  1. Not really, I'm in the Eastern burbs but I'll go anywhere for a nice piece of blacktop. Can't wait to get it onto the Great Ocean Road! We should go back around Kinglake area for a blast sometime, you could introduce me to some nice routes up there I'm sure.
  2. Gee, that is one unique looking GTS! The two holes at the rear of the car are supposed to mimic the quick fill apertures as found on the Japanese GT racing cars. They (the real ones) are used to make filling the fuel tanks fast during pit stops. I've seen these adhesive plastic versions which can be stuck to the rear of the boot to imitate this look.
  3. Yeah I know, I don't really think it is the best car in the world, I was just so overwhelmed by the performance at the time, the words just spewed out all over the thread. And yes, money well spent indeed, just can't understand why people go out and buy BMW 316s or Merc 180s for the same price. Wanna hear the best part of this....................the GTR is actually the company car, I didn't think they'd let me buy it, expecting a Commodore SS or something, but couldn't be happier.
  4. Just had to post something 'cos I can't get the HUGE smile of my face. I've had the R33 for about a month now and till now, have not been able to really try it out. So I took a drive up toward Kinglake through some twisties to see what this thing was like. I have an MR2 as well and these are great handling puppies. But what came next absolutely BLEW ME AWAY!!!!!! I did a few runs up and down going quicker and quicker, then when I was planning to head home, I spotted two guys on Jap Superbikes head off doin' wheel stands down the same bit of road I was just running. So I had to have a go. Took me about a kay to catch em, but when I did. They decided they'd lose me............or so they thought. They took off leaning so hard into corners I though they were going to bail. The GTR stayed with them. The guy in front of me locked his rear on four corners hard under brakes, The GTR stayed with him. They did wheel stands trying to get the power to the ground out of tight HPs. The GTR almost stayed with them. And the whole time, the car told me exactly what it was doing and would just powerslide the tiniest bit out of corners, then just bang me back into the seat and haul once the fronts started working. Unbelievable!!!!! I just can't belive these cars!!!!! If they were not in front of me, I would have gone faster. I still can't believe how fantastic these things are!! I'm convinced!! These have to be the BEST cars in the world!! What else could do this?? And the car had me feeling so confident. I would return dripping wet in an on the limit run in the MR, but this thing is brilliant!!! It makes the MR2's steering feel as indecisive as Hugh Grant in a whorehouse!! You know what it's doing, when it's doing it and that it will sort it out (with a little help from you). Ahh...........................OK.............think I'm done.............. Just had to share it with people who'd appreciate it. Thanks for listening.
  5. Mornin all! Anyone know anyone who can do repairs on alloy rims with minor rim scrapes such as those created when becoming intimate with concrete gutters? And If so, do you know what they charge? I recently bought an R33 GTR and the wheels it had in the showroom were nasty 3 spoke uglies. I asked them to replace them with the original GTR rims but the only ones they could get were slightly scraped. Any help would be appreciated as these little things are as annoying as flies up your nose! Well that's just me. Thanks
  6. Well, I was just rolling through the forums and came across this problem, so I just had to join and add something which may be enlightening. I used to work for a performance workshop generally building cars for the Aust Sports Sedan Championships, but sometimes, we'd get street guys looking for street mods. Anyway, This lady came in driving an HR31 Passage with an RB20 Turbo and auto tranny, she'd been having problems with the running and she'd had the car to four mechanics with varying remedies. Some told her she'd need a new ECU, some said it was the engine, one said it could be the tranny! She was just about to spent upward of $1.5K on a repair until she brought it to us. Her problem? She would just be driving the car around and it would suddenly die. She'd pull over and leave it for a while and it would sometimes start again, sometimes not for a long period. She would start again and drive off and before she knew it, it would die again. I popped the hood and started the car whilst my boss started fiddling around with the wiring starting from the coil packs. It took all of 3 mins for him to kill the engine in the same way she described. Ignition would die, spark was lost, pump would continue to run. We performed the test again and again it failed. The boss went to the shelf and pulled out some contact cleaner and sprayed the contacts it the plug entering the trigger box. The plug was replaced and tested. We couldn't stop the engine again. She called back 2 weeks later to tell us it hadn't happened again and thanks as we did not charge her anything. Remember, 4 workshops could not find the problem and they tested everything in the electrical system............well....almost everything. Your prob sounded so similar I had to share it. May save you alot of money. Regards
