yup, its a known issue. I don't know the details but there are many accounts of something that goes dry solder os something that gives up in the central fascia unit. It takes out the radio and AC at the same time. Have a search, I think the V Series section has some more info on it, but basically your looking at an expensive fix, or by a secondhand unit and fit it in. Do some searching on the site, I'm sure you'll find more info.

M35 Stagea Potential Odo Tampering
PN-Mad replied to Godzilladat's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
There is more than one shop that imports Series 2 cars now, but I'd be interested to see where you got it. As Dale said, get onto the odo check, and find out what's going on. I might have been reset and could have 150k on it! However, besides the name and shame aspect of it, there is very little you can do. Your not going to get money back or anything, unfortunately it's caveat emptor. -
Fatz Gtr Reliability Testing
PN-Mad replied to fatz's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
I was only on 220 on the gps. But I exit the final corner a fair bit slower than a gtr. -
Fatz Gtr Reliability Testing

Went good down the straight too -
Hahaha. Funny story about that car, Craig has driven Winfield, but the pedals, seat and steering wheel was the only part of the car Terry gives him permission to touch! Too scared to touch anything else!
-
Yeah, I heard too. Unfortunately it doesn't look like it will see track time next year. It's a fine balance between appreciation and preservation. Hopefully Fred's boys get the other chassis on the track soon in the red white and blue

Here is the last session - featuring some pork chop in a BMW M5 that wouldn't know a racing line if it bit him on the asshole. Almost managed to drive it into the grass around T1. Also - the drivers brief was clear, if a car drives up the inside of you on the main straight (on the left) you roll off and let them pass. I guess he didn't like the fact that some late 80s Datsun was faster than his $250k dollar sports sedan. One thing, I'm impressed with the stability control in them!

Absolutely agree, I came in after the first session buzzing so hard! The cornering ability of this little car, with relatively skinny rubber continues to amaze me. It was pushing a good 1.3gs round T1, this is with No aero, not even an front undertray! It's consistently quick, which I like. The only things that monstered me was a 911 GT3, and a R35 gtr. Looking at my driving I'm very happy how it has progressed. I told Craig the other day, I was yelling at myself in the cabin; "Smooth smooth smooth!" There was a fair not of time lost in turn6 and through the final series of turns. Some thing o work on when it get back there

And here is session two, with Dave going off the outside of T1, and holding it (to give you an idea, its at about 160km/h), me having issues coming out of T2 after overtaking Fatz down the straight into T1. I have one more session to add, with a kamikaze BMW M5, and a Commodore driver that couldn't believe that he was getting overtaken by one of those little turbo cars In the mean time, the Stagea has turned into a true family car, with the birth of our first Child! He was born on Remembrance day, 11th November, and is doing well. Loves trips in the Stagea already.

So thread needs a bit of an Update!!! The track has been good to me lately, as I have got two track days, both at SMSP (Eastern Creek renamed). The First day was the SAU NSW Trackday, which was held on the "South" circuit. Its a tight technical little course, that doesn't really let powerful rwd cars wind up too much. It is part of the extension of the circuit, and the previous weekend they held the WTAC Drift comp on it. That meant shitloads of rubber down on the track leading to lots of rubber pick up issues. Anyway, I had a great time with mates out on the circuit, harassing the GTRs and Evos. Fastest time on the day was a 1:07.6, which was the second fastest rwd. Next up I did a Twilight trackday, with the Formula Company, on the GP circuit - the one most of you would be used for WTAC. There was a few of us from SAU there, 2 R33 GTRs, a R34 GT-T and a turbo'd BRZ who was a mates mate. I was pretty nervous about it tbh, because Turn one is a pretty daunting prospect. Anyway, on the track there was a big mix of cars, 911 gt3s, All kinds of V8 Commodores, Some guys from BYP were there with Turbo'd honda Civics, S2000s, BMW M5s, R35 GTR etc. For the money, it was a fantastic arvo/night. it really is a low cost way to get on the main track, and the track itself is just so much different to playing around on the tight twisty stuff like Wakefield and the south circuit. I really enjoyed it, there were a few hairy moments, but I was very satisfied with my driving and how the car performed. The third session I chucked a timer in the car, and pulled a 1:52.8, which I know doesn't sound like much with the WTAC cars, but for me it was pretty magic- defiantly moving. Top Speed on the GPS down the straight was 220km/h So here is my fastest lap:

You have a serious in-superiority complex don't you? This is like the 3rd or 4th time you still have shared the same old butthurt story. Members own all kinds of different cars. The president owns a Chaser. Yes, there are R chassis cars, there are 5 series of them and amazingly, we're on the Skylines forum. Other Members own Evos, Falcons, MX5s, Stageas, Silvias etc etc. If you have ever seen a Vid of the Texikhana that the clubs holds, then you will see the variety of different cars that turn up. We've had V35s and 36s on the pan, ripping it up and people loving it. You're not going to gel with every person you meet in life, and just because you have cars in common its not a magical thing that means that everyone will love each other. So, come along and meet some people. Thats my message to OP. Get involved, there are social events, cruises, and motorsport events for people of all kinds of abilities. Give it a go. If you don't like it, that's fine, nothing lost. But I reckon you'll have a heap of fun getting involved.

34Geeteetee Daily / Track Project
PN-Mad replied to 34GeeTeeTee's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
You'll still need to shield that silicon from the heat. Get them to bend up a bit of heat shieldy stuff, and use some of the mounting points to cover the manifold. Even if you ceramic coat it. -
I think the VAG will be the daily hack. The track part is where things start to get interesting

M35 Parts Up For Sale.....or The Hole Car
PN-Mad replied to Jetwreck's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
I'll take the Brembos. Cheers. -
Its going to be a stanced out EK Civic, isn't it...

I'm going to enjoy this next phase Thanks mate for all the work you've done in here, the turbo changes, transgo kits, suspension stuff. There is a lot of people here that have benefited from your work, and not been screwed over by clueless mechanics whose mouths are bigger than their ability.
-
Yerp. Stock standard crack. Same as other I've seen pics and in life. Lots of cars driving around with it, and not even knowing I reckon!
-
Nope that's it really. The weak point is the rods. But if you were going to do it, along with above, you'd throw in some decent head gaskets and hardware to screw it down, maybe a HR oil pump which is supposedly better for higher rpm, and flow. Then there is all the gasket kits, water pump, bearings, machining, etc. You'd need the coolant modification, and a decent rad.

The nice Autechs fetch a tidy price. And your stuck with the shitty dash, not our nice one. The cheaper ones are flogged out, I think its much better getting a S2 and converting. Even better if you have a RWD S2 car.

these guys have one on the website - manual. http://www.advancedjapautoimports.com.au/v35-skyline-manual-conversion-gearbox.html

Santa Claus by the sound of that. Your dreaming if you think a workshop is going to pay to do that for you. Two options. Weld it. The whole thing is welded together anyway. Or Buy one, second hand or new. Try 55400-AQ500. Sit down for the price.
