  1. Are you referring to the factory one? If so, LOL. OK, 3 types in use
  2. About the same distance for me to Willowbank. Went once & they cancelled at last minute due to some clouds .
  3. Too easy Josh. Cam's is more stealth; going under everything & in black.
  4. Nice installs. You mounted the can with the inlet/outlet at the bottom or do the hoses turn up once thru into the brake enclosure? So, nothing collected in passenger side? Maybe something to do with the altitude, lol. There'd be nearly no vacuum where it's plumbed into the intake (was yours plumbed in between filter & turbo?) as the only restriction is the filter itself - maybe a couple of inches of mercury? Gravity may help out on mine as it's mounted much lower. I tipped half a cup of sludge out of it yesterday.
  5. Why can't we all agree on something, lol? My catch can is one like yours. Maybe there's something to your theory about altitude... That's a good spot Josh Excuse the eclectic mix of coloured hoses - I just use what I have available to hand - function over form.
  6. I did that a while back & I could suck air thru and it 'clicked' as the ball/valve shut when I blew & I couldn't get any air to pass thru. But I also tried out a boost gauge once & couldn't get the needle to budge, not even 1psi, lol. So I don't think my lung test is very valid as 15+ psi is vastly different to my 0.2psi .
  7. Looks like I have a mildly dangerous project to do later, lol. The only thing I can think of is if the PCV valve leaks with boost forcing against it (ie doesn't seal), there could be issues. All I know is my old turbo smoked like crazy with it connected & didn't with it off. And I can't see how anyone could possibly plumb this catch can in wrong.
  8. Yep, I know that (both that you don't use the HDI & that you are a little 'different', lol), that's why I said almost every M35 owner... You would be the odd man out in that regard I think. I don't know of any other fmic's in use other than HDI & yours. Of course ignoring Alex's PNM.
  9. OK, I don't remember reading that - maybe that explains why it took me significantly longer than you It's a good cooler & you got it for a good price. Cost me nearly $100 more a year ago, but I still think it was good value. Works great & easy to install - that's why almost every M35 owner on here is using the HDI.
  10. An hour?? Nice work Clint. When I did mine I think I spent an hour unboxing it and marvelling at all the shiny, lol. In that case you will do your turbo swap in half a day Why did you remove the headlight?
  11. Yes & no. It is there but not hooked up. Everytime I connected the hose my old turbo would smoke because the seals were shot. It must have been adding pressure to the system. Maybe my PCV valve is stuffed, although it seemed to be doing it's job when I removed it to check. I have literally only just got my new turbo in (& now not leaking ) so I can connect the catch can again & see what happens. Hopefully my PCV doesn't allow boost into the engine & the pressure blows out something important... Alex, I know you stuffed your can with steel wool. The theory is to filter the oil out of the air better, right? How long did it take to poke it in thru the drain hole?
  12. I can't believe how long the 'piano' reference has hung around, lol.
  13. Not in this case because it isn't routed back to the plenum. After the catch can it goes into the intake before the turbo. At idle it is subject to atmospheric pressure only.
  14. Or any tablet with a browser (mainly linked to it for ironpaw). But using a dual DIN head unit to display gauges would be very cool
  15. Something else to throw into the mix: http://14point7.com/iDash.php
  16. Thanks Cam. Yes, catch can under airbox. I just replaced the abomination of multi sized tubes that was my last effort. The clear will be decidedly brown in a few months, lol.
  17. Installed this to encourage more air down my AFM bypass.
  18. Thanks Ryan, I didn't see that listed. Speaker mounts really do look OEM. I'm not the biggest fan of the leather colour, but IMO it is a great price for such a nice example of M35. I would buy it if looking now. Even running my favourite tyre.
  19. Hey peter, what's that on your A pillar?
  20. Hey, don't forget Dale, your time needs to go into Alex's 'facts & figures' thread. Currently 3rd or 4th fastest time from memory.
  21. Less than a tenth separates the four runs! Congrats, very consistent Theo. Did you try to vary anything to get a different (better) result? Were you able to get wheel spin at the start line or too grippy?
  22. Well done guys. Very consistent times Theo Nice timeslip Dale. Is that about what I said....? Big improvement over your stock runs, as you'd expect given what you've done recently.
  23. Too much grip on the track?
  24. I agree. If you don't mind your car being out of action for the duration of the shipping to Sydney & back, get Craig to do it. If you tee it up with him, he normally has the VB turned around same day. Easy job to remove the VB & reinstall, just a bit messy. However, if you can't be without the car for more than a day, then I guess the extra cost can't be avoided. Unless you do the whole lot yourself....
  25. So, where did the turbo come from & what made it more difficult / require more mods?
