  1. I have a HKS Mushroom Pod. I don't have a lot of choice regarding the room I have - the cooler piping runs right through the place where the stock box sat. I also made sure that I have a large amount of fresh air feeding it- up from the fnt bar. I don't really understand the HKS specific pod bashing. There may have been ones that fell apart after X years. Thats really not a good thing. But they do have a 3 layer filtration foam, its not just that coarse layer you see from the outside, which wouldn't filter well at all. Same quality as a panel? Probably not, but its not as hopeless as people make out. As for temps- on the freeway / moving I've been seeing 22-25 degrees measured basically at the throttle body. My AFM is after the filter/turbo/intercooler. I'd say thats pretty acceptable, and its not sucking in hot air. However, If I had a choice, it'd be to keep the stock airbox/panel. Getting a pod for the sake of it, just not worth it.
  2. In reply Rudi, I still have no front shafts in the car atm- its RWD. I want to get it back on the dyno, so I really cbf getting it in and out just to do some drags. Plus I think that Craig and I are going on the same night for the lolz. Craig needs a tune first. He wants to stick it up the Mexicans.
  3. Insults may be hurled at will, Dale. Provided the Transient Trabant owner shows up. FB says hes travelling atm. Be great if you can make it 180fan- so much commitment.
  4. Hi Sydney Stagea owners! I know your out there! A lot of the people we have met up with over the last few SAU meets have been keen for a Stagea meet, because we haven't had one in quite a while. I am a little in two minds about this because I don't really want to turn it into a "what if we hold it on.....day" thread. So I picked a day one month away, and hopefully people will have time to shuffle things around, get shifts off or whatever (I know a few of us are shift workers.) So, the details!!!! Date: Saturday 23rd June 2012 Meet at: Silverwater Park, off Silverwater road (carpark on the western side of the bridge) I thought this is central to most of us. Who: C34, M35 owners and anyone else who wants to tag along incl Skodas What time should I get there: 4:30pm for a 5pm Departure. Destination: Newport Beach Route: http://maps.google.com.au/maps?saddr=Silverwater+Park,+Silverwater,+New+South+Wales&daddr=Church+Point,+New+South+Wales+to:Newport+Beach,+New+South+Wales&hl=en&ll=-33.735761,151.244659&spn=0.46995,0.617294&sll=-33.698065,151.216164&sspn=0.235078,0.308647&geocode=FZTd-_0dqtgACSHQ0_H5aH0BDw%3BFZud_v0d6GwECSlBhP8beFMNazFgsTIWaH0BBQ%3BFUN5_v0dqvkECSGZVHj9DU8Fiykp5J5iSVMNazG0miZKD1QaVQ&oq=church+point&t=h&mra=ls&z=11 Directions: We head north onto Silverwater road, Turn right onto Victoria Rd and Left onto Lane Cover road (I expect the traffic though here might be pretty heavy, but we'll meet up on the way to re-group). Pass through Ryde, St Ives, and continue to Terry Hills. There we will turn off and head down McCarrs Creek Rd which is a short stint through National Park. Back out to Mona Vale, and up to Newport Beach, where we will park in the Surf Club carpark (which is massive) At Newport you can get a range of take aways, chicken shop, Pizza, Fish&Chips, Thai/chinese etc etc. I figure we have an Early dinner for those with kids so they can head off early if needs be. Or let the kids play in the sand whatever... From Newport, we can head up to Palm Beach and chill out there, or if people are feeling energetic, we can make a run up the Old Pac highway to the North of Sydney. It'll be up to the mood on the night. On this cruise we will ALL be sticking to the speed limit. Remember we represent both the Club and the Model. We don't want unneeded attention from the Authorities. There will be NO DRIFTING. NO BURNOUTS NOTHING ILLEGAL! Lastly, I know your all out there, we had a great turn out to the 15th Ann. Cruise, Come and meet up. We are a friendly bunch! Last meet we had lots of M35s so this time I want to see lots of you C34 people come out. Doesn't matter if your mod'd or Stock- bring it out. Hope to see you there. Ask Questions, I'll make up Answers.
  5. Hey tayden. Don't bother with the haters. You have brought what was a right piece of shit, back to a point where your happy with it. That's the most important thing. Look, it's your first car, so I'm not suprised that you have gone for a "scene" feel to things with the sticker bomb/green rims. Thats probably what you've seen on stance, or jdmst, or whatever else you have been hanging around. So thats what you made your car. Now, I can't say I'm a huge fan of scene cars. I'm a simple kinda guy style wise. I don't think rusted panels or bike racks are "mint". Just make the car not some thing you enjoy, not something that fits in with everything everybody else is doin. If its the same thing, then that's ok too. Just make it your own. Second last thing- know when to sell it. Don't fall in love and think manual conversion, turbo conversion etc. just flog it to the next p plater, and get something someone else has put the work into. Lastly. Get rid of that beige steering wheel, ain't no chick going to give it up to you if you got a steering wheel the colour of your granddads cardigan.k?
  6. Dealers have a stat warranty on Cars under 10 years old of 3 months / 5000kms. That will cover everything on the car that goes wrong in that period as I understand it. Dealers can offer extra warranty that is offered by a 3rd party warranty company. This can be for various amount of time/kms. Generally this cover will state it will cover damage to the drivetrain upto a total of $XXXX. So an example. You buy a car and you have bought or the dealer gave you a 1 year 3rd party warranty. 6 months in, you having had the car serviced as required by the dealer, blow up the turbo. The 3rd party warranty will cover the claim up to $2000 (just say). The job will cost $3000, so you will pay the gap. Thats how I understand it works. some of the guys that have replaced turbos will be able to give you a cost.
  7. Its stuffed. Burn it with fire. But seriously, just get it done properly. I think you can use cutting compound/fine grit all you want but that is never going to look good. Point is, you will always know its there- and your eyes will go straight too it all the time. Get it done professionally, save up for a little while or whatever, and get it done properly. You'll never know it was there. Touch up paint is good for stone chips and the like not stuff like that.
  8. And a R8 V10 on the way home. White, plate Reno. Sure he got pulled into the rbt cause they wanted a better look! Love that sound.
  9. <p>HKS 60mm GTII. Plumbed into exhaust before the cat. Daily Lolvo Wagon. Impossible to see anything anywhere.
  10. I wouldn't bother mate. If you are dead serious about power, then get a different (3inch) muffler welded on the end and keep that Muffler. But I would suggest if you don't have a high flow turbo, piggyback, etc etc, I don't think the exhaust will be that big a deal. I'm only going by the Mods in your Sig. Do you really want it louder? Doesn't seem like it has any muffler to it anyway!
  11. Was a great car spotting trip to work today. First up was a New model (997?) Porsche GT2, driven by a very smart looking Asian gent wearing black driving gloves (I would too, if I had one ) Then it got hazy, but a BMW M1 coupe, thats a tough looking little nugget, a Red F430, Black Lambo Gallardo in Chatswood, some form of new model Bentley, R35 GTR "GTRJET", and finally a very clean looking FD3S in that lovely blue colour. Made the trip to work a bit nicer on a weekend.
  12. Spotted a Back M35 Axis heading towards Hornsby again today. Plate - PW.####
  13. The Dog has Giardia. Must be the most over diagnosed dog in the world- wife took a sample to path lab!
  14. I'm not saying that it would restrict to 200 exactly. I am well aware that Cars running the legalis are well up and over that. What I am saying is that any restriction will cause a loss in power, and their might be gains in looking into the exhaust for restrictions- durh, I know. And I don't have the same exhaust as you. I have a Nismo- now I don't know if there are any signifigant differneces between the two rear mufflers in either system. It could be that the nismo runs a 2.5inch reducer in the rear can, while the legalis is bigger. Who knows? Thats why I'm going to test it out.
  15. ^^^ That looks like His silencer. Be interesting if he thinks its loud with the slilencer in Looks like moar measuring / testing of my exhaust to be undertaken
  16. Did you look in the back end through to the twin tips? I don't think thats 3 inch, not that I can get in there and measure it.
  17. OP did say non-removable in the previous page. I couldn't figure out how to get it out from the pics- but I'd be looking! This is an example of what I mean. The Lovely Fujitsubo exhaust that all of us M35 owners love. Have a look at the pipe diam. 76.3 (3inch) to 60.3mm (about 2.3inch) . Wat! I guess the nismo is about the same. Am I really trying to push 200kw through 2.3inch exhaust...? 18. Its just the way that they make Jap systems, unfortunatly. A Load of GTR owners have been caught out this way- Pay big Dollars for a brand name Jap system that states 90mm diam. or whatever, only to have the system taper down within the mufflers and restrict power. Genrally this is only happening at power levels >250kw. This is what I'm going to test on my car- I think the exhaust might be holding it back. Checking is easy enough- run your car up on the dyno. Then remove mufflers / cats and run it up again. If there is a big difference, then you know there is restriction. Its always a pay off between noise and flow- it takes a good exhaust fab. to make a good flowing not offensively loud exhaust.
  19. Depends on the injectors minimum pulse width. My min pulse width is smaller with DW 600cc than the stock inj minimum, so it negates any idea that they won't cruise or idle on stoich. Don't know about the 1000/2000s. Also, I don't know how your cars tuned Mitch, but I've found that the trip computer economy goes out the window if you change injectors because you also change the K constant. E.g, my car now thinks I can do 1000kms on a tank because My k constant almost halved within the factory ECU. Its obviously not going to do 1000km on a tank any time soon!
  20. Had campylobacter from my second last meal in Malaysia. Was also the best restaurant, as in highest quality, that I ate in while there. Felt off while traveling, and when I got home had 7days of profuse toilet action, fevers, and dehydration. Would do salmonella anytime compared to campy. I ate from street stalls and whatever, but it was the restaurant that did me in. Lesson learnt. The Mrs being in pathology, is always harping on about infections etc. the best thing that we find, and the cheapest and easiest option for external infections is salty warm water. That stuff will deal with things that detol and other products won't touch. Terry, on the hand washing Dr thing, I wouldn't just tell him where to go, but buzz off completely. It's ALWAYS the patients right to have a second opinion. Too many people blindly trust doctors. I know you know, but people don't realise that there are doctors that just are there to be employed (like other professions) and there are Doctors that genuinely care for patient well being. / rant
  21. Nice. Question: with the shot of the inside of the main muffler, is that a removable restriction section in there? What is the size in there? Just trying to get my head around these jap systems.
  22. Saw a black evo 5 parked in Rosebery, yesterday. First thing I though of was this thread. Had a coolant leak. Otherwise was just a normal looking evo.
  23. C34 mate. A 260RS with a bit over 300kw from memory. Hope you get some video of the run mate.
