  1. GiJOr33 - changing exhaust is pretty easy. I had to do it on my gravel drive way with only the normal skyline jack. Took about 30mins like that flat on my back.. hardest bit was lifting it up to get the hooks out. Also, one idea I had for a temporary silencer is to unbolt your exhaust at the cat and make a metal plate that matches the shape of the flange, drill holes in it and bolt it all back up. I would say that the exhaust place would have no idea and if they looked it would just look like the gasket in there.
  2. I have a friend who used to be in a police prosecuter. Basically, if your found guilty in court its up to the judge to decide wether its a conviction or not. If the judge decides to convict you then you have it on your record for life (yes, u can get a criminal record for speeding ). So the main thing is, dont go to court just to delay points as the judge will get pissed off and give u a conviction. In my case, I was caught doing 110 in an 80 zone (overtaking) and the cops pulled me for 110 in a 60 zone, overtaking on double lines (were no double lines) and no p plates (had p plates). The next day I went to the local station to lodge a formal complaint as after I was pulled over i was called a few swear words and the police made me come to their car rather than getting out and coming to me! When I went in they made me talk to the officers that had pulled me over (not very good practice for someone wanting to make a complaint against them). I then told them I would like them to re-issue the ticket at the correct speed zone and their response was "YOU DESERVE IT". so after writing formal complaints and letters to civic complaince to drop the ticket I had everyone telling me that there was nothing they could do, and i had to go to court. So yer, here i am now, waiting and hoping that it never comes!
  3. pushead - I took off all my intake piping which was suprisingly clean, and gave it a bit more of a clean. I then cleaned my afm and then took off the thottle body and cleaned that. Out of the lot the throttle body looked the worse (thin layer of very thick oil around it). After putting it all back i found a noticible difference in throttle response and felt like it came on boost a bit smoother. It will only cost u 1 bottle of carby cleaner. Would be interesting to see before and afters on a dyno of doing this.

wayne dont sell your car, or if u do get a silvia or somethig u can still have some fun in. i got an apartment for indy (4 nights) but cant make it up anymore due to g/f issue and last weekend i spend $5000 on alcohol and got back at 6am a week later and went right to work just in my jocks cos i was so drunk.. so ner
  5. actually for the price the mods it still has is good... but i would still be a bit wary about the engine...
  6. im as white as they come and when I read this I agreed. Its not because im racist but because for some reason australains on the whole dont seem to have that pshyco mentality. I dont know if this makes sense, but i went to boarding school and alot of the asian guys always wanted to sort things out with big fights, or fight for fun, where as it seems that australians dont seem to be so much like that. Probably something you could trace back to the differences in our cultures....
  7. my dad has has a good job where he gets different cars each few weeks. Also, i was lucky enough he trusted me to drive them.... hehe, hit the 150km/h mark a few times and he was pretty cool
  8. i wouldnt pay that for a car i know has been flogged half its life. Im sure the engine after running close on 300kw wont be as clean as lots out there.. but thats my opinion.
  9. hmm ok... the police forced me into going to court, but at this stage im hoping they have realised they are a pack of fat ****ing ****s and have dropped it... 10 months in 4 days time so im hoping for the best.
  10. stock r33 should be 140kw... unless your motor is stuffed.. maybe check compression if your getting figures that low.
  11. Hi, Just wondering who has gone to court over a traffic infringment. Would like to know how long till your summons arrived, and how much time u had between that and your court appearance. Also, I have heard that 12months after the offence they can no longer prosecute you.. anyone know if this is true? thanks dave
  12. my total points at the moment is 18... but I get 3 back in 3 weeks... still, need to do something about the other 15 .
  13. i had a think about it... and here is a quick list of what I drove on my L's... this is only the GOOD car list... had a million shitters too. - Subaru STI (old type - like 98 model - first of the four doors) - Honda Integra Type R (old model), S2000 - Merc SLK 230 kompressor, CLK 320 kompressor, A190 - Holden SS (good for your L's!) - HSV Clubsport - Lexus IS200, GS300, LS430 - Nissan S15 um, thats about it from the good list as far as I can remember. I also drove a hyundai excel once on my L's... first and only non power steering car i have ever driven. Made my arms sore too
  14. well, i must say that the autobarn in mornington (vic) is a POS. I went in there and they dont even have performance parts. Its more just oil filters etc. However, my local autobarn store when im on holiday is tweed heads and its good. 1 guy owns TWUBLE celica, another a very nice v8 ute, another a WRX and another a skyline... so between them they actually know what they are talking about..... and i always get gooood discounts from them. supercheap on the other hand is super crap. The fact that a 16 yo school girl can get a job at an auto store is crap. Apart from being generally useless people, the employees at supercheap have no knowledge on cars and trying to get help there can be a pain... so i steer clear unless i know what im after.
  15. I just drove my parents cars. I only know of one person who had a car before they had their P's and that was his dads datsun that had been sitting in the garage for 15 years. however, on my L's i got to drive almost any car u can think of, so that was good
  16. um, wtf is a rb20det cover?... and no NEED TO USE ALL CAPS.
  17. firstly, i would happily drive a 32, but I actually did like the whaleness of the R33, and I much prefer the interior of the R33. One thing that pisses me off is the controls like lights, wipers etc... and then the rest of the dash has that ugly 80's bumpy shit plastic everywhere. handling wise i wouldnt say they are much better. I found that my mates 32 (which had boost, fmic, teins, racing seats etc) was alot easier to keep sideways in the wet one day we did a mountain run. I put this down more to the lack of engine power and wider tires (both compared to my r33). In everyday driving i dont think you would notice any difference. secondly, i would STRONGLY recommend shopping around before using someone like J-spec imports. Also, I think its a big claim to say they "have the BEST contacts in japan with private sellers and auction houses" only reason I say this is becuase I know of 2 people that had troubles. Im sure it happens with every broker, but i wouldnt take Autotrust's advice like the gospel and would shop around the brokers if you do chose to go that way.
  18. yer parking lots suck. my sister took my 4wd down to coles in tweed heads (its only a shitty 91 surf) and some ****er has put a 20cm key mark along the rear door. some people really need to learn to respect other peoples stuff.
  19. my drivers side window tint had to be replaced as it got a nice 4cm gouge in it. After removing door trim and window surround, the tinter slowly peeled it off, then using soapy water and a razor blade went over the whole window and got the glue off, and kept doing that till it was all good, then used a squigy thing to wipe it clean. he made it look easy, and only took him 5-10 mins, but expect it to be a bit of a shit, but not impossible.
  20. 1k for tires? hmm, just average 17's cost me 1k for the set... i think youd be looking at 2k in tires to fit the gtr rims niceley.. and keep your 60k toy on the road. Other than that and compliance issues, it could be a good deal... still budget 70k i reckon.
  21. hey, its all good that we are getting something going now, but do you think we could have more than a days notice. I practically live over the road from there and would have come if I had known... also, portsea cruise sounds good
  22. mick stanic has 2 x r32 gtr seats for sale if you trust him. check the for sale section in SDU.
  23. Philip - I can get them from japan. They are around $800 I think. dave
  24. okay. i will settle this i have driven them all for about 5000kms each, and given them a good work over. I have to say that sheer fun factor both the s2000 and mini are great. The open top of the s2000 combined with a nice stiff chassis makes it a great driver on a good day. On the other hand, the mini handles like its on rails and you can have a blast, but its really not that quick, and coming from and s15 you will get bored i would say (fwd too). The old type R feels a bit more hard core than the new one - but both are nice, again tho, fwd takes the fun out of it a bit for me. if you go the s2000, get the hard top option. It looks hell sexy, and makes the car feel alot nicer to drive on those shitty days. btw - cant beat the 9000rpm red line from the VTEC's.
  25. i remember when inark ****ed up a taxi driver. that was about 3 years ago
