  1. Hi guys Started thinking about accommodation for when I come down for the 15th anniversary cruise. Am looking at Travelodge Blacktown (is that place OK?), since it's fairly close to the meet point. Alternatively, anywhere on the way in from the north would suit also. Does anyone have any suggestions?
  2. Ahhh, I see (slaps forehead). Then what I was meaning was turn it into a flare-less RS/RX look. But if there is heaps of work required to patch up bodywork after the flares come off....better not to bother. Edit: thanks Iain, you answered my question.
  3. I vote getting rid of the SUV / crossover look & make it an Axis. Do they leave any marks when they come off?
  4. Hahaha. Ahem...I mean, bugger, that's no good mate. You knew it was loose & dodgy & still you didn't do anything to ensure it was secure. Ever heard of duct tape lol. I'm guessing you couldn't go back & pick it up? Probably stuffed anyway.
  5. It will be good to put faces to names, that's for sure. I doubt I will make it to Coffs Harbour as I've got too much going on, but really looking forward to the Stagea get together. My 14yo son & I are doing the road trip thing. Lots of bad food & stinking up the interior, lol.
  6. Here you go: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/266854-m35-emanage-ultimate/page__view__findpost__p__5832870 Read on for a few pages - you should install a switch so you can "reconnect" it every so often. That will stop the check engine light coming up.
  7. Grab an allen key & remove both the gold locking rings from around the swaybar (takes a few minutes). Check on the top side for marks where it's rubbing. Get a file & remove the corners, & take a little off the top if you want (another 5 - 10 minutes) & replace. You could just loosen & rotate so the flat is exactly in the right place & you'll be fine for a few kms, but it will come back. Mine was right for a while till I went around a long series of corners & then it sounded like my suspension was going to fall out, lol.
  8. I've always wondered what other colours might look like. Red or yellow perhaps. There's millions of colours so you are almost guaranteed of being unique, plus it's paint so you could change it often for a new look. Or not
  9. I like the idea of going to Wiseman's Ferry instead of the dam south of Sydney. Since I'm heading back north after the cruise, that just saved me a few hours driving. Nice. . Looking forward to this event. I hope there's a good turn out & fine weather...
  10. Easy to do. I used some hardish stuff that came wrapped around equipment - not polystyrene, but that would do I guess, just potentially messy. I put it behind the frame/webbing at the back which in turn pushed the front out. I find the lumber adjustment via the lever to be OK, but a little too high on my back to be effective on long drives.
  11. Are these cloth seats you are talking about? I wonder if they're different to the leather? I unzipped my leather one (drivers side) to add a piece of foam to give me some more lumber support lower down. Then just zipped it back up. Yeah it was "tight", but not what I'd call difficult.
  12. Don't you just unzip the cover at the back & lay them in? Anyway, that will keep the passengers entertained. And you have a heap of stuff coming if I recall - you are going to be a busy lad over the next little while.
  13. That was a good thread From my perspective I think a shade over 7 seconds for stock, but that could have been the dodgy Iphone app I was using to time it. It does feel quicker than that tho. I think most time is lost with the throttle restriction in the first 30-40km/hr. Spend $1 & cut the ECU brake wire & put it via a switch (search for posts on this). That could shave half to 1 second off. And welcome!
  14. Just what you need when setting off for a trip....not.
  15. Nah, won't give up that easily, but I didn't get any noticeable gain from the intake anyway, not that I was expecting much. I don't have enough other mods to have really benefitted from it yet. At this stage I was just hoping it would be more efficient & therefore have some fuel consumption gains, but wasn't in long enough (nor working properly) to tell. Now I'm pleased it looks like the turbo has some more life in it. . Job for another day I think.
  16. That's not a bad guess actually. However, that's one thing I can rule out because I installed a catch can on the PCV line & it has clear tubing. There wasn't even a smear of oil in that. What if there was sufficient extra airflow to push 10yrs worth of oil build up in the i/cooler up to where it shot back out the BOV? Mmm, but that wouldn't explain the engine oil consumption... (also my end of week, tired mind throwing an idea around).
  17. Took my brilliant looking (but not functioning correctly) air intake off today. The BOV return pipe had a lot of oil in it. I reckon I needed a catch can bucket on it LOL. When I got the bottom section out, there was oil pooling in there, and in the turbo housing also. So I start thinking that maybe the fuel smoke was partly/mostly oil smoke & my turbo is on it's way out. Bugger, I am quite attached to the factory turbo & didn't really want to be pulling it off & rebuilding. Anyway, I put the factory intake back in & restored all my tuning adjustments so everything was normal & went for a short drive. Surprisingly there was no smoke (that I could see, & it was hard to miss before), so what the hell is that all about? I checked the BOV return & there appears to be less oil (i.e what was there is disappearing) but I won't know for sure until I'm driven it a lot more. I checked the oil level & it was low, so the oil was certainly being consumed (or just filling up my intake/cooler/throttle body etc) & it's only been 3250km since the last change - but that was over 6 months ago. Note to self - "drive car more". lol Q. Why was there oil in my intake/BOV return with the bigger air intake? Is it still a sign of impending turbo failure? BTW, it's not making weird noises or anything that would normally indicate this to be the case, and it's still running stock boost.
  18. Hi Jason, welcome to the forums. PM replied.
  19. Well if it was like mine you couldn't have missed it. Just a glance in the rear view & you'd see a cloud of fuel smoke when backing off. Oh & when it cleared, people behind coughing LOL. Standard intake (with some minor mods) going back on right now to ensure all is OK. Then a rethink....
  20. See, it was worth spending the extra $300 to get them overnight Had mine for more than a week & still in the box. Maybe this weekend...
  21. I believe that is the preferred setup & the way I will install mine.
  22. Thanks Andy, I look forward to reading more reports. My kit should be here soon, but will wait for a bit before installing. If there's any downside at all I'd like to know, but TBO I'm not expecting any given what I've read elsewhere.
  23. I checked the OE pipe & the angle it enters appears to be less than mine (first pic, far side). All the original hoses were left as they were, with just an extension bend added to turn it in the right direction. Do you think that's the issue? Any suggestions on how to improve that part of the design? Thanks, Leon.
  24. He was very active here for a while, wasn't he. People are funny tho. I've got no problem trying stuff & reporting back that it didn't work. That's how we all learn & what makes this forum better than 99% of them out there.
  25. Great story. Reminds me of an episode of that pommy show "The I.T. Crowd" where the geeks give the boss a black box which they say is the internet. Of course it get's broken & panic ensues....
