  1. The part number came from G35driver.com forum. Obviously will need to confirm it is what it's supposed to be before ordering heaps. People trigger alarms all the time for whatever reason. I don't think this project will be any more likely to do it than anything guys might try themselves. And a quick trip to local mechanic will see it sorted for a few bucks (mine does it for free) if they do trip something. I'll be the test and have everything documented on here. People can make up their own mind I suppose. It's even possible for someone to grab one and pay a pro to help out or install it etc. But it looks really easy from the info I've received. Even if the CAN Bus isn't used, there's only a few sensors to connect and it even has (listed as feature) "a self diagnostic function that simplifies circuit detection" and "program search and auto-install function". Also listed, under safety features, point 11 says it is disabled "when any connection becomes disconnected or is incorrectly connected". Sounds pretty safe to me. Re insurance, people make choices as to modify their car or not and weigh things up. I'll leave that up to the individual If they don't want to DIY then I and others will probably point them your way As for me, I like the idea of taking something on and helping others out if I can. Cheers, Leon.
  2. Hey guys, none of you two want to pop off the OBD2 panel under your steering wheel and tell me if your got a wire in pin 14 do you? The question has been raised by me in this post http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ob...us-t344232.html to help with the cruise control buy. I'm hoping mine was just re-routeed for some miscellaneous reason by a previous owner. Cheers, Leon.
  3. Thanks Iain and Dale. I thought the US price was OK. It was from Riverside Nissan in California. Another dealer, Performance Nissan, were very helpful also but were US$13.19 dearer on combined part + freight. I guess I could contact another half dozen to see what price they could do but I'm not sure it's worth the extra time. I chose these guys because they were recommended on G35driver.com. I look forward to hearing the local prices, if it's even possible. Cheers, Leon.
  4. Hi all, I'm putting the finishing touches together on a drive-by-wire cruise control system for M35 Stagea owners. There's every chance it will work with the V35 series also, and so I'm wanting a volunteer (or 2) to check the colours of the wires in the accelerator connector. There should be 6 wires if it's the same as my Stagea. I unplugged it so I could see it easier but I can only see pin numbering on the connector for 4, 5 & 6. So I took a punt as to the order of pins 1, 2 & 3. Mine are: 1. Red/black with silver band 2. Light green/black 3. Black.white with silver band 4. Blue/white 5. Red/green 6. Grey There will be more info released as soon as get answers to some questions (like this one), but it will be worth it. If you are looking for cruise control it should be at your door for $500, or $100 more (maybe less, we're looking into it) if you want the factory panels for cruise & audio on your steering wheel. I think they will even light up at night (to be confirmed). There'll be a full DIY step-by-step posted once they arrive, and if they require additional programming (they have pedal self learning technology ) I can program them before sending out. I look forward to some confirmation, or otherwise, of the plug wiring. Cheers, Leon.
  5. Hi all, just putting the final touches together for a DIY Drive-by-wire cruise control system for M35 / V35's. It comes with the stalk controls if you have an aftermarket steering wheel but the nicest way is using the factory panels that will replace the silver inserts on the standard wheel. I can get these panles in from USA for USD$98 delivered (so pretty much $100 and some silver left over) from a Nissan / Infiniti dealer. Maybe less if we buy 10 or more, but that's unconfirmed as yet. What I'm looking for is a volunteer or 2 to speak with their friendly local Nissan dealer (Hornsby?) to see if they can be sourced cheaper here in Aus. The part number is 25550-AC700. I thought a coordinated approach would be best rather than 5 people ringing the same place. I'll post up more details of the cruise control as soon as I get a few questions answered. But it is brilliant in design and operation (can plug your laptop in via serial port to configure/check all sorts of stuff) & will only cost about $500 plus whatever the factory controls cost and then an arvo of your time. Cheers, Leon.
  6. Hi all Can anyone confirm if the M35 Stagea (and the V35 Skyline for that matter) have CAN Bus signal on the OBD2 interface? I have read this: CAN Protocol Pins : If pins 5, 6, 14 and 16 are populated, the vehicle supports CAN. On the OBD2 connector, 5 = GND, 16 = PWR, 6 & 14 are Data (CAN). My connector has all these except 14 is missing. There is a wire (green/yellow with pink band) turned back in the harness and connected to a different coloured wire. It looks decidedly aftermarket (unsure of its use) and I reckon it would have come from position 14 on the connector. Can anyone drop their OBD2 connector out and confirm they have a wire in pin 14, and report on the colour? If you want to compare all colours, mine are: 1. Yellow/black 2. Empty 3. Red 4. Black (with white dots?) 5. As above 6. Light blue 7. Purple with pink band 8. Green/yellow with pink band 9. White/green with pink band 10. Empty 11. Empty 12. Yellow with pink band 13. Brown/yellow with pink band 14. Empty but probably should have Green/yellow with pink band 15. Empty 16. Red/white with pink band Now, why do I want to know? Anyone without cruise control watch this spot. I'll be posting more info about a drive-by-wire cruise control when I've nailed down some answers (like this one). It can be connected with wires to the speed signal, tacho, brake switch (& clutch if you have a manual) like most D-B-W systems. BUT, to make install easier, it can just have have 2 wires connected to the cars CAN Bus, if it is so equipped, and you don't need the other signal wires. How easy is that! Oh, and 2 other really good things, it plugs into the connector on the accelerator pedal and is compatible with the steering wheel controls. I'll fill in more details soon, but if I get enough interest you could have "state of the art" cruise with factory controls installed at your place in an afternoon for $600 or less. Anyone want to help with wire colours and locations now? Cheers, Leon.
  7. Hi Tom, PM sent. Georgio (and others), everyone is completely correct in what you are saying. I don't know much about the chipsets that these untested units are using, but dual (diversity) inputs would be neccessary. Most of the stuff available on fleabay and other places is not good enough but I'm hopeful that this new unit will be equivalent to the Asuka HR3. If it isn't, we'll just have to get more of the Asuka model in. Cheers, Leon.
  8. Hi Tom I can get Asuka HR3 tuners. I've been chasing them for a while and, of course, they will need to be bought in a quantity. I've been waiting to hear fron Simon (Chook) who organised the last few batches (if fact I bought his very last one) to see if he's interested in getting involved as I'm not overly keen but he might be away as I've had no reply. Or he's totally over the whole thing Before I had a reply from the Asuka dealer, I made contact with a heap of Chinese suppliers and weeded the crap from the less crap and have a sample of a tuner on it's way to me to test. It supposedly has the same specs as the Asuka HR3, including being able to play movies through the USB port (unconfirmed if you can record TV to the USB though) plus it has a HDMI output for the Hi-Def screen you've always wanted to run in the back How it all stacks up against the Asuka remains to be seen but it will be cheaper to buy so could be great value, or it could be a piece of junk. So now that you've asked the question I may as well gauge the response of forum members. Should I go ahead with an order for more Asuka tuners? The cost can't be determined accurately as freight is unknown but they should still be available for around $270 and posted out in Aust shouldn't cost more than $15 surely? If enough people are interested (15+) I will order them. If you were involved sometime previously and want to help distribute these in you local area, please contact me. Cheers Leon. PS. Tom, if you want a HR3 straight away, you can have mine as it's still new in the box. I've not had time nor oppurtunity to install it yet. Just PM me for details.
  9. RWC in NSW with factory Xenons all OK. My M35 has level adjustment via switch/knob so not automatic levelling. Is it supposed to be automatic to be legal? And what's that about washers?
  10. Champion effort! By coatings, are you still talking ceramic? I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not expecting enter a car show so the only way anyone (other than my mechanic?) is going to see the pretty "polished look" dump pipe is if I roll the car in a ditch and it's upside down. So I'm not overly concerned, except darker sounds like it's less likely to show up my grubby fingerprints, and those blood stains from my knuckles from trying to fit it..
  11. Cheers Angus. I'll leave you with it for a while and keep an eye on this thread, or check in with you again in a few weeks. BTW, that looks like an interesting project you've got going on in the pic.
  12. So, another week has passed. How is everything progressing? I know everyone's busy and it's only going to get busier as we get closer to Christmas. Do you think an ETA of late this month is acheivable? (Can you tell I'm keen to get mine...? ) Cheers
  13. Thanks. That should be easy to find then.
  14. What's the street address or nearest cross street so I can navigate there? I'm not a local as you can guess but my son is bugging me to go on the cruise.
  15. Very nice on the ecomony front. Do you have cruise control? You picked a great weekend to come up to Byron. Saturday & Sunday were the only fine days we've had for ages.
  16. It seems Zylux in Australia don't have any to sell right now, unless I'm looking at the wrong url. The info is there (not quite the same specs as the ASUKA HR3 - no USB - but close) however I can't find it in their online shop. You are right about minimum order quantities. But my buyer seems to get around this by buying sample amounts - for muliple customers... Most of the gear I import for my business normally arrives costing me 25% of what I can buy it for here in Aus (yep, save 75%) so I'm confident if he can get it to me then a bargain is to be had by all.
  17. Hah! That's GOLD. Why is it that everyone believes the crap they "hear at the pub" over, well, the TRUTH!
  18. Cheers mate. I really appreciate it.
  19. You can easily do it yourself if you follow the info on the forum. There's an install guide and wiring diagram that Simon has put together in another thread here http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/St...ig-t203961.html Otherwise any audio/alarm type installer could do it for you at a price. Just print out the info & take it along to a few local shops & see what they say.
  20. G'day Angus. How are we looking on numbers now? By my rough count there's at least 10 people interested.
  21. I just bought the last one from Chook a week or so ago. When I found out he had none left I thought I'd ask my "buyer" in China to hunt me down a price on 10-20 of these so I can supply them to forum members at a good price. Give me a week or two to see if I can get the HR3's in at a good price for you.
  22. My wife told me a great Volvo story. Today she was out in the M35 and stopped at a car yard to look at a small car for my daughter who just got her learner's permit. One of the salesman looks out to the street and says "Yeah, you don't want her driving your nice Volvo". "It's not a Volvo" my wife says, followed by some puzzled looks on the salesmen's faces. Then after a very long time one says, "Is that one of them imported Skyline jobs.....?" To which the other one says, "But it's a wagon...?" I love it!
  23. Finally got time to get up to see Chris and he confirmed my yellow plugs dangling under the seats have nothing to plug into. The anti-submarine rams are completely missing from both front seats. "Well, there's your problem" So my airbag fault is different from most. I reckon there wouldn't be too many others out there that started investigating a flashing airbag warning light and found out the components had been NICKED. EDIT: deleted name, address (physical & email), phone number & identikit photo of culprit. For legal reasons.
  24. Just had my Xanavi translated to english today, thanks to Chris & Simon (& of course the Russians). The unit wouldn't load from the disc at first but after a drive across a couple of suburbs it mysteriously shook itself into action. The disc was still in so the bumping around probably got the laser working. The result is pretty good; much easier to use now. However, what's interesting is that not all info is available after the translation. The reason I know this is that prior to the upgrade, I used to get a warning everytime it powered up that I had an airbag problem. See pic. I could drill down (from memory thru the maintenance screen) and turn up more info. See other pic. None of this shows up anymore. I was hoping to see what Nissan thought of my little problem (in English), but nevermind. So it looks like only the main information made it thru the translation process. Thanks again guys.
  25. Nice! Let me know what he says. Hopefully approx 7 people might be enough for him to make a start in the next month or two. Thanks.
