  1. That's a good point Ryan. There's got to be maybe a dozen guys that have made pretty big efforts & spent plenty of their time (and money ) ringing, emailing, trialling stuff etc to try & find a solution (partial or full) which will benefit everyone. Eventually I'm confident something will work out, maybe even a couple of different options, & who know where the answer will come from? The more people thinking inside & outside boxes the better IMO.
  2. Great write up Dale . I like to see someone who's passionate about something, especially cars. Too much ho-hum, don't care attitudes around these days. And don't worry about the long post. Anyone who reads my posts knows I'm not very concise most of the time lol. And your posts are particularly easy to read with correct spelling and all ! Anyway, now I'm more keen than ever to install them.
  3. I'm looking forward to their arival. Thanks Dale, can't wait to get 'em on.
  4. But not user programmable to cover future mods, correct? So you'd get basic (standard?) fuel, ignition/cam etc maps and then still need a piggyback of some description for tuning beyond that? I got a reply from the South Africans and their system is $531 delivered, and it does some piggyback functions as well, for those that don't want or need tuning to extreme levels. The ECU flash appeals to me more but maybe not ideal for everyone. Who's going to volunteer to try it first?
  5. And for those playing with translation, was there any mention of cost in there at all?
  6. In this instance does "Throttle control map change" equal what we want, or is it just modifying the shape of the curve like those plug in controllers from Pivot etc?
  7. What are those 2 things sticking up at the back?
  8. OK, no luck with any of the Australian distributors. They were either out of business, not answering, wrong numbers, not in or not returning calls. So I called South Africa and spoke with the guy who was half way through replying to my email. His concern was that the STM8-L unit (link again is here) wouldn't be able to differentiate between 1st gear or any other gear, & therefore any change to the throttle mapping would have to be across every gear. What I understand that to mean is that if it was to increase the range from (say) 20% to 50% to be 10% higher (20% = 30%, 30% = 40% etc), then it would be like that all the time. A bit like the throttle controllers that sit between the pedal and the ECU & modify the map, except this would go between the ECU & throttle controller. Of course the lead in would have to be ramped slowly so that you didn't go from 20 to 30% in one hit and likewise on the way out. BUT, he can't guarantee the results. He said it wasn't a lot of money (he will email me a price including shipping etc) & that maybe we should just give it a go..... I may be willing to try it out after I've proved the concept works a little more reliably with my backyard mod, unless mine works so good I don't need anything else . In the meantime, anyone want to take one for the team?
  9. No offence . I am just remembering you saying recently that the centre muffler on your car (same as mine) was "as big as your house". Now that today we have established you live in a villa, I just thought I'd be more accurate. Again, part of my autism, lol
  10. Hey, it's better than no video
  11. I thought it looked like it could work. Was hoping they'd reply offering to send me one to test with a money back guarantee if it didn't work for us. But the slackers haven't responded at all. I'm going to call round the Aust distributors to see if they can find out for us. I'm still wanting to tinker with my setup some more, but a professional setup that works out of the box would be heaps better for everyone.
  12. Yeah buddy, do that. I'd love to hear the difference. Hold it just off to the passenger side. My son held it almost straight on the first time & the lens fogged up with the moisture . Although, different cameras will have different microphones so it won't be a really accurate comparison.
  13. Noooooooo, don't revive this thread. Bad things will happen . I'm still waiting for settlement from the dude who's truck rolled into the back of me in February. Still not fixed but apparently the "cheque's in the mail"....
  14. Yep, will get onto it. Might get my daughter to compile & subtitle them since that's not really my thing. I should actually do one more so that I have: a) totally stock - with the centre muffler that's the size of Iain's villa, lol b) with Scotty's dump pipe and Blitz cat back, but still with 2.5" front pipe & cat c) as it is now with 3" front pipe & hi-flow cat installed (I need to video this one still). I even got the measuring tape out so that each video was recorded at 50cm from tip. Otherwise it's impossible to compare sound levels from one to the others. Mmm, reading this back makes me seem a bit OCD or autistic .
  15. I can vouch for that. Totally astounded that an exhaust I could see through was as quiet as stock. It is louder at the back when you get up it, which is nice, & deeper at idle, which is also nice , but mainly I noticed that the induction noise dropped way down (not sure of science behind this) so overall NVA is reduced when driving normally. There's no doubt that Japanese exhaust designers/manufacturers know their craft. I have before & after videos which I will post on the exhasut thread soon for those interested.
  16. I like it a lot. Nice work .
  17. Now THAT was a good post. All the best for your son with his course. Cheers, Leon.
  18. Found this piggyback / interceptor http://www.perfectpo...id=55&Itemid=59 which says it can adjust traction control (looks similar to our issue). I emailed the head office in Sth Africa last Friday with all the info I gathered plus manuals/diagrams etc. Haven't had a reply as yet.
  19. You are right Ray. That is normally the case. I didn't mean to take the mickey, it's just that if I was to post what you did, I would have triple checked it & Alex's response made me lol, oops, laugh out loud
  20. Welcome to SAU. You may not get too much help in this forum since this is for the Stagea, not Skyline. Perhaps you could repost in the correct forum & you'll probably get heaps of advice. Good luck with your hunt for your perfect Skyline. Cheers, Leon.
  21. See, it's funny because that's what he was talking about. Ahh, humour. I love it because it makes me laugh
  22. I don't want it that bad lol. This mod is a long way down my priority list and slipping even further down if it ends up being that hard. But I must check the Informeter speed wrt GPS to see how close they are.
  23. I will probably drop the shaft some time before (never done it before but can't be hard) but this raises a question. I'm no dyno queen, but how does running in 2WD change results on the dyno (if at all)? If my attessa sees rear wheels turning but the fronts are stationary (thinks it's wheelspin) and sends more torque to the front wheels (not connected anyway), won't that reduce the torque seen by the dyno? I've got idea on this one. Maybe it's a question for a different thread....
  24. Are you saying the Informeter has a different reading to that on your speedo? How does it know if you've changed tyre size for instance? I haven't compared my informeter speed reading with my GPS yet as I only recently got the CAN port to output the speed (long story ), but my speedo is still wrong nonetheless & I would like to make it more accurate. I would almost wager that behind the dash itself would be a wire that feeds a signal to the speedo to display the speed. And mine is out by about 7km/h at 100. You are correct Aaron, the hardest part is finding the right wire. I have one of these kits built but haven't had the time to pull the dash apart to see if i can get it working on my car. You wil have a much higher chance of success on your Stagea tho.
  25. You can click the link in my sig to go straight to a recent thread Hope to hear from you soon. Cheers, Leon. PS Welcome to the forum.
