  1. Do you know what they weigh? Is that a reasonable offset for my M35 (RS 250t)?
  2. You may have misunderstood my post. It reads as one long sentence. To paraphrase, the standard airbox will flow more air than the engine will most likely ever need. But, to make it harder to read (lol), I also inserted that the air will most likely be colder & the extra restriction will be negligible (referring to std airbox). I have no doubt a pod filter can flow more air (I admit that change on the informeter is surprisingly large Ryan), but at what cost? More flow generally equals less filtration (no such thing as a free lunch). It's a matter of weighing up risk v's reward I guess. I've read lots of tests that show pod filters often provide no measurable gain, so I'd rather spend my $100 on something else. I wouldn't mind being proven wrong (before & after dyno tests anyone?) but I don't want to risk my engine ingesting dust & grit for the sake of a few kW (I live in the country remember). For an extra 10+rwkw maybe I would; but I'd be dreaming if I thought that was realistic. Having voiced my opinion, I understand people spend more money on an exhaust because they like the sound, so if the extra induction/turbo noise puts a smile on your face, than that's cool .
  3. If it were me, I'd go with Sheldon's & get it painted. Paint shop may be able to repair the original, but it will need painting anyway. Probably less hassle (& labour) to go with the white one. Bummer about your car mate. Hope it gets back to mint condition soon.
  4. Hi Mathew, factory airbox is way better than a pod, as I guess you've worked out, lol. You can get them to work, but why bother when the airbox & standard filter will flow more air (& colder) at negligible restriction than the engine will most likely ever need. Cheers, Leon.
  5. Haha, yes, maybe that. But it would have to already come with a turbo conversion for me to look seriously...
  6. Even for guys who haven't invested as much, the M35 is such a brilliant car in so many ways, not the least it's practical - even for non family people - that there's very little to compare (nothing for the money). I can't think of one other car I could buy right now that would replace mine. When you factor in the rarity (how many were made?); if you want a fairly unique, performance, luxury wagon for not a lot of $, what else would you buy?
  7. Spoken like someone living with regret ??? BTW, how's it going mate? I wonder if it's a Melbourne thing? If Scotty announces he's selling, the whole M35 world will implode... tear in T/S continuim & all that
  8. If you have the factory audio, the buttons you have should work, so maybe they are disconnected. If you have an aftermarket headunit, sometimes they are compatible with OEM controls, otherwise there are adaptor boxes that can work, depending on brand/model. The cruise control switches come on a wiring harness with the audio switches attached, so your old buttons will come out & the new ones go in. If your headunit isn't compatible with steering wheel switches, they'll have to sit there looking pretty (much like now, lol) because there's no easy way to leave them off. It could be doable, but why bother when a new headunit could come along in the future where you could use them.
  9. I think he means just traction issues, ie wheel spin. Yes, I would think that if you significantly increased the power you are going to have some traction concerns on the strip/track when you are only RWD. Although you would think the cars 'traction control' system would help a lot IF you left it on, lol. Otherwise, sticky tires & good throttle control will be your friends.
  10. Hi everyone I have for sale a limited number of cruise controls. The kit is a bargain @ $490 delivered. I've had mine in for about a month & it is hands down the best non performance mod I have done. Thread is here: http://www.skylinesa...35-diy-install/ Cheers, Leon.
  11. Hi everyone I have a limited number of cruise control systems for sale. They come with the factory switches for your steering wheel & these have LEDs so you can see what the button function is in the dark. It will take a couple of hours to install & the details are documented. You only need to connect 4 wires (12V, brake x 2 & speed sensor) to get it working, plus the dash light input (from cig lighter) if you want the switches to light up. You also get the stalk control which you use to program the unit to work on the factory controls & you can even configure it for various levels of responsiveness (tip - leave in factory settings to start with). The audio controls come in the same harness so if you have the factory sound system then it will just work. Cost is $490 delivered for the whole kit - an absolute bargain since these ones are typically $900 installed without the steering wheel switches. PM me for more details. Cheers, Leon.
  12. They must be since so many are online during work days. I'm sort of there as well (own a boutique ISP/phone company) but not an IT geek as such.
  13. I'd heard that from Aaron, & it would want to be a great mod before I decided to go backwards on fuel economy. My ethos is always 'more for less', & I'm not sure that mod fits the job description.
  14. M35 200SX
  15. Thanks mate. I'll confirm on the weekend, after I've got it out.
  16. Come on Craig, you can fix it. Don't let is beat you or else you will always be that guy.... lol. Caveat - if the sum of all the parts is worth more than the car as a whole and you get a new one, then you will be THAT guy .
  17. Maybe they will eventually move on when the wheels fall off the VLs, but hopefully not move to Stags. So, when is 'cog night' in Lismore? I'll have to make sure I'm never there in case a VL backs into me.
  18. Do I get a certificate? What are you doing next week? I might pull mine apart this weekend & send it to you if you can fit me into your schedule.
  19. That's a great find Andrew. They've really come down in price since I put mine in less than 2 months ago. I'm pleased to have supported Cam tho, since he put a lot of time into getting these early on. But you should jump on that deal & get it in before Christmas
  20. Black C34 heading east from Goonellabah this arvo about 4:20. Looked all shiny. We both did the point & wave. Anyone on here?
  21. Craig, can you organise an installer in Newrybar?
  22. Looks like I'm even more keen on the comfort - full soft for me . And as Ryan said, I ordered mine 2kg/mm softer as well. Loving the ride, especially since roads here aren't perfect. Started with more clicks towards hard & worked back to soft. Can corner fast enough to get put in the big house, so why be uncomfortable while doing it?
  23. I have rears only, fronts went to someone else.
  24. Do the sway bars first. That will make a huge difference to the handling, be easy to install yourself & relatively cheap (even if paying someone to do the work). Check with Dale (Daleo) on here who supplies Whiteline swaybars at a good price delivered to your door. There should be a thread from not too long ago. Coil overs will also help but you risk losing a little of your comfortable ride (unless you buy correctly), cost a lot more & are more difficult/costly to install. Of course they provide other benefits like lower ride heights... Cheers, Leon. Edit: I found his group buy link here http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/363819-v35-whiteline-sway-bar-group-buy/page__view__findpost__p__5805363. Just check as he may be able do them individually now.
  25. Dump should be number 1 priority, for both performance, economy & increasing turbo life. A cat-back does help significantly & you will see what we mean when you look at the factory mufflers, especially the HUGE one in the middle of the car. Weight saving along is worth the upgrade, lol. After that, the mid (front?) pipe can be changed for one with a hi-flow cat & there will be more (but lesser) gains. If you do this, get an exhaust bung for wideband sensor welded in at the same time. Stick with any off the shelf filter in the factory airbox as suggested above. IMO if you notice a performance gain just by choosing one filter over another, it's purely placebo.
