  1. Hi Mick I am in Malaysia on biz till the end of the week. The system is currently fitted to my car! I have the rear grill out, so you cam see the system with the blue on the Ti mufflers . I could take pics of it on the car when i get back, would that be sufficient? Kym
  2. Hi 35godzilla I have a full Willall titanium cat back system that is less than 12 months old and you can have for $1,600! It is available because I am slowly taking my car back to near OEM to trade it on next years updated model. Kymbo
  3. Just another possibility? Check the edges of the alloy rim for a hairline stress crack that runs down into the tyre bead seal area! It happened to me and after a HUGE argument with Nissan, they finally replaced the rim.
  4. Any other R35 owners going to QR powerplay next month.
  5. What's with the Mercury Motor Sport bashing? They have tuned and worked on my car since I bought it new in 2010 and, every single thing they have done on my car has been spot on and at a reasonable price! I have now had the car for almost 3 years with 42,000 's on the clock and it has never missed a beat. Even the NIssan dealer is complementary of Mercury's work when I take it in for a service. There's an old saying "thou protest too much". Sounds like jealousy and too much self interest to me? Always seems to happen too those who are the biggest and the best. Good old Aussie tall poppy syndrome at work again!
  6. The belief was that it would reduce underbody heat coming through the floor pan? And wrapping the cat back system was to help reduce heat soak into the transmission. OEM systems are heavily layered for heat insulation and noise. It would seem the tape idea was wrong for a titanium exhaust system and I now intend to remove it from the cat back system.
  7. Martin I am appalled by your over reaction to my stating the facts. Mercury Motorsports is my tuner and when Trent spoke to u on my behalf, you told him you are unable to warranty the part because it was wrapped in Titanium tape! I then asked Mercury to fabricate a replacement in Stainless Steel, which they did. This problem occured a few months ago. At that time I simply did not care. But, on reflection there may be safety issues with that part and both u and your customers should be aware. If not already, the problem with flange thickness etc should also be looked at? Plain and simple, unless u believe a customer has no right of complaint. FYI, I still have a cat back Willall system on my car, unfortunately wrapped in Titanium tape and so far, do good?
  8. I am simply stating facts about my Willall mid pipe. 1. The welds developed hairline cracks, sufficient enough for the escape of exhaust gases. 2. The connectipn flanges are too thin and warp over time, allowing exhaust gases to escape. 3. The flexible pipe sections are crudely connected, with the end sections protruding into the exhaust gas glow area. I would be happy to get it back from my tuner and post some pics if you have any doubts. Also, I was advised by Willall that, the failures were due to wrapping the pipe sections with Titanium tape and because of that, I had no warranty on the part! Hopefully Willall have upgraded this part since to overcome the issues I experienced? If you ask, u may find that these parts are made in China? If so, as an Engineer in the Petrolium industry, u would know just how inconsistent metal components from China can be. So maybe u are right when u say mine was a dud? My reason for providing this information is because members should be informed on all facts. This is a safety issue. Leaking exhaust gases can lead to serious consequences, especially on a long drive!
  9. The Willal midpipe is rubbish Mine cracked at the welds and if you look down inside the tubes to where the flexible couplings are, you will see they flair and protrude into the pipe. Also, mine kept leaking and it was because the flanges that bolt to the dump pipes are to thin and warp when hot? Allowing gases to escape. Willal,s excuse was that it failed (cracks) because it was wrapped in titanium tape. Anyway one of my businesses manufactures strctural steel products and if we made or supplied something so faulty, I would want to know about it!
  10. Same thing on my 2010! Had it replaced early this year during my 30'000K service at Von Bibra on the Gold Coast. They did a great job with NO delays. I sure hope the replacement is stronger than the original???? When Nissan Obviously know World wide that this part is rubbish, they should cause u to experience NO delay!
  11. Skyward If u have not already had the formal and it fits with my dates, I am happy to help! If u live on the coast u may know my car, a black 2010 R35 with black wheels and modded. No payment necessary! Kymbo
  12. I have had both Bridgestone and Dunlop, The Dunlops are better in every way with over 50% more life, more grip, same road noise etc. Nissan have now set the Dunlops as the standard GTR tyre. The latest version has improvements developed into it from testing for the 2011/2012 model. When I met Mizuno San at a Phillip Island GTR day, he said "always upgrade to the latest tyres we are using" because they are continually being developed like the GTR, for the GTR. Hope that helps?
  13. How's this, just got 4 brand new Dunlop's for my GTR last week, just now went to drive out of the garage at the office and WTF!!! a bolt sticking out of the front right and a nail in the back left. What are the odds??????? Same thing happened to me 18 months ago (2 weeks after purchase on 1 tyre) Anybody else this sort of mad stuff happen to them. I swear these GTR tyres when fresh, will literally SUCK in every sharp object within 100 metres. Anyway just wanted to vent. Stuck in the office waiting for the wife to pick me up ):
  14. Hi Guys I bought the car new in June 2010. The base line run of 262 awkw was done on exactly the same Dyno in April 2011. The 344.4 awkw was done 6 weeks ago. So at least I know my car is 'calibrated' to this Dyno, so the measured improvements are far more accurate and real. On that point, I have noticed in reading other threads that, other Dyno's seem to be giving higher base readings and the Mercury Dyno always seems to give a more conservative base result? Trent now does all his own tunes instead of relying on staff. He spent 4 hours on my car last Friday night until Midnight, now that's what I call client service! As a qualified 'Mechanical Engineer' as apposed to just a Motor Mechanic, I believe he has the technical know how to get it right. Especially in the weird area of electronic software mapping. Keep in mind, my car still has Cat's and is running on 98 RON. The stock turbo's are now running at a peak of 18 PSI. Everything runs perfectly with the standard everything, such as injectors and pump etc, etc. I suggest if anybody has any doubts, contact Trent at Mercury for a copy of my Dyno sheet and he can explain how it is done!
  15. Simply had to let everybody know that I believe Trent at Mercury Motorsport has totally perfected the R35 GTR tune. With only a cold air intake, Mercury catted dumps, super high flow Mercury stainless mid pipe + Willal Ti cat back system and Trent's new custom tune, my GTR now tops out at 380.5 awkw. The previous tuner could only get 344.4 awkw with much the same hardware. What is even more amazing is the massive increase through the power band and the linearity of the delivery from only 3,000 RPM right through to 7,000 RPM and this result is only using standard 98 RON fuel! All up, Mercury have achieved this power increase from the original standard 262 awkw. That is 118.5 extra awkw! Without even allowing for extra drive train loss and simply adding the awkw gain to the original factory at crank 357 kw, my car now has over 475 kw at the crank, or in old school over 640 HP! So, a big thanks to Trent, his team and Luke, who fabricated a new Mercury Stainless Mid Pipe that can only be described as a true work of art. Happy Days

    Tyre Suggestion

Hey Guys Any comments on the Toyo R888's? I like the idea of the wider fit, non RFT for a smoother ride on the road and I know the grip is supposed to be good but, how about the wear and road noise? about to buy, so comments please.
  18. I recently heard a rumour from sources in Japan that, The 2012/13 Nissan R35 is the last GTR for at least this decade? Apparently Nissan have achieved their goal of smashing the World and burning their reputation into the sports car scene as the producers of the World's best ever performing value for money super car. It makes sense when you consider how long the R34 magic lasted, years after they stopped making them. It may be anywhere between 5 to 8 years before we see an R36? Anyway, if this is the case, it will be interesting to see the affect this will have on the value and demand of used R35's. Has anybody else heard the same?

    Looking At A R35

Owned V10 M5 before GTR. Also owned in order prior to M5, E46 M3, E36 M3, 2 modified Corvettes. The GTR is in an altogether different class and simlply makes a mockery of them! Best mate and I both bought new cars in June 2010. He bought a brand new fully optioned M3 in white and I bought a brand new GTR in black. It is simply laughable when we are on the road together, not only does the GTR get all the looks, he may as well be driving a Toyota when it comes to how fast the GTR pulls away in both the straights and the corners. I had to pay 10K more for the GTR than he paid and it was worth every cent. A true supercar that obliterates everything on the road at near an M3 or C63 price, what a bargain! The only car I would now consider over the GTR is a new Lamborghini. The problem though, because my GTR is recently modded, I would have to do something with the Lambo to at least try and make it as fast as the GTR. It's a tough life?
  20. OK Am finally there again, this Saturday night!!!! I hope to see as many GTR's as possible and of course other car enthusiasts! Hopefully NO rain! Trent and Tessa from Mercury Motor sport may also be there! Look forward to seeing you guys again! Kymbo

  22. Apologies to all, can not make it tonight. However, reading the QLD/Events part of the site, it looks like a few other guys are going! When you have 4 kids, family stuff sometimes takes over. They never see me during the week because of the long hours (thanks to the GFC), so this is a night that I can remind them they have a dad (family 10 pin bowling night). I think I will be right for next month, so look forward to catching up then! Kymbo
