What Have You Done To Your Stagea Lately?
Commsman replied to Hanso's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
I installed a wastegate actuator with an external spring, Twas a right pain as had to remove most of my intake to get the job done, but by all accounts it will help get the most out of the stock turbo so a worthwhile exercise. Thanks Scotty, I'll have my old one back to you in the post on Monday. -
That's really cool Scott. I guess it's possible to change how much boost is required to open the exhaust up by changing the leverage point. That would make it a viable option for guys running less boost than you. Let us know your experience after using it for a while. I wonder if you will find it a little bit restrictive before you get up to full boost, or if you won't notice it at all....

And the most obvious thing is to change the battery before chasing more obscure causes. Even though the voltage may look OK, I've seen funny stuff happen. My M35 battery problem showed up when the car began opening the tailgate by itself. Then it moved onto weird flashing lights on the dash before the usual not starting the car when I turned the key. It may not be a bad battery, but it's real easy to change & thus rule out as the cause.

I hate it how you always sit on the fence Dale. Why don't you get an opinion for once? LOL.

Ignition Harness Location And Acc Wire
Commsman replied to R6n350GT's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Hey Nate, post up a pic of it installed when you get a chance. I'm keen to see how it looks. -
LOL. Eugene & I may have a bit in common so I decided to add him to my sig. He's certainly spent some ruples on his Stag. Who was it in WA that had trouble getting the cruise function on the Pivot throttle controller to work (Tom?). Just ask Eugene, he got his working, after a bit...

I guess for most of us the 2 tyres would have to be the same size as what we are currently using so as not to stuff up the atessa. It's a shame really because the price is good . Hey, Leigh. Where were you last cruise day? We pretty well drove into Murwillumbah. I was surprised you didn't come along.

Great, thanks for clearing that up - I thought you were supporting the 'no cooling in manual mode' team with your info, hence my confusion. I too thought it strange that Nissan (or anyone) would design the transmission to not send fluid thru the cooler when you would need it most. That would also help to explain why I couldn't find any reference to this process in info on the ECU/TCM & AT in the manuals. I'll try to do a similar test sometime to see if my result is the same as yours.

OK, so now I'm confused. If the gearbox stopped pumping fluid thru the trans cooler/s when in manual mode, wouldn't they be cool(ish) to the touch after a drive using nothing but manual mode? The standard temp of the fluid should be about water temp or a bit higher (since it flows thru the radiator cooler normally), so did 'quite warm' feel significantly less than say 90 deg?

And getting back to the dyno run & 'numbers', this makes good reading. http://www.sdsefi.com/techdyno.htm

This Is The New Recipe Chat Thread...
Commsman replied to Houdini's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Out of interest, what you they weigh (roughly)? -
Nice one Alex. If I understand you correctly, it's not the making of the extra power that buggers with the gearbox shifts, it's the fact that much bigger injectors are being used? The base fuel schedule essentially works off injector pulse width, correct? So when adding bigger injectors you reduced the numbers in your table (to about 12 in your case) to get the fueling right, but that played up with the corresponding relationship with the gearbox computer (that was expecting numbers like 20). Aren't you lucky to be able to delve into the programming.... aren't we (NM35 owners) a little bit screwed then, lol. Well not me as yet, just you other guys with the big squirters. There's a way around it tho, I'm sure. re the wheel spin. Care required in the wet by the looks of it.
-
I agree - the number means very little at this stage. There's obviously lots more in it should you wish to push it. Sort out the gearbox & other minor things & see what happens. In the end it's all about the drive. I'd take tractable, low down power any day over a high end peaky engine with a 'big number'.

V36...what Oil Do You Use?
Commsman replied to Vamanos's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
What's your opinion on teflon in engines? Isn't that (PTFE) what Slick 50 was mainly made with & now a lot of other engine treatments? -

White on white hey.... look forward to the pics when fitted. Why so small on the tyres? Is 235/40 a common size for ones you're considering? 245/45 is much closer for speedo accuracy, plus a bit of extra sidewall to absorb big holes. Of course if you want more of the low profile look then they would be ok, but I'd consider going to 19's if that"s the case. Yeah, I'm loving the cruise too. I use it nearly every time I take the car out. PS For those last few guys waiting on theirs, I'm in contact with my buyer every week & they assure me they are going to be sent soon. I think the factory has discovered what country they are coming to & is taking their time sending the last of the harnesses, just to punish me. -
So, any of the 3 stags pictured above at AJD on SAU? If not, why not?

Oh? Ok then, Jezza for you recycling junk into performance & maintenance enhancing thingos. -

Haha. ummm, yeah, that does qualify I suppose. I'd be concerned about that bouncing off under the car & giving me a mild panic attack as I (however briefly it may be) think something important has busted & fallen off. You probably won't see that one appearing on my car anytime soon, but I'm sure it is effective nonetheless. Looking thru the emoticons for a 'half thumbs up', lol, but no luck. -

Nice one Jezza . Stuff like that provides maximum bang for buck because you hardly spend a buck (just a bit of time). I couldn't let it pass without giving you the thumbs up; my sig says it all. -
doubled up.

How hot a day will it be? What's the barometric pressure & humidity? 242rwkw. Lol, says me with such confidence (I've never seen a dyno run in real life). Good luck & I hope you get a nice surprise.

Wheel Alignment (Adelaide)
Commsman replied to Midnight-Runner's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Good advice. I think when you find somewhere you can trust you should stick with them. Does anyone know where I can find the factory alignment specs? I'm trying out a new guy & so far seems very particular, but he wants the factory specs as a baseline to modify. Last alignment was too recent ago (2000km) to tell from tyre wear yet, & I don't really want to ruin a set of treads just for trial & error. -
Superpro Potential Group Buy
Commsman replied to bigkevracer's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Picked mine up from the PO today. Thanks Ryan. -
It would most likely be one of the items labelled in this pic. Hint, probably not the round things in each door, lol. Unfortuantely, because it's a picture, I can't copy into a translator. Also check out the AV manual for the G35 which should be available on the awesome forum. That will tell you (in English) how to test for correct operation - even tho it's different it should be close enough to confirm working or not. The AV manual for the M35 is half the size of the G35 one (8mb v's 3.8mb) so not sure what's missing on our cars. Maybe Japanese is more efficient at explaining this stuff.
