Getting my first Skyline need some info help/ feedback
dAVE replied to II Chris II's topic in Victoria
well, firstly, i dont think you will have a problem unless you break the law... but when you do, you stick out like a sore thumb in a skyline with p plates.. so be careful chirping up tires etc, especially in busy areas. The tiptronic is just an auto that lets you manually change gears. Its no quicker / better than any other plain auto. I have driven most tiptronics available and find them all pretty shit. Yet to test the BMW m3 tho If your looking for a manual S1 r33, you can buy mine Dave -
They tried to get me on it the other day so I showed them my weigh slip and said that the car was 160 kw...
-
Put my car on a weighbridge the other day and got 1420kg without rear seats.. so being generous add another 10kg. That makes it about 126kw per tonne assuming its 184 kw. So chuck a 40kg bag of concrete in your boot and run it over the pits. Then you can show them that it is infact under the legal limit.

respect is burning then summer dayz i think... reminds me I should get tickets soon

according to this, I would assume that it is now in force. ROAD SAFETY (RESPONSIBLE DRIVING) ACT 2002 Section 5. Demerits register (1) In section 25 of the Road Safety Act 1986, sub-sections (2A) and (2B) are repealed. (2) In section 25 of the Road Safety Act 1986, for sub-section (3) substitute- (3) The Corporation must serve a notice containing the prescribed particulars on: (a) the holder of a full driver licence if he or she incurs 12 or more demerit points within any 3 year period; and (B) the holder of a learner permit or probationary driver licence if he or she incurs: (i) 5 or more demerit points within any 1 year period; or (ii) 12 or more demerit points within any 3 year period.". (3) In section 25(3B) of the Road Safety Act 1986, for paragraph (a) substitute: (a) in the case of a person who holds a full driver licence, suspend the licence for 6 months and an additional 2 months for each 4 demerit points in excess of 12 recorded against the person as at the date of issue of the notice under sub-section (3); and (ab) in the case of a person who holds a learner permit or probationary driver licence, suspend the permit or licence for: (i) 6 months in respect of the first 5 demerit points recorded against the person as at the date of issue of the notice under sub-section (3); and (ii) an additional 2 months for each 4 demerit points in excess of 5 recorded against the person as at that date; and". (4) In section 25(3B) of the Road Safety Act 1986 (a) in paragraph (B), for "that person" substitute "the person referred to in paragraph (a) or (ab)"; and (B) in paragraph ©, for "the person" substitute "the person referred to in paragraph (a) or (ab)".

I am thinking I will cop a 3 month suspension and 3 points and thats it. If I dont get out of the double line charge I will get another suspension as P platers lose their license if they get more than 5 points in a year. The cops were in a red undercover SS and I didnt spot them cos it was dark so all I could see was headlights up my arse. I was actually thinking it was a cop at the start then when I saw how shit drivers they were I thought it was the local rye bogan brigade trying to annoy me. Anyway, its a bitch but I did break the law in regards to speeding, so im pretty sure I wont get off all together.

i think you will find he is more than just a cheque book. If that was the case anyone could do it. I am sure he has put in a hell of a lot of time and his on knowledge into building the car, so therefor you would classify it as his.

heres my first bit of proof they are knuckle heads. Also, there is enough proof to clearly show it was impossible I crossed over and back on anything but dotted lines, so I think it will stand up pretty well in court that they lied and didnt know what they were doing. Then I guess the speed reading they took was probably fudged like the rest

got a friend whos an ex police prosecuter so he knows a fair bit. Will only go to court if I am 99.9% sure of winning, cos if I lose, the judge will prolly give me a conviction for wasting time and having such a large ticket etc, so then it will be hard for me to practice law in the future if I ever finish my degree. :S

Bad luck dude. Hopefully it wont set you back too much. I have seen boots with wings for around $500 (usually s2 or gtr wing style) I think a rear bumper would probably be $150 - $300 from a wrecker. Dont forget to add in respray costs. dave

well, some good news this morning.. kinda... I went back to where I was caught as I was sure it was an 80 zone not a 60zone like the officer said and printed on the ticket... It was actually a 70 zone which means that I lose it for 4 months only... not the 6 months + extra for losing all demerit points. I went and saw the officers at the station and was told to "stop wasting their time" by asking for the ticket to be re-issued. I polietly stated that it was a hard blow with the tickets and lowering would still be a hard blow but fair as I was not speeding as much as they claimed. They then went on to say they were following me for 5km and that it was the way I drove. Funny that I didnt speed for that whole time, but they told me I accelerated too fast, then overtook too fast (no shit). Just realised that if I hadnt got my vic license on thurs, I would have only been suspened from driving in vic, not on the gold coast. ALSO, speaking to the officers (who r actually from geelong) outside as we were leaving, a S15 drove past with a loud exhaust. Cop 1 says to Cop 2 "lets get him" ... ran to their SS and pulled a massive burnout onto the street and booted it (prolly 150 in a 60 zone!) ... talk about ****ing cowboys.

Well, after finally getting the car sorted, license and rego, I got done overtaking tonight. Ended up with 6 month suspension for 40 over the limit. Also got done for apparently re entering the road on double lines (not true) & not having p plates shown (they were :S ) Looks like I will sell the car and use the tram for the next 6 months. Not sure if I will return to a turbo car for a while. Might put more emphasis on saving some money for a house or something more useful. BUT, i still have my license for 28 days.... so I am still up for 1 last cruise Dave

i know my car wakes my next door neighbour up in the morning when I warm it up, but shes cool with it. I know that most of you would get pissed if a big v8 warmed up for 10mins 20metres away at 6 every morning. I think that the lady should take it easy, but at the same time, it always helps to be considerate when you can.

Im back to being victorian again! re rego of car in vic now and vic license. Also got my new clutch and suspension, just need tint and detail next week and i will be sweet for summer... and hopefully join you guys on a cruise soon.... or a late night munchies cruise to BBNT's sometime! Dave

I got a hicas one for my 33 from autobarn. Only cost about $70. When I was there I asked about the 32's and they had them both at the same price. ~ $70 for HKB boss kit.

I have a clarion in my surf and it took ages to get it working with the electric antenna. I would say that its most likely never connected when the head unit was installed... but it could be related to the electric motor on the antenna.
-
what is the vin & chassis numbers. I cant remember the 32's, but they are diff for non turbo, turbo, etc. That should tell you waht it is / was. I think it makes a significant difference in resale value, so make your consider that too if you decide to purchase it.

yeh, i nicked named it newell highway too

mine is stock... fairly... and went right through to 7500rpm.

or you could lash out and get yourself one of the high performance dry cell batteries. Nice and small but pack a good punch. About $300 tho. Dave

well from all my hard studying at uni i think that the club or an individual could be sued if they were deemed to be negligent. The way I see to get around this is that we would have to have a code of conduct (similar to r31 club) and the organisers of the cruise would have to follow them. If it could be proven that SAU was negligent (in the fact that they didnt enforce those rules etc, or encouraged illegal behaviour) then I think it would be quite possible that the club could be sued. Same with individuals. If you do something stupid on a cruise it causes an accident, then you could be personally sued. dave p.s - that could all be wrong, but i think its kind of correct
