying to get the ****en thing off me. Stood up and started slapping to my head and generally trying to pull out my hair/face off. People have lost it at the other side of the intersection, everyone is pissing themselves one guy kicked his door open and was rolling on the ground laughing kinda trying to do my army roll thing...smart ass. Others are coming over to me to see WTF is going on. Meanwhile the light has gone green and my mate is trying to get me back in the car. ****ed if I was getting back in. Told him to take his lying spider loving ass home in my car and I would sit there till his bro came and picked me up in his parents car. One of the most embarrassing days of my life.

I have been told by a few good sources that those walbro pumps are pretty dodgy. The are really only rated at 400hp at the engine. Don't skimp on fuel delivery, it's not worth running lean and detonating. Go the 044 Cheap insurance if you ask me.
