Hi there, I've been in the market for a car, and I've seen heaps of advice surrounding what to look for when purchasing. A lot of people seem to emphasis the fact not to buy a car that has been crashed and repaired. Excuse my ignorance, but what is the stigma against this? I thought that as long as it was repaired by a decent mechanic, it should be as good as non crashed cars? Any info would be great.

If everyone could ignore the tattered Nardi steering wheel, it has since been replaced with a nice "drift" steering wheel (nice and chucky like an M3's, but not to heckticzzzzz) but I haven't the time to take pictures. - Ben -

Hey mate!!! Unfortunately its not really what I'm after at the moment, good luck with the sale but! Looks nice. - Ben -
Up for sale is my MY97 Subaru WRX, a mechanically immaculate example of one. Only tasteful modifications on this one. A close friend of mine is an ex Capital Subaru mechanic and WRX enthusiast, and helped me pick this example out of many. I have owned this car for one year, after buying it from a mature Sydney owner. Reason for selling is I am looking to calm down from the "0 – 100 in less than 6 seconds" acceleration and looking for something a little easy on the fuel. I am interested in swapping for a stock, low kilometres, Mazda NB MX-5 with cash either way. The car is always fed premium oil (only 98+ octane goes in him) and serviced at a Subaru specialist (Subaroo Servicing Mitchell). I have all service records, and receipts for all work done to prove it. The Good: New Radiator New 3 " turbo back exhaust with 2.5" tip (because of noise) Well below average kms for its age 17" rims The Bad: Minor stone chips on bonnet Scrapes and scruffs found on cars of this age If you are interested, give me a call any time. If I am sleeping/at work/driving I will get back to you as soon as I can. Only specialists touch her. Price is 12990 negotiable. Located in Canberra No test pilots please. Genuine buyers only. Importing Costs
dreamresult posted a topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
I'm looking at importing something (thinking 180sx, r32, r33, haven't really decided yet) and so I've been researching tax, GST, shipping, and all that other stuff. With "Carizma" as my source, there is a 10% GST, and a 10% import tax (http://carizma.com.au/Pages/Import%20-%20Regulations.htm) It costs roughly $1000 to ship a car, and an additional $200 for insurance (http://carizma.com.au/Pages/Import%20-%20Shipping.htm) I've found a nice, clean, late model 180sx for less than $7000 AUD on "Tradecarview" (http://www.tradecarview.com/used_car/japan%20car/nissan/180sx/4929207/) So all this will cost around $9600, which is a pretty good price I reckon. Thing is, this seems too small a price to pay. I've been looking around on SAU and they say there are other costs that cost several thousand dollars. FOR WHAT?! Anyone who has experience/knowledge on this topic, please share your wisdom! Thanks everyone -

hey mate, youve butchered that link, it takes you to the place where you can edit your ad, instead of the actual ad. while im here, interested in a swap for a 1993 e36 bmw 325i? its rego is ygn77e if you wanna look it on carsales and my sau ad is: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/19...5i-t332813.html -
A balance of power and economy, with a bias to power. The perfect car for someone looking to calm down, or a P-plater looking for a car that'll be faster than their mates. Pictures are avail on my carsales ad: http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/privat...id=127EEE6FF713 I am negotiable on the price, and of course I'll consider any reasonable offer that comes my way. Maybe interested in swaps, but show me what you have. Thanks for looking!

cheers everyone for your input! cookie32 - it sounds like you got an amazing find. why do you prefer 32's over 33's apart from the cheap feeling interior? gtrpowa - are there any cars you would recommend for a budget of around 10k? cant really afford anything over that at all. my current car is a bmw e36 325i, which handles really nicely but im just after something a bit quicker and cheaper to maintain.
-
cheers GTRPowa, my research told me r33's do 0 - 100 in about just under 8secs, which is as fast as my current car. im after something that can do about 6, and turbo why dont r33's cut it for you? are you too used to the power of a gtr hence your username?
-
cheers clutch, but arent r33's just as hard to find unmolested?
-
basically want a daily that i can have some fun on the track with. would you recommend anything else apart from what ive mentioned with a 10k budget? and holy shit that was a quick reply, cheers for that. since im new at this, is there some way that i can check if someones replied my posts, like notifications or something?

Hey everyone, New to the forum, and one thing i wanted some help on was what to get out of: - 180sx - 200sx - r33 gtst - r32 I know that the 180 and 200 aren't as fast as the skylines, however i don't really want anything too fast because i wont be able to have fun with it without being scared shitless. whatever i buy, im after a completely stock one right now im leaning towards the 180 followed by the r33 the 200's looks dont cut it, and r32's are getting a bit old if anyone could input their opinion, that would be great i might even put a gay dancing penis
