2002 Bnr34 Gt-R V-Spec Ii
Four - Twelve replied to HIRISK's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Sounds like you have certainly been doing your research, and have this pretty well planned out. The gutted afm will certainly not restrict your power levels like they otherwise would have. I've actually never heard of someone doing that (albeit not really researched), so I am curious how they will perform as compared to blanks. I am actually in two minds about doing exactly what you are doing with my ride, so I will be following this thread to see how you R is coming along. The previous owner of my gtr annoyingly put an atm vented ssq bov where yours is currently, whilst tuning the car with L-jetro. This has obviously made it very difficult to tune and sometimes hunts idle and even stalls on stopping. I can either covert to map less (the more expensive option but allowing greater potential), or return the bovs to stock (cheaper but more limiting in the long run as I would still be running the factory afms). Still weighing up the pros and cons of each before I decide. I am also impressed that you have decided to track this bad boy, and given the brakes and suspension upgrades, you'll finally be doing this car justice. It is interesting that you are choosing such high power for daily driving though - or at all on stock internals. I am no expert so take this with a grain of salt, but I have heard A LOT of people saying pushing power much past 350kw on a factory rb won't end well. That said, Racepace seem to have a very good reputation, so I am sure that they know what they are doing. -
Some amazing cars here. Makes me almost ashamed to put mine up. dlai - did you get that car from Derek by any chance? Not many MNP gtrs floating around that are that clean. And for the sake of adding something other than text, here is mine anyway.

Liking where this is heading and your commitment to fine tuning this build is commendable. There is nothing wrong with the factory system until big power is required. Are you looking to keep to d-jetro for the retune? Or are you looking to change to another platform? I also hope you have non stock afms for the swap otherwise you can expect your power to be capped at low 300kws. -

Kane's Gr34Tr Build
Four - Twelve replied to kaneryan's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
It's John. It's good that you know where you want to take this car and seem to have done appropriate research as well - a lot of people don't show this foresight and end up with a car that doesn't work, or a huge debt, neither of which are something you want. And why spend money on something you don't really need at this stage anyway. Did you have trouble mount the ts diffuser to a non spec? I know new mounts are required for fitting a oem diffuser, making it a right pain to fit. -
Kane's Gr34Tr Build
Four - Twelve replied to kaneryan's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Looks like the build is coming along well. Which diffuser is that? Top Secret? Also, which exhaust required you to cut into the rear bar? Most exhausts for gtrs should clear this but perhaps one didn't? I am sure you are probably aware that head work can be an expensive procedure and can snowball if you let it. Perhaps for reliability's sake consider replacing the valve springs and adding an oil restriction orifice whilst you are at it, the later of which is cheap as chips with the head off. Will be following this thread. -
Which Intercooler For R34 Gtr?
Four - Twelve replied to Iron Mike's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Can't say much about those specific intercoolers and their respective performances, but I can provide insight regarding sizing. If you are running a factory front bar, you will almost certainly need to cut away some of it for both the 115mm and 103mm intercoolers. I am currently running a 100mm thick intercooler on my 34R, and I had to cut into my oem bar to get it to fit. If you go down this path, be prepared to not run the grating, or to fabricate a new mounting system for said grating. I fear that there won't be much bar left if you decide on the 115mm option. Z-tune and perhaps S-tune bars do allow greater clearance for intercoolers, and should clear the 103mm cooler, but 115mm may still be pushing it. Hopefully someone else can provide their experiences with these bars and larger intercoolers. Best of luck with whatever path you go down. -

Nissan Skyline R34 Gtr Z- Tune For Sale
Four - Twelve replied to SiR_RB's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Don't worry about it MrFijiGold, it's not your fault at all. I'm over it and have moved on. Back on topic, Bobbyr34, pending the circumstances of the car, i.e. if it is still with you or not (guessing by your statement above, you still have it), I was wondering what mediums you have used in order to sell it. Obviously ebay as mentioned before for it's range to the international market, but other than that, were you just going through word of mouth? Obviously the car is a collectable and appeals to a niche market, so sites like Gumtree and Carsales might not fit the bill. Obviously only answer at your own disgression. Best of luck with the sale (if you haven't already). -

Sorry, I took "I was the one that mentioned the car had been sold to a person in Greece, not MrFijiGold" to mean 'I was the one that mentioned the car had been sold to a person in Greece, not sold to MrFijiGold'. That point is obviously now void - please disregard. -

Well it sounds like you've done a complete backflip on your statement, as per post number #65 where you say it is not the one from MrFijiGold's post, and now conceed that it is infact #14. What you have said up until the above post gives the impression that there was actually another (3rd) that was in Aus, so pardon me for trying to connect the ill fitting dots. Also, if you read "one of which is now in Greece as per MrFijiGold's post" to mean that MrFijiGold owns the car, obviously 'you should read things more carefully.' By looking at his post, he clearly makes no statement of ownership, so how could you possibly interpret me to making that assumption, particularly as "the other owned by the member above" was clearly directed at someone else. Please disregard - I made an error in interpretation which I apologise for. Whilst I conceed that you are correct with 20 builds of the Z-tune, your statement has appeared to catch many off guard, even instigating Bobby to inquire about the number manufactured; Yet, I will reiterated that I was wrong, and that 20 appear to be in existence (confirmed by BMI - which I believe is a credible source). Anyway, I hope that we can move on from this and let bygons be bygons. Carry on. -
Nissan Skyline R34 Gtr Z- Tune For Sale
Four - Twelve replied to SiR_RB's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
My interpretation of what you have been saying is that there have been 3 Z-tunes in Aus. Many people are familar with 2 of them, one of which is now in Greece as per MrFijiGold's post, the other owned by the member above. The prior of which you confirm isn't the car you speak of, and obviously, neither is the later. Furthermore, against the popular notion that there are 19 Z-tunes in existance, you have come out to say that there is actually 20. Now it seems a little suspiscious that a third Z-tune seems to have flown under the radar when imported into Aus by this ex GT racer you speak of, and that suddenly there is an now an extra Z-tune that was produced by Nismo over its production. This mystery Z-tune wouldn't happen to be #20 would it? -

I am John, Nick is my friend. He was asking about the two remaining spots today - one for him, one for me (or at least that's what he told me). With Nick considered, is that spot still available? If so, could you please hold it until tomorrow so that I can pay? -

Keen. Everything ready to go, but can't pay until tomorrow (at max daily transfer). Could you please hold one spot of the two remaining? My friend emailed today about the two remaining spots. Cheers -
Not meaning to take away from your credibility, but remember that this is the exact reason that hks eids exists. Refer bottom of page; https://www.hks-power.co.jp/en/product/blow_off/option/index.html This relates to why stalling occurs - air passes the afms that is subsequently lost to the atmosphere. The extra fuel that you talk of is a compensation for the air that is expected to be in the engine, causing it to run very rich - hence the smoke. This scenario also relates to the stalling issue, as when the car is slowing down/ stopping, the air is once again lost and air that the car thinks is going to the combustion chamber, doesn't arrive. The car hunts idle and can even stall.

Previous owner did this on my car before purchase. It was a pretty stupid mod as he chose to run a standard pfc. The symptoms you mention are true if you are running an ecu that reads off the AFM's. Apparently (yet to convert mine) this is no longer the case when you get rid of the AFM's with something like Haltech or D-Jetro etc. I wouldn't bother with EIDS, just covert the tuning platform or plumb it back. Or save yourself the money and keep it stock.

Jdm Tuning Scene In Japan Today
Four - Twelve replied to Iron Mike's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Just re read my post from last night. I mean't to say the FD2 was the only car I actually saw at a car related venue, the rest were all cruising the streets. As the cars age, I can only expect it to get worse - I can't remember the last time I saw a VL turbo, and they used to be everywhere. I can only hope that the introduction of the 86 will inspire other companies to introduce new cars to the scene - hopefully at the affordable price as well. -
Jdm Tuning Scene In Japan Today
Four - Twelve replied to Iron Mike's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I too just came back from Japan. I had a slightly different experience. Sure, I didn't see tuners on every corner, but in the week I was in Tokyo, I saw an Sti Forester, 2 s series WRX's, a few evo 10's and grb Sti's, an NSX, an FD2, an FD rx7, a couple of supras and VIp crowns/chasers and more rb gtrs than I can count on one hand. The only car that wasn't seen at a car related venue was the FD2 at Autobacs. Maybe I got lucky though. For those looking to build a car related trip in the future, I would also recommend Toyota Mega Web. Half of it is like a giant car dealership, with racing simulators and a virtual ride, as well as test driving of new cars, including the 86 (with international drivers license). The other part is the history museum, which contains a handful of classic Japanese cars, including a Hakosuka, Fairlady Z, 2000gt, the original Mazda Cosmo, toyota F1 car, as well as a few imports, including 50's caddy's, a chevy stingray, a delorean and more. You can get right up to all of these cars, close enought to look in the windows, and in the case of new cars, sit in them. All is free of charge. From my research I didn't go to the Nismo Omori Factory as it appeared that there wasn't actually much to see there. Obviously you got a better experience because of your contacts. For future visits, would you say the museum would justify the travel? -
