Are you saying, Japanese people would consider standing up against Nissan on a genuine warranty claim, whining and therefore unreasonable? Please explain?
-
In spite of what Martin said, Mizuno-san told me the LC2 launch in VDC-R was only made available in the 2010 model. Could there be two versions of LC2, the latter being in the 2010? Good luck!
-
Mmmmmm? Are you sure your car has LC2? Maybe check with the dealer.
-
Just make sure that you slap your foot hard and quick down on the go pedal after you left foot brake, any slowness in the move will stop it going into LC2 mode. Also, I did it in Manual mode. Have fun?

Thanks Guys, I appreciate the comments. Also, if anybody else out there has another genuine Nissan warranty issue, let's hear about it and then make sure we do something about it. As a result of all this, I now know that this forum and many others are being regularly viewed and monitored by Nissan. If you watch the original Carlos Goshn GTR doco, you will see that Nissan used the internet to establish the R35 GTR's reputation and kudos leading up to its launch. In fact Carlos even banned conventional advertising for the R35 GTR. It seems that Nissan has forgotten that they don't own the internet and if they stuff up, it can bite back in equal measure and undo all there hard work. As a small part of that original hard core internet market segment, together WE can send both positive and negative messages to hundreds of thousands of Nissan owners and potential buyers whenever or wherever we like. So, maybe Nissan Australia will now take the attitude that their customer service needs to at least equal their sales promise? Lets hope! Kymbo

UPPER CASE, EXCLAMATIONS, UNDERLINING AND SOMETIMES EVEN A LITTLE BOLDING, GIVES ME SUCH A DEEP SEATED SENSE OF EMOTIONAL RELEASE, I JUST CAN'T HELP IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!? Know what I mean?
-
I guess I do not consider a tiny rim scratch when parking 'hitting' something that could cause a structural defect?

Got some interesting news! Did the Philip Island track day, got to speak to Mizuno San about the LC2 in my 2010 and he confirmed that If I launch it in the VDC-R mode ON, it will launch at just over 3,000 RPM and is covered under warranty. Got back today, took the car for a drive and for the first time ever I launched it exactly as Mizuno San said. It works a treat!!!! Not that I would ever use it again? But, just in case I now know it works and I am covered!

I did the Friday morning and had a ball!!! I am not sure, but the 11 seemed to have a little more torque than my 10 down low? Also, the new launch is amazing. In fact I was not ready for it when I let go of the brake pedal and I got a serious case of head spin, followed by a strong desire to vomit. In fact, I felt a bit crook for the rest of the day. Probably fair to say it blew my mind! The handling seemed slightly more direct and I thought the steering did feel a little lighter, which to be honest I did not like. I prefer weightier feedback for a sense of increased control. I found the new interior a bit bland with everything being charcoal or black. The brushed alloy and red inserts in my 10 feel more high spec and interesting to look at. Mind you the carbon fibre bits backing the controls and DVD slot looked trick! Colour wise, my favourite is still the black. When Mizuno san explained how the extra aero bits (that also incorporate the LED running lights) direct more air to the side of the car instead of over the top, I was impressed when he explained that is creates a venturi affect sucking air out through the rims, increasing vacuum under the bonnet for more down force as well as sucking more cooling air through the intercoolers and radiator. Talk about a subtle change adding up to a lot of stuff. I thought Mizuno San said the upgrade stuff on the 11's would be available for the 09's and 10's in a few months???? All in all, it was a great day and worth the trip from the Gold Coast!

IF you are referring to the 'Grazed Rim', it was the rear left that had the gutter scratch/graze, but, it was the rear right that cracked! I have a new rim in place of the cracked rim and still have the scratched rim (which I touched up with some paint and nail polish clear) on my car. OK!
-
To those whom have shown support on this issue, I thank you very much!!!!! To those that have shown either hostility, ignorance or simple bloody mindedness - READ THE FOLLOWING! I am very pleased to say that, the problem is resolved and NISSAN HQ have confirmed and accepted 100% responsibility for the cracked rim. I am sure you would all agree that Mizuno San, the creator and father of the R35 GTR would know what he is talking about when it comes to the R35 GTR, unlike certain individuals on this blog. I have just had the opportunity and honor to meet Mizuno San at the R35 track day at philip Island and he very kindly gave me his time to hear about the issue. Upon his viewing of the photos and discussing the details, he confirmed that it is a clear product fault and is the responsibility of Nissan! Incredibly, he even went so far as to apologize for and on behalf of Nissan Australia for their poor handling of the matter. Senior Nissan executives at the track on the day confirmed they will be making amends and picking up the faulty wheel, which will be returned to Japan for proper analysis. I made it clear to both Mizuno San and the Nissan executives that I believe my R35 GTR is a magnificent car in every way, it was only the handling of the warranty issue that was the problem. They understood and agreed. So, my advice would be, if you believe you are right about something, then do something about it. You may just prove to be right and get the answer you were looking for. As a footnote - After meeting Mizuno San, hearing and seeing his incredible passion, knowledge and dedication that has lead to the R35 GTR, I was simply blown away and now have an even deeper appreciation for the incredible vehicle that lives in my garage.

Terry & Mark Thanks for the comments. I have to go down to VIC this week to do the Philip Island GTR drive day (and hunt down some Nissan HQ bandits), after I get back I will get the wheel checked and reported on by an independent engineer, I will then post the information as well as some more pics showing the condition of the entire rim etc. Thanks again!!!
-
Hi Mark My dealer is in QLD and only sent some pics to Melbourne HQ who based their decision on that, then knocked back the claim. The wheel is at home in a box. When I get a chance I am dropping it in to a local engineer who can provide a proper analysis. It is simply the principle of the thing, I can not stand being ripped off!!! I think part of the issue is that, Nissan have accepted part liability in the fact that, they paid for one third of the replacement cost instead of the whole amount. So, what are they saying with that?????????? Bottom line is, they have never before dealt in the higher end value prestige/sports car market and it shows big time! That is why many GTR owners will only ever be one time buyers. The attitude and customer service experiences offered by BMW, Mercedes or Audi etc, etc, by comparison to Nissan, is SO incredibly different!!!!!. Such a shame!

OK The attached video has Mizuno showing a 3.3 on the whiteboard for the 2010 model using the LC2???? Also, I am midway enhancing my car and wondered what I could expect from the following; Got full Willal Racing Ti cat back system about to install dump pipes, AAM competition air intake system and new Cobb Access Port with both engine and transmission tune. Does the Cobb system change the LC and what have other GTR owners experienced with the above mods?
-
OK I have a 2010 model. So as I understand it, I put it into VDC-R mode, hold the brake with left foot, floor the accelerator with my right foot and simply release the brake to launch, and it should launch in the LC2 soft mode at 3,500RPM. The dealer (Gold Coast) did say when I bought the car, it was good for a 3.3 Sec time! Also, because I am still using the VDC system, my warranty is protected (or so they say?). Have I got it right???? Thanks!

Interesting comments???? I hit nothing! There is absolutely no damage to any other part of the rim, or even the old tyre. The dealer, after viewing the rim is of the opinion that there is no sign of abuse or impact to cause the crack! Which is why they went to bat on the subject with Nissan HQ. I picked up my car yesterday and the dealer informed me that Nissan is now wiling to pay one third of the bill which they did, but only because the dealer got stuck into them. Being responsible for what you do is a bit like someone being pregnant, you either are, or you are not. So I guess Nissan worked out they are only one third pregnant on the issue. On the subject of money, the reason most people end up in a strong financial position is because they always make sure not to waste money. The $2K plus for the rim (now less one third) is not the issue. It is the fact that, a large and indifferent mob like Nissan really don't give a rats about anybody. The middle management 'suck but' that made the decision to screw me on the rim no doubt has an ego directly opposite in size to his penis. However, just so you know, I still believe the R35 GTR is without a doubt the greatest value for money performance car ever made! It is only the flakey warranty cover and the people who fail miserably to support it that are the problem. If they treat a GTR owners this bad, I have nothing but pity for the Tiida buyers. Anyway, Guess what!!!! I am going to the drive day for the new R35 down at Phillip Island next week and I am going to hunt down every Nissan HQ manager I can find and give it to them face to face. And being a current R35 owner, I am looking forward to sharing my experiences with any prospective R35 buyers willing to listen! I'll let you know how it went

LATEST NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AFTER HOLDING MY CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR OVER A WEEK, NISSAN FLAT OUT REFUSE TO ACCEPT THE CRACKED RIM AS A WARRANTY CLAIM. THEY STAND BY THEIR BELIEF IT IS MY FAULT! I have a simple plan, I told the dealer, get the new $2,000 rim, fit it, give me my car back, and put the cracked wheel in the boot. I then intend to photo and video the entire rim to show its condition. Then I am taking it to a local engineering company that specialises in checking and repairing damaged rims. I will pay them to do a written independent report on the rim. Once I have that, I will be loading this BLATANT NISSAN 'RIP OFF' AND REFUSAL TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR FAULTY AND DANGEROUS GOODS onto every GTR & Nissan enthusiast website throughout the World. Following that I will be loading it onto every BMW, Porsche, Mercedes, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Audi, Jaguar and sports car enthusiast website throughout the World explaining the NISSAN METHOD OF CUSTOMER SERVICE and why they should NEVER BUY A GTR, unless they are happy to buy a car with A BOGUS WARRANTY PLAN. This will be my new hobby for the next few months. Lets not forget all the other 'Nissan smoke and mirrors' no warranty cover issues. Why give a car the means to be launched, then say, if you use it your screwed?? If the bastards at Nissan are so cheap and petty to screw me on one rim, what next? My past cars include late model Corvette convertibles, an E36 BMW M3, and E46 BMW M3 and a V10 BMW M5 prior to my GTR purchase. BMW never hesitated to honour their warranty obligations. In fact, to the credit of BMW they did warranty work on my last M3 and M5 even when they were a few months out of warranty. Nissan have got a lot to learn. The GTR is NOT A TIIDA shit box. So stop giving shit box customer service and attitude to GTR owners!!!!!!!!!!!! If I can loose them just one sale in the World and put a dent into the side of their arrogance, they might think again before screwing some other GTR owner. As I said before, HAVE YOUR RIMS CHECKED. Mine has cracked, maybe yours have as well?????? My issue is with Nissan, not the dealer. My Gold Coast dealer has always done the right thing and on this matter, has tried on multiple occasions to convince Nissan HQ in Melbourne to provide warranty cover on this issue.

Tyre pressure was still holding, but as you can see the crack would only have to advance another mm and it would be a problem. The trouble with cracks though, is they can open slowly, or just let go and fully tear and split the rim. Especially if it is under a lot of force, like turning a corner at speed. Probably another thing Nissan will soon ban. Maybe that is why the cars have a G meters? As soon as I can get the rim back from the dealer I will take a full rim pic and you will see the rim is perfectly round! and never been hit. NOT EVEN A GUTTER SCRATCH! I personally watched the tyre place from start to end, even made sure they did not use a rattle gun (hand wheel braces used all round) and very good condition tyre fitting machine used VERY gently. Because I was very concerned about them bumping into the low tyre pressure warning modules.
-
As you can see by these photos, the rim has a clean crack, with NO other rim damage. I have never hit anything hard like a big pothole etc. I haven't even used the launch control. The car is always properly serviced and maintained. Anyway, the latest word from the Nissan A-holes in Melbourne is that my rim is bent and it is my fault. Talk about dodging the issue? LOOK AT THE PICS AND YOU TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK? WHY SPEND $180K ON A CAR THAT NISSAN WILL NOT STAND BEHIND! CAN SOMEBODY TELL ME HOW I CAN GET THIS POST WITH THESE PICS ONTO OTHER GTR SITES AROUND THE WORLD (ESPECIALLY JAPAN & US), SOONER OR LATER SOMEONE IS GOING TO PAY I PRICE THEY DON'T DESERVE!!!!! ANYWAY, ANYBODY GOT A GOOD 2010 'REAR RIM' WITHOUT A CRACK IN IT, I AM A DEAD SET QUICK SALE!!!!

Just had a new set of the Dunlop's fitted to my black 2010 R35. My car has now only done 11,000Km and the Bridgestones were stuffed. In fact the inside edges were starting to show the belts. Just when I thought the car should be ready, The tyre dealer brought in my left rear rim and pointed out a full blown crack on the inside rim lip that had made its way right through to the inside body, to the point where the knurling starts. I took some pics that I will post when I get a chance. This is a bloody serious issue! The tyre dealer said he has never seen that on a quality rim. I thought these rims were meant to be top quality Rays Wheels??????? I suggest all R35 owners check there rims for cracking, particularly the inside rim lip. In the least you could get a quick release of pressure, or at worst midway through a very hard corner at your local track or favourite mountain road the rim fails, and your wheel locks into the wheel well sending you off to the pearly gates a little sooner than you hoped? My QLD Nissan dealer now has the car and said it would take about a week to get Melbourne to approve the warranty claim and get a new rim up. The Murano loaner, is just not cutting it. Good luck and if anybody finds a crack, and considering how nutty our government is on OH&S, I hear a 'RECALL' coming!

JUST GOT A GREAT PRICE FROM MY LOCAL DUNLOP SUPPLIER Latest OEM Dunlop Tyres for GTR $715 Each for fronts $860 Each for rears That includes fitting as well! Local reality at last!
-
Has anybody tried NON Run Flat tyres on there R35 GTR. By comparison to the Dunlop/Bridgestone RFT cartel on R35 GTR's, It would open up a whole world of grippy extreme performance tyres, without the price fixing? The softer side walls would give a better ride, more compliance to the road surface and therefore possibly more grip? Just carry a can of the pump up tyre sealer as per all the M3, M5 & M6 BMW's, if you get a flat. Any comments????

Thanks for the tips guys. I will check them out!

When you have to buy a set every 10 to 12 months, price does become important.

I have just wound myself up trying to buy new tyres for my 2010 GTR from our local rip off merchants. Tire Rack in the US has the Dunlop fronts for $420 a tyre and the rears for $468. But they say, they can not sell them to us in OZ because Dunlop said so? WTF Our dollar is now worth the same and we are expected to pay MORE THAN TWICE THE FN PRICE!!!! I would like to shove my old tyres fair up the Dunlop and Bridgestone cartels 'where the god dam sun don't shine'. Why hasn't anybody on this site suggested bringing in a bulk buy from the US via our fellow GTR website club members in the US and show these god dam FN cartel mongrel FCKRS that there is a thing called free trade. They say the USA is the land of the free, sounds more like the land of bullshit to me!!!!!
