Scientific Experiment Involving My Car And A Carrot
slinky-minky replied to slinky-minky's topic in Victoria
Scotty35- We're not usually allowed to keep peoples hands/finger...other parts they happen to take off. Scotty14- That's why I wanted to test it. I thought it sounded like bullshit. I figured there'd be a sensor, or that the motor wouldn't have enough to do it, but that BMW sunroof snapped the carrot off and flicked it high into the air. The neighbours guinea pig was out there this morning nibbling on it -

Birds & Basti- Similar thing happened to Brenton. The Capri window came up on his waste at like 6am and no one heard him squealing for ages, he eventually woke me up, and I had to go take the window down. He had some pretty bad bruising but no cuts, lucky for him the electric windows in it was yet another dodgy thing that the original owner had done. Mohsen- Isn't it usually KFC and Noodles?? -

Blags- Bloody fingers would have been cool but I wasn't about to put my fingers in there -

Ryan- Yeah, it's not something to be proud of, but what I was saying is if there is something in the water, then it's St Albans water not Bendigo water. Kris- I actually thought you guys might find it interesting. Lots of people find shows like Myth Busters enjoyable, and thought you guys might find it interesting that Japanese safety standards are obviously higher than those of Euro cars....which have a reputation of high safety levels Anyways if you don't like it, get over it and click on the next thread -
Scientific Experiment Involving My Car And A Carrot
slinky-minky replied to slinky-minky's topic in Victoria
No fingers were chopped off Blags, I used a thin carrot that was roughly the same thickness as a mans finger. I used a carrot because it's about as hard as a finger, same thickness and is circular. -

where the idea started was I read somewhere recently about someone chopping there finger off in a electric window and some crappy scary movie portrayed someone being cut in half by an electric sunroof and being that I'm a nurse I wanted to know what it'd do. Big Ugly Soap Box Racer is an FTO forum auto change for the word 'Skyline' -
Hi everyone, we did a little scientific experiment earlier involving a carrot.....and my car Below is a post Brenton put on the FTO forum with the results... This is straight off the FTO forum ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Not sure if it counts as work............ Found out that if you wanted to stick your hand in a closing sunroof dont stick it in a bmw 318i and if you want to stick your finger in a closing window you can stick it in a nissan Big Ugly Soap Box Racer or a mitsubishi FTO but probably better to stick your thumb in a bmw 318i. Used a carrot Window: best window was in the FTO and hardly put a mark in the carrot(probably why mine and others windows goe up then down sometimes in the cold and you cant use the auto up till it gets over a quarter of the way up) Big Ugly Soap Box Racer =2nd bmw =3rd Sunroof: fto was good and retracted as the window did, when it detected pressure(window and sunroof might have enough power to snap a mars bar in half) Bmw smashed a carrot in half and didnt even slow down. Nevertheless- prob not a good idea to test this out with any of your apendages that you actually want to keep, especially not on a 318i hahaha

Hi It was brush painted using duco paint (Brenton wanted it to be the exact same colour as the original) with a clear coat that hadn't finished drying, I spent about half hour with the hair dryer trying to bake the clear coat, but still wasn't dry in those pics. Up close it has that orange peel look but still looks pretty cool

Hi Everyone We got our model in the post today, so we put it together this afternoon. It was actually pretty good to put together, and surprisingly didn't drive me nuts. Here are some photos P.S: Model was painted with real Imperial Red touch up paint Next I'm thinking about tracking down a R34 Skyline...and maybe a BMW 318I and Mitsubishi TP Magna

Wtb N/a Car For 6k (vic)
slinky-minky replied to Chathi's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
--------------------------BRENTON's SUGGESTIONS----------------------------- fto's are great: an engine that revs over 8k easily because of the quad cams, high compression ratio, 2.25"exhaust standard, 24 valve, mivec, agressive tuned ecu, 2l v6 good for 150kw and 200nm of torque(well over the skyline 2.5 NA fpower figures though its a fifth smaller in terms of displacement)............... and thats just the engine, obviously great handling from sporty suspension, short wheelbase, low steering ratio(lock 2 lock), 16"rims standard then u got ur brakes and features/accessories. other feasible suggestions are Honda integra (try 4 import spec or type r) mx6(dont know if all are turbo, think same engine as ford tx5) toyota celica(newer 1s are pretty good(nearly 150kw) nissan s13 silvia but getting a bit old Toyota supra NA(good luck gettin 1 for 6k) sure i missed a suggestion or 2 -

Intergra's are also pretty cool. when I was looking I had a few I was looking for *FTO *Skyline *Integra *S14 (I found one that was like crazy cheap) *that new model Celica *Hyundai Tribune...but i was turned off by the word Hyundai -
okay thanks for the reply is it just being promoted through the Skyline forum?? Just he doesn't wanna be the only non Skyline there

Hey guys My partner is thinking about taking his FTO down for the day, and he was wondering whether there'd be any nice cars there His FTO has minimal engine mods but he's interested to know what it'd get....are they doing anything else as well as the dyno?? It'd be great to do a Db test on his sound system That's awesome that you guys raised so much for the bushfires, the red cross was a serious life saver during the fires, they took care packages around to everyone, and got some people I know back on their feet. We only lost our front lawn, but they still offered help getting our place cleaned up.

Car: totally stock 1999 Nissan Skyline R34 GT-V Gas of Choice: Regular from Apco....I like the sound of 1.17 per litre I was using premium but I keep having fuel stolen, so until they quit emptying my tank it's regular $ Per Tank: about $55 from empty Kilometers Per Tank (Based On Driving Area & Driving Style): about 450-500 kms of solid highway driving from St Albans to Bendigo return. Reasonable surface, decent amount of wind resistance. Other Comments: I don't drive like a grandma. I often overtake trucks Generally first off at a red, I don't like getting stuck in traffic because I'm to busy to wait Regularly serviced, low km's on clock,

That's awesome James, you did an excellent job

if you look hard you should be able to find a decent FTO (150kw so more than enough power, not heaps of aftermarket support, but they're sporty and fun) or for a little more a GT or GTV Skyline...I paid 8k for mine but mines a 4 door, and had heaps of reg left and rwc -
1994 BMW 318i E36 For sale I have my 1994 Oxford Green BMW 318i E36. This car is extremely reliable and economical but still powerful with its 1.8lt engine. The car has always been serviced and garaged. I am the 2nd owner. Odometer : 299,xxx km’s (mostly highway km’s) 4 new Bridgestone tyres were fitted in March 2010, Oil service last done in late April, 2010 Excellent fuel consumption; aprox 600km’s per full tank. 4 speed automatic. The car is in excellent condition inside and out for a 16 year old car, and inspection will not disappoint. Features: *immaculate scratch free oxford green duco. * Sought after beige interior * Power windows to all 4 doors. Duel controls for back passenger windows. *Alarm *Central Locking *Power sunroof * Driver Airbag *ABS (Antilock brakes) *4 speaker Alpine MP3 CD player with IPod connectivity *Pre-existing wiring for subwoofer and amplifier * Removable towbar *Tinted Windows *Electric Side Mirrors * K&N washable air filter *Runs good on fuel. You get about 600kms from a full tank *Electronic Service reminder, and other electronic warning lights * 3 Child restraint anchor points *3 way adjustable seats. Very handy feature as you can adjust the height of your seat, how far forward/back and the lean of the backrest. *Am also including 2 front car seat covers in beige velour, and a beige steering wheel cover. I think the beige seat covers and the steering wheel cover fit in great with the beige interior. Selling the car as is no RWC as between going to university fulltime and being a full time mum I haven’t got the time to organise one. Reg til November 2010 4x Rodney Jane Racing mags are also available to fit this car Currently have 4x stock BMW wheel trims fitted Am selling because I have purchased a new Skyline.

Thanks for the answer Graeme. I always wondered about that because a friend got in trouble for me having an open bottle of spirits in his car a few years ago, but I've never got in trouble when my partner is drinking in my car. Cowboy- wow...thanks for the indepth answer. are you a chef or did you steal that off the net?? I use an electric frying pan, so when it's on high it's something like 120c

That was a good article. thanks Chanz

I was just wondering if anyone had any idea as to how sensitive those breath tests are that Vic Pol use?? I wanna go to the supermarket but I tend to load my Carbonara full of white wine, most of it however should have cooked out. My dilemma though is I'm on my P plates and can't have any booze in my system

I'm with Origin and I believe they are ungodly expensive
