  1. Hi guys I am looking for some new Dunlops in the next few weeks, to replace my Bridgestones. Any suggestions?????? Tyre Rack in the US refused to sell them to me?
  2. Does anybody know how many 'active' R35 GTR member/owners there are, in the SAU QLD Club?
  3. Hi Duncan Great results mate! I agree, the GTR is something special! I use it as my daily driver, pick up the kids etc etc, then go to QR and splat GT3's with slicks and the strange men who drive them. I am currently fitting the full Willall exhaust, down pipes, AAM racing air intakes, Cobb tune, BOV's, H&R springs & splitter. I also intend to start attending the track days at QR or Morgan Park. On that, do you or somebody on this site have any details on the programs and temp CAMS license etc. Thanks
  4. I know I should have said GT3 or Turbo Porsche, but Porcshe Caymen rhymes too well with Porsche Gaymen!
  5. I don't get it Over 200 views only 15 votes and other than Handbrake, nobody has anything to say bout their mods etc???? How about some 'Kicked Some Ass' stories from both the street and track? Would make fun reading for other R35 owners.

    Lowering Gtr

g35me When you say you brought them back in your luggage, do you mean from Japan? Did you get a stock item number? Could be worth a shot hitting my local dealer if they have a Nissan stock number, you never know your luck. Also, what did they cost you in AUD. Thanks for the info.

    Lowering Gtr

I want to lower my car and inch all round, for a lower centre of gravity and better look as part of a series of upgrades. The speed for sale website shows a whole range of the usual brands that have a similar number of coils and weight to the OEM springs. But then I saw the 'Swift GTR Sport Springs' lower down the list, that seem to have a whole lot of benefits over the normal type. They us a higher grade steel and have almost half the coils and weight? What do you guys think? I want to order a set ASAP, so some past experience advice from members would be appreciated!
  8. Handbrake I created Option 1 with you in mind after reading every page of the Mercury Motor sport thread about the development of your car. Lets face it, without a doubt you have the most insane R35 GTR in Australia!!!!!! And your right, there should be a big fat ADDICTION warning sticker on every R35 GTR sold. Every aftermarket supplier guy is basically a GTR Candy Man!
  9. I have been reading a lot of threads on this site over the past few weeks and find it very interesting to hear and see, the range of attitudes amongst members when it comes to modifying their R35 GTR's. There seems to be several groups, that range from creating an absolute track weapon that can no longer be driven on the street, and those that are not hard core at all and sell out early to buy something else, like an M3 that has comfort and 'sparkling performance' GIVE YOUR VOTE TO THE ATTACHED POLL - What type R35 GTR owner are you? EVEN IF YOU INTEND TO BE A FUTURE R35 GTR OWNER, PLACE YOUR VOTE! This could also be a good forum for members to expand on their modifications, but also explain what it is and why it is, that you want from your GTR. For me, its all about the surprise! I wanted a car I can drive everyday, that will also do well on the street and track, but still has a mostly standard look to it. I love seeing the sad faces of the Porsche, Ferrari, AMG and BMW M car owners when my car obliterates them from the lights and or on the track. Especially the GT3 Porsche owners, they really crack me up, you can hear the sound of their fragile egos cracking as you blast past them

    Ram Air

I have decided not to hook up the lower air intakes to the air boxes, because I will need the dummy right hand side intake to flow air for a future front mount transmission cooler. Negative comments about Turbo engines not benefitting from cold rammed air are incorrect. Many manufacturers of after market air intakes, that mount forward in the front bumper to pick up larger volumes of cool air are Dyno proven to produce more power and other benefits, the below is a quote lifted straight of the 'Speed for Sale' website regarding the AAM sports air intake. Check out the site, go to air filters and read about this and other brands. Harmon have proven an extra 8 AWHP with this type of system. "The AAM Competition Premium Sports 2.75" (70mm) and 3.00" (76mm) Version 1.5 Intake systems are designed to increase air flow to the GT-R's turbochargers by replacing the restrictive factory air boxes in favor of free flowing external air filters and smooth, one-piece, lightweight aluminum intake pipes. For factory equipped GT-Rs, the 2.75" V1.5 Intake the complete intake upgrade. Increased throttle response, lower IAT temps, quicker spool up, as well as an increase in accessible power are benefits of pairing our 2.75" Intakes with factory turbochargers, with no custom tune necessary." Think about it! A Turbo gets bloody hot and 'sucks' the air. Make the air colder and give more volume from added pressure to enhance the turbo suction, it is going to help. I have ordered the AAM system and should have it 9 days. The only thing missing is the 'Ram', but even so they do work. Have a look at the intake diameter of the small snorkel in front of the OEM air box. At high long duration RPM it is a restrictor. As we now know, the 2011 GTR will have 390 Kw standard. Nothing like having simple built in elements that can be upgraded at a small cost, to keep ahead of the power game with Porsche!
  11. Spec r

I am keen on the Willall cat back exhaust, posted interest in R35 Parts for sale.

  12. Handbrake, I have a black 2010 Premium GTR with Bridgestones and perfect rims, except for one minor graze back left rim that has been touched up. Tyres have 9400 Km on them. I like the look of the HRE's etc. Depends on what you want on the changeover? Kymbo
  13. spec r, I would be very interested in buying your Willall cat back system. I already have the Willall mid pipe. Look forward to hearing from you! Kymbo

    Ram Air

Thanks for the feedback guy's Very much appreciated. "Mendoza" I especially appreciate the negative boost article, thanks! I will update you on the results!

    Ram Air

OK, I already have a Willal Titanium mid pipe and intend to fit the balance of the Willal system with the air intake system. I should have also asked, does the Cobb tuner have a program for this type of mod. Kymbo

    Ram Air

Before I start modifications to my R35, I thought I would first put some information and a question out to everybody. Every high performance car I have had in the past has responded incredibly well to a forced cold air intake, in a position that creates increasing positive pressure from increasing speed. The standard circular air inlets to the air boxes are tiny and appear to be power restrictors. Ever wondered why, when you watch a GTR on U Tube, the GTR is killing its opposition up to 200 KMH, past that it just seems to flatten out with the other car suddenly catching up? That outcome is typical of air restricted race cars. At high RPM the air velocity is limited to a maximum volume. Common in the past with cars that have MAF sensors, because the MAF sensor has a limit on how much air it can measure to adjust air/fuel/timing etc. The dummy air intakes (one only side cut to flow air to the oil cooler) at the bottom, on each side of the intercooler intakes are either a styling afterthought or there for a purpose. Surely not just for an oil cooler intake? Maybe the 2012 model will hook up these intakes??? My intention is to create a lightweight alloy system that is 'plumbed' to the air intakes at the air boxes, with a tapered (funnel) affect to the air box that will also have enlarged diameter inlets, which will add increased volume, pressure, velocity and colder/denser air to the air boxes. I will use a K & N air filter to help the final flow restriction point. The only problem with this type of mod is, how to measure the power increase because a Dyno can not replicate the massive air pressure on the factory inlets at say, 200 KHM. My only explanation is, past cars that I have done this to experience a manic increase in top end thrust that slams the rev limiter every time! The aftermarket cold air intakes that are currently available are limited by the fact they use the standard air box inlet sizes and are a different size to each other, which would give different pressures to each turbo. Or they are located in a limited positive pressure air zone. MY QUESTIONS ARE: 1. Has anybody done this to an R35 before and if so, what happened. 2. What is the opinion of the tech guys who read and add to this forum. 3. Will the standard MAF sensor be able to read and adjust for the changes. Regards, Kymbo
  17. Martin U may remember me? I got a Willall midpipe for my black 35 a couple of months ago, u sent it to my Gold Coast Nissan dealership who fitted it up. As u know I am very pleased with the results. Reading the above about your 'tune results' I just have to get it! My question is' I also want the rest of the Willall titanium exhaust from the midpipe through to the tips, for even more power, sound and weight reduction. Do u have a tune for the whole system and how much better are the results compared to the 333awkw with midpipe and tune only? Also, can u please email me a new quote for the exhaust plus the tune? Kym
  18. SAU QLD ??? Where is it? What is it? Type of cars and age group. I would look a bit silly mixing it up with 18 - 20 year olds (Im over 50!) What do they do? And how do I contact them? Thanks, Kymbo
  19. Having recently purchased a new Black R35 GTR, I find it frustrating that there are no GTR clubs in Queensland. Previous cars I have owned have active clubs, giving focus to the interest, organising drive times, Gymkana's and track sprint days, the more relaxed weekend variety where we can kick the Porsche's around at a pace that does not destroy our cars brakes, tyres and transmissions etc. If anybody is keen, lets get it happening! I am based on the Gold Coast. Von Bibra Nissan on the Gold Coast said they would help support a new GTR Club, especially if it was based on the Gold Coast. Kymbo
  20. Agree Just fitted Willall mid pipe, what a difference! Prob need to get the rest of it now, plus some bigger/ram air gear at the front. The factory scoops at the bottom are screaming out to be plumbed up and into the airbox intakes. Anybody tried that already? Kymbo
  21. 51 Property Developer Had the Mercs, BMW M3's & M5's, Corvettes. Porsche's are a cliche! Ferrari's are passé and can only be red Astons and Massers are very pretty and very slow My new black GTR 35 is simply humiliating all my poser mates! The only car after a GTR is either the next R36 or, Pagani Zonda or the next Lambo. Kymbo
  22. Thanks John D! My Nissan service guy came up with a good fix. He used a bead of brake sealer Around the pad perimeter and it is now perfect. However next service I will add the 09 retainers! My dealer also fitted a Willall mid pipe for me, what a difference and u win on all fronts, weight, power and sound! I am looking forward to my first sprint day at QR to try my car out for the first time. Kymbo
  23. Thanks Guy's!!!!! With the information you provided, I should be able to get it fixed. Next!!!! I am only one week away from my first 2,000K service and have decided that, straight after, I will install the full cat (primary) back 'Willel Racing' Titanium Exhaust system, Cobb access tuner, enlarged cold air tubes kit & filters from the air filter boxes to the engine intake plennum, as well as cold air ram/funnel intakes for cold positive pressure air delivery through to the front of the air filter boxes. What sort of AWHP gain should I expect to see. Anyone know what sort of 0-100K and 400 mtr gains? Also, any recommendations or added suggestions on my choices??? Thanks again.
  24. Thanks RCCC It is a 2010 model. The Nissan guy told me they come with a retainer clip standard? Who or what is the HPC? Also, does anybody else suffer this problem? Many thanks!
