I can tell you that I wont be parking a skyline ever again in the port adealide area. Not without removing a wheel or something.
-
No it doesn't look too bad but turns out there is damage to the suspension and they would need to pull the engine out. So they're writing it off. Oh well I'll have to get a GTR just like Krishy suggested.

It was supposed to be in my brothers wedding in a month's time. Hopefully it's all fixed up in time... I have no idea how long crash repairs take.

Yeah port adealide is pretty dodgey looking area. This is like a really new subdivision right next to Port Adelaide. The street is completely off the road and there is only one way in and out. So it's not like these losers just happened to be cruising by and saw my car. It's likely they specifically targeted this area because it's a fairly rich area, and of course my skyline was like the only cool car parked on the street (apart from a yellow R34). I'm so pissed off that I didn't make it a challenge to steal. I mean it's so easy to immobilise your own car even if you don't have an immobilisor. You just pull out wires and fuses, take out the battery or pull off the steering wheel. All of which I will be doing the next time I park in a dodgey place. Insurance rang and they are going to fix it up and sort it all out, they have been really good about it all. So at the end of the day it's just gonna cost me for the excess. I guess I was lucky it wasn't a smoldering pile of metal and all of my belongings were still in the car, my toolbox and a $700 car dvd player was left intact. Hope everyone can learn something from this. It's just unfortunate I didn't read about all the stolen skylines in this section before it actually happened to me.

I feel really stupid for not yet fitting an immobiliser/alarm. I've been too caught up fixing all the other things that were wrong with her. I'm from the country you see, normally my skyline is sitting in a locked shed. The one night I stay in town, this is what happens. Whatever can go wrong will go wrong. If anyone is thinking of stealing a skyline, they better hope to hell they don't steal my next one because I will be running at them with a f***ing baseball bat.

Had my R32 GTS4 stolen on Tuesday night/ Wednesday morning. I've only had it for one month. It was parked in Newport area (near Port Adelaide) right out the front of my brothers house where I was sleeping. It's a quiet area with units and townhouses so no cars ever go down the street during the night. Got a call at 5.30am from the cops asking me if I owned a black skyline. I'm like "yeah". Then they asked me where abouts I thought it was. I'm like "out the front of my brothers house". Then there like can you check to see if it's out the front of your brothers place. I'm like, "Sure" (By this stage I knew it wasn't where I left it). So yeah it wasn't there anymore and I'm like "Um is it ok?" The cop is like "Um no it's not ok." Apparently it was seen cruising with another white skyline, possibly stolen too. They both fueled up and did a runner from a servo on Port Road. Then it was found some hours later crashed into a parked car. So yeah someone had a friggen good night out in my R32 and I'm pissed off because I wasn't there to experience it. Still waiting on insurance to see if they will fix this or pay me out. Hope your week has been better than mine! I'm keen to park a skyline somewhere one day and hide and wait for some bastard to try steal it. Then I'll jump out of the bushes with a baseball bat and drop the mother f***er. Anyone up for this?

Boggy when wet. Would have never got through without 4wd! The car was sliding all over the place. He he

Spinning the wheels is fun so a toggle switch is the way to go. But after having a 4wd skyline I don't think I could ever go back to only having rwd. 4wd is so much fun on dirt, handling is insane. Also it just ploughs through the mud patches out on the farm when it rains. Ha ha!

Thanks heaps Sarumatix! Turned out to be the plug in the center console giving me constant heat. I pulled my whole dash apart to fix the heater core and this is the one plug I forgot to plug back in. One side of the plug is attached to the same loom as the cigarette lighter. It has two wires, brown and green I think. Check this plug if you have been messing around with your dash. I'm so happy to get this fixed!

Missfire Boost@4500-5500 RPM - The Answer! (for me at least!)
soundtone replied to Nightman's topic in General Maintenance
Just bought an R32 GTS4 that was missfiring like an absolute bitch. I changed the spark plugs today and put a new fuel filter in. Everything is absolutely sweet as now There was black fuel coming out of the old fuel filter, it looked more like oil than fuel. So I'd say it was all clogged up with shit. Also the new spark plugs I put in were the NGK's at $5 each and they are gaped at 0.8mm. The cars pretty stock except for an exhaust. Worked for me. No more missfires! -
I bought the car for $6250 and yep it was just condensation in the engine! It hadn't been driven for ages, just started up once a week but never got up to operating temperature. I took it for a bit of a spin and a little bit more white milky crap acumulated and now nothing!! It's all sweet! So happy. I'm loving this car!

Dashboard Lights And Rear Lights Not Working
soundtone replied to MRSAMO's topic in General Maintenance
Hey I just got my dash lights working! It was the dimmer switch. I pulled the dimmer switch out and bypassed it by connecting the two wires together. Everything is working sweet now! -
Dashboard Lights And Rear Lights Not Working
soundtone replied to MRSAMO's topic in General Maintenance
The dash lights and tail lights run on the same circuit in an R31 skyline. If your tail lights are out, you can't see your dash lights. Not sure on the R32 though. I've just bought an R32 and I don't have any dash lights. The inner two tail lights are working but the outside ones are off (i'm not sure if they're meant to be on with an R32). Brake lights are working. Hopefully I can find the problem... -
Thanks for the info krazyzie32. I've been doing a little research and have found out that the slight milky residue in the oil cap could just be a build up of moisture due to the cold weather and the fact that the guy hasn't driven the car up to operation temperature for a while. It has been sitting out in the open in a car park at his work for a number of weeks. It's not a brown colour and it's not a massive build up, simple a few droplets of water making it look whitish. I'm thinking and hoping it's condensation. There is no milky residue on the dipstick which is a good sign. I'll have to check for sure that there are no bubbles in the radiator while it's idling. Also I will make sure there is no white smoke coming out the exhaust and check that there is no coolant smell.

Hey people I'm new to this forum and this is my first question. Last night I loooked at an R32 GTS-4 and judging by the milky oil under oil cap and bubbles coming through the radiator, it has a blown head. The price tag is $7,500 and but he said he'd sell it for $6,500. It's a nice car other than the engine but it will need a new head. I'm just wondering what would be the approximate price to get the head fixed up on the RB20DET?
