  1. These are all valid points that have been raised However I have a SAFC on my R32 and it works like a charm. I wouldn't bother running an SAFC or any other management with those mods, because in my opinion it wouldn't be worth your while. I have a bigger turbo, FMIC, BOV, 550hp pump and SAFC and am making 320hp at the wheels. I don't think that I really need a Microtech or anything like that, and consider that SAFC's are going cheap on ebay for like $250 you cant really go wrong. You can do all the fuel related tuning with the SAFC and max out the duty cycle on your fuel system, and it removes your boost cut fuel cut and speed cut. I think thats all you basically need unless you are after really big power an SAFC will do fine. Sure you don't have the fine tuning as others might but then again you don't have the problems such as rough idle, stalling, hard to start because your std ECU runs everything else like it was a standard unmodified car. hope this helps.
  2. When I was looking to get an aftermarket turbo for my silvia (now sold to make way for skyline) I thought well and hard about getting a full aftermarket turbo such as a 2540. Had a chat to a few people and some were even kind enough to take me for a spin in their cars so i could gauge for myself. However I came to my own conclusion that I would rather buy a second hand turbo off an S15. They are steel wheel and ball bearing flowing 320hp in stock trim and can be picked up for around $600. Was planning on getting one of these then paying another $1000-$1500 to get it HI-Flo to 420hp. Not a bad price no external gate required and bolts up to same mainfold water and oil lines same fittings. Not seeing a problem here, just something to think about. hope this helps.
  3. Yeah if you change your standard filter and airbox setup to a pod then you will definately hear the standard plumb back BOV sound. However pod filter with no sourround is defectable and a couple of my friends have recieved defects for this but then again a number have just had warnings. If you decide to get an aftermarket BOV you will get backfiring if you are running manament which still requires an AFM such as SAFC or standard ECU. Aftermarket BOV won't make you run rich just that it vents air to the atmosphere that has already been "counted" by the AFM so the ECU accounts for that amount of air being there and when it's not too much fuel is injected and it flows through exhaust manifold, hits hot exhaust turbine and bang, you got nice flame out exhaust and fu(k off loud noise. hope this helps.
  4. It is most helpful if you are running more boost and don't wanna fork out for a new set of good platium plugs. This is because sometimes the stock iginition system isn't strong enough to provide a spark to the electrode if the gap is say .8mm but if it is say .6mm it is a shorter distance for the spark to travel so it is stronger and also a more powerful spark then say the same spark that was arking with a .8mm gap. hope this helps and makes sense.
