2 of the original Gibson Motorsport HR31 skylines will be at Morgan Park for the historic racing on August 3rd, 4th, & 5th. The cars are Rod Marklands #12 as driven by G.Fury, G.Seton, & M.Skaife, and Terry Ashwood's #2 as driven by J.Richards in the 1990 ATCC Both will be racing, practice Friday, qualifying and race 1 Saturday, race 2 & 3 Sunday. These cars are the genuine article and must be heard to be believed! Nothing screams like a full race RB20DET. The pits are open, so you can come and stick your head under the bonnet, in the boot etc. And say hello to the charming pit crew including yours truly. Hooks

It's a Gibson alright. If it is chassis #1, then it didn't win Bathurst. It was the 2nd car. Did win the ATCC 1 and a bit times though. I think chassis #1 was built from a road car if memory serves. Hooks

Maaaaate! You've gotta hear the HR31's from the outside! Just as awesome. They've got a real scream to them. On that particular weekend the track marshals voted the '31' the best sounding car out there. Also on that weekend were V8 Supercars, utes, and some other stuff. Hooks

The P.J. car in NSW is owned by Bob Tweedie. Now we've found good tyres for 17" he'll come out and have another go. Hooks

That Beaurepaires car is actually Rod Marklands car(chassis #1) That was after GMS sold it to Chris Lamden (sic?). Then Terry bought it and repainted it in Nissan colours. Then he bought Richo's 1990 car (chassis #5) and sold chassis #1 to Rod. As for historic racing, you can get anything and everything at these meetings. I've seen Ferrari F1 cars (1.5L turbo), Honda F1 cars, Tyrell F1 cars. Porsche 935's 962's 917's 908's. Ford F40's (real ones) Lola's open wheel & sports. Buick straight 8's, Corvette specials, cars with lever arm shocks and giant finned drum brakes. Cars where the driver sits right next to the fuel tank, where the drive is via twin chains from a rear mounted diff... I could go on for some time. Hooks
