Jeez Just had a close up look at the pic of your R33 GTST and all I can say is, WOW! Love to check it out on the night. Kym

All performance car owners are welcome to come along, check out the GTR's (hopefully we get a good GTR turn out?) and tag along for the cruise. The GTR emphasis is simply designed to give the type of platform/membership for GTR owners in Australia, that is currently only available overseas. The amazing history, performance (even in standard form) and racing heritage of every GTR model, we believe, entitles the GTR to its own core club in Australia. However, all performance car enthusiasts who share a passion for GTR's are hereby encouraged to join in! That includes performance car lovers from all the different brands and era's.

Adelaideprosound I believe every R model GTR should be held in very high regard. I clearly remember seeing my first GTR, a Maroon R32 at the Sydney Motor show in 1990. I could not stop circling the car and I kept coming back to look at it thinking, one day I am going to get one of them. Its total dominance of Australian touring car racing (unlike the bogus blue or red family car copy V8 Super car farce of today) in the early 90's confirms its place in history. And yes, even today a well tuned R32 is going to give any modern day super car serious grief! As a point of interest, for those who are too young to remember, in 1990 the R32 cost $90,000!!!! which in todays value equates to over $300,000. So in relative terms the new R35 is almost half the price of the original R32 when new. I remember one of the first notable buyers of the R32 GTR in 1990 was James Packer, who has a dollar or two. I guess as I have matured and improved my financial position, combined with the timing of the R35, the stars aligned and I am now absolutely rapt to own one of these cars. All GTR's are to be admired and respected. They have always been the technology leaders and shown the Euros that a prestige brand name is not enough to keep true car enthusiast customers loyal. I have owned 2 late model, manual and moded Corvettes, an E36 M3, an E46 M3 and prior to the GTR a V10 M5. They all fail miserably to even come close to the total performance super car package offered by the GTR. Bottom line is, unless I could afford to buy a new Lamborghini Aventador or, a new Pagani Huayra, there is nothing that comes close to the GTR. Considering the 20 year time frame between R32 and R35, it is amazing that, ANY GTR can be brought up to date or modded to kick any modern Euro super car square in the slats! So, no excuses are ever needed if you drive a true GTR! Yeh, I looked at the Audi V10 R8 before I bought the GTR, they are a nice car in many ways, but I decided it is not the total hardcore package and simply NOT value for money. Not to mention, I would have hated pulling up next to a GTR and having my arse kicked!

Brandon Be great to see you at the Gold Coast cruise and to give us the chance to check out your R33 GTR V Spec N1. Kym

Brian Glad to hear you got your beast! Enjoy!
-
Hi J - Rad, what is pfc?
-
Oh Yeh! Forgot to mention, The Turbo's now boost to 17 PSI in the 342.6 awkw mode! The stock boost was 12 PSI. The new 'mild' setting now only boosts to 10 PSI, yet interestingly still produces the 260 awkw as it did with the exhaust only. This I believe is due to the extra hardware?
-
Thanks Brian & Mark Yeh, I am stoked! And you are both right. It is the before and after on 'that' specific dyno that is relevant instead of trying to correlate one dyno's figures to another. I could have taken my car to some other tuner on the same day and on their Dyno got a 50 awkw different reading? Anyway, bottom line is, on that dyno, that day the Mercury guys got a huge jump in power over the stock power output. That NET figure is what matters, when considering how it fits in with improved output relative to the factory claims. Look forward to seeing both you guys again in the near future. Kymbo

I want to give a very BIG thanks to the team at Mercury Motorsport for turning my GTR into something that is now simply amazing. The figures speak for themselves in the attached Dyno chart. The chart shows pre tune 262 awkw and 465 awNm. Other than the Titanium Willall mid pipe and cat back system already installed, my car was dead stock. There was NO tune of any kind to support the Willall exhaust, So these figures are only slightly higher than a dead stock R35 GTR. After Mercury installed their new 3.5" catted high flow dump pipes, a AAM Competition Air Intake system and the Cobb tune with their custom Dyno tune over the top, the results ramped up big time. The acceleration has gone from brutal to totally savagely demonic!!! As you can see in the chart my car now has 342.6 awkw and 625 awNm. Not to mention the massive fattening out of both Kw's and Nm's throughout the entire rev range. These are significant improvements, especially when you realise, that is an increase of 80.6 awkw and a wopping 159 awNm. The guys at Mercury explained that, the percentage of drive train power losses does not stay constant when power increases, which makes sense. This is interesting because even if I add NO extra Kw's or Nm's for further drive train losses and simply add the net at wheel power gains to the factory at crank specs of 357 Kw and 588 Nm, I now end up with 437 Kw and 747 Nm at the crank. WOW! Due to the Titanium exhaust (largely) and air intake system (slightly), my car is approx 40Kg lighter than stock as well. To say I am loving this car even more than I did before, is an understatement! Anybody thinking of trading there 09 or 10 GTR in on a new 11, don't bother. For a quarter of the changeover price you can turn your existing GTR into a 2011 crusher. Unless of course they do the same? I am so looking forward to my next encounter with the new Turbo Porsche. Just getting slightly ahead of them is now replaced with their total annihilation. Happy Days ahead

Fireboy No problem, look forward to meeting you at the next run, if not sooner! I pick up my car from Mercury in a few hours. YEH!!

For the first time meet, it sounds like you Toowoomba boys should come and have a weekend on the Gold Coast. Read the new threads! Once we get the GC club sorted, a cruise up to Toowoomba one day sounds good!

Guys Refer to the new thread in both 'R35 GTR discussion' and 'SAU Queensland Club' Where doing it!!!!!!!!

The time has arrived to start a dedicated 'Gold Coast GTR Club' and a monthly cruise night to give it a starting point and some focus. The new R35 GTR has put Nissan and the GTR into the 'Supercar' league and with more R35's coming on line every month and many very fine examples of R32, R33 & R34 GTR's getting around, the time has come to have an official and regular meeting place and time for all 'Godzilla's' on the Gold Coast. FIRST SATURDAY NIGHT OF EVERY MONTH STARTING IN MAY 2011 - 9.00PM - INDY/V8 SUPER CAR 'PIT LANE' CAR PARK, MAIN BEACH The Gold Coast has always got the biggest buzz on a Saturday night with mega amounts of people and hot cars about and the 'Pit Lanes' are certainly appropriate for GTR's. The Pit Lanes are perfect for Gold Coast owners since it is equidistant from the North, South and Western extremities of the Gold Coast. GTR owners from Brisbane and elsewhere may also see it as a good excuse to take a trip to the Gold Coast for a weekend, with the Saturday night run as a bonus. The 9.00pm start time allows everyone to first have dinner and besides, the Gold Coast only starts warming up on the streets around 10.00pm on a Saturday night. GTR owners from interstate can even get a billet ride for the night if they are up on holiday. Just rock up on the night, introduce yourself and I am sure someone will have some space? 1 - 9.00pm meet, greet & chat at the 'Pit Lanes'. 2 - 10.00pm Cruise down the GCH through Surfers to Mermaid, U turning at Magic Mountain for the run back up. 3 - Through Broadbeach, then through Cavill & Orchid Ave Surfers, cruising on to the McCafe at Labrador next to the Bob Jane T Mart for Coffee and a snack (lots of parking space) 4 - Back down through Southport returning to the PIt Lanes for final chats and farewells. We will probably end up drawing a small crowd into the Pit Lanes by that time, maybe even chatting to like minded car lovers with other marques. We will let some of the other brands/clubs know over time, so if they wish, they can mix their agenda in with ours. It would certainly make it interesting! We will even get the word to Porsche owners, so they can come along and be reminded what it fees like to be crushed by a Nissan. And of course, you should welcome your friends with interesting performance orientated cars. PLEASE NOTE: ABSOLUTELY NO HOONING OR EXCESSIVE NOISE in or anywhere near the Pit Lane area, or the Gold Coast Council will end up banning us from using it as a meeting point. If you get nabbed by the Police for any reason whilst we are on the cruise, too bad, you deal with it! You know where we are going and you can catch up later. See you there

I think it may be time to start a dedicated thread for a 'Gold Coast GTR Club' monthly cruize night? Before I do, I would like to ask what you guys think would be the best time and night? My thoughts are the Gold Coast has always got the biggest buzz on a Saturday night with mega amounts of people and hot cars about. I think the 'Pit Lanes' are certainly appropriate for GTR's. I reckon we meet on a Saturday night, 9.00pm for meet greet chat, followed by a cruize down the GCH to Mermaid, then back through Broadbeach, then through Surfers, then go to the McCafe at Labrador next to the Bob Jane T Mart for Coffee and a snack (lots of parking space), then down through Southport back to the PIt Lanes for final chats and farewells. We would probably end up drawing a crowd into the Pit Lanes by that time, chatting to like minded car lovers with other marques. Years ago (1997) I started a monthly Saturday night cruize night for the Corvette Car Club, which still goes off in 2011. I would suggest we make our monthly run the same Saturday night and welcome them to meet us at the Pit Lanes on the final part of the night? We could let some of the other brands/clubs know so they can mix our agenda in with theirs. It would certainly make it interesting! We could even get the word to Porsche owners, so they can come along and be reminded what it fees like to be crushed by a Nissan. And of course, you should welcome your friends with interesting cars. What do you guys think?

Gully I would like to suggest a night each month for Gold Coast GTR owners to meet (R32 through to R35). It needs to be somewhere central and well known. Even for those in Brisbane and elsewhere, it gives a good excuse for a nice cruise for a night on the Gold Coast. The best place I believe would be the Indy/V8 Supercar pit lane parking area at McIntosh Island on the Gold Coast. I live at Coolangatta, so the pit lane would be central for every Gold Coaster because it would take roughly the same time to get to, wether your from Hope Island, Coolangatta or in the Hinterland. Not to mention it is well lit and a cool place to be. Also, good to head out from for a cruise! What do you and others think?

I have seen a guy you could probably describe as Arab looking who also drives a black R35 with CRACKR number plates and another black R35 with XXXV plates. I guess black is the everyday common colour for R35's on the Gold Coast? Trent will be finished with my car on the 21st, it would be interesting to catch up to check out your car and compare after it is finished. I keep thinking that, there must now be enough R35's around in SEQ to get some sort of regular gathering/club thing going. Maybe an R35 branch to the Queensland SAU club??? Anyway, I will make a point of catching up with you on private messaging after I get my car back.

Fireboy I also live on the Gold Coast and have my GTR booked into Mercury on the 18th for the following: 1. Willall Ti mid pipe (already on) 2. Willal Ti cat back system from mid pipe (already on) 3. 3.5" Mercury dump pipes with O/S cats. 4. AAM Competition Air Intake system. 5. New Cobb Accessport for both engine and transmission. 6. Mercury custom tune to support Cobb tune. I am hoping for some serious improvements. Do you know any other R35 GTR owners on the Gold Coast?

Mark Awesome build! I have my car going into Mercury on the 18th for my first major upgrades. Will you car be there around that time, I would love to have a close look at what is possible. Kymbo
