  1. hey guys im looking at different options for my vl with a rb25. i was thinking of getting custom made intercooler piping however if i was to get a rb25 kit and modify pieces of it what would you guys think i would have to mod or would i be better with a vl turbo kit
  2. yeah i wont need to change the dump because i will just use the sandard rb25 dump and get it made to suit my mate makes exhaust so money not really a issue and i dont know how long until i get a new turbo
  3. also i just found out that the standard front pipe from r33 will not fit vl so would a vlt front pipe do the job will it fit to the standard r33 dump
  4. i mean for standard turbo til i get the custom dump made to suit my atr43
  5. cheers mate i might just do that however i do not have a cat what size is the standard cat a mate has a 3'' inlet and outlet cat but has been bashed out that i can have or would a standard vl cat do the job?
  6. cheers thats what i was after just making sure i wasnt going to loose power with a stock turbo with the 3 inch
  7. hey guys i have a rb25det in my vl with a microtech ecu stock turbo FMIC and in near future going to use a atr43 G3 im getting a 3inch zorst done should i change my front pipe from dump to 3inch also or just from cat back?
  8. sounds good to me even if im looking at running a atr43 g3 at 18+psi this should be good?
  9. hey guys i have a turbosmart dual stage boost controller. i was wondering really is it worth having a dual stage or just a t-piece. the other question is how far away from turbo should i mount the dual stage i was thinking of mounting it on my strut tower which makes it sit about 30cm from turbo is this to close. im trying to make it look as neat as possible and im having trouble finding the right place to mount it. it is on a vl with a rb25
  10. i dont think they are coated as long as the valve is sealing properly on the seats should be fne but i see where you are coming from. i used to be a engine rebuilder and we used to touch up the edges with a special valve grinder so no they are not coated and heat sould be fine
  11. hey guys on my IAA unit on my rb25 it has a purple plug next to the brown IAA unit plug. during a engine conversion i managed to break this plug somehow and now i need a new IAA unit with the purple plug does anyone have one of these lieing around somehwre
  12. it depends i used to be an engine rebuilder. i built a rb30 with Hbeam conrods crow cam forged pistons acl race series bearing port and polish etc. for 350kw i would get forged pistons acl race series bearings and race series gasket set. prob no need for the rods but while you have it apart why not because eventually your going to want more power once you get the bug. with the cams read my recent post on whether its worth changing cams or not. should give you a good idea but the mains things i would do would be forged pistons acl race series bearings and gasket set and if you hae a little extra cash maybe get a port and polish.
  13. the thing is i still have standard inlet im only looking at running about 300kw so i think ill stick to my standard coils with the x6 once they crap themselves then ill just use my boschs and get them wired in by then i should have a forward facing plenum or something similar or ill mount them on firewall and use longer leads.
  14. ok cool how do i mount them to cam cover(rocker cover) because you cant drill into a cam cover it will crack/leak oil
  15. ok because i also have a x6 ignition module now because its in a vl im unaware whether its series one or two whats the best way to tell by looking at the engine also im if i decide to run the external coils if i mountes them on the strut tower on passenger side that would be a little to close to the turbo dont you reckon because i was going to mount them on the firewall but the longest lead looks like its not quit going to reach the furthest away cylinder
  16. id suggst yes have it because its a earth wire to stop electrical current shorting out something on the motor causing damage like above use stereo wire or some sort of automotive wire just dont go to thin no need for massive thick wire.
  17. yeah exactly im not very confident with any wiring thats why i prefer to get it done elsewhere wiring is not my expertise
  18. nothing is wired in yet so i dont really want to touch it because i wouldnt have a clue
  19. is it worth changing my cams on my r33 with the vct or should i jus leavethem alone and just get a adjustable cam gear for exhaust
  20. is anyone here running a microtech lt12s on a rb25 without the bosch coils i have the coils but im trying to decide whether to leave them out for now to keep the stock look away from the cops
  21. im asuming your in wa. i used kyp in welshpool they were great they did a compression test for me and also started it up for me. speak to ben if you go there he doesnt do it for the money he does it for the love of cars
  22. yeah i already have a microtech lt12s with hand controller loom and x6 ignition and 6 bosch coils
  23. cheers mate big help ill call them tomorrow
  24. yeah i was thinking that just i been slowly pulling all the wiring harness for the fuse box back through due to having the engine bay painted and it just seems to be becoming a bigger and bigger job than i thought and seems to be getting over what i wanted to spend on wiring and tuning. ill give you a call regarding the hks lowmount tomorrow
  25. anyone here know how to wire a microtech in to a rb25 in vl a workshop wants to charge me a fortune because i have done all the mechanical work for the rb25 in my vl but nothing has been wiring in all the rrb25 wiring loom is on the motor just not wired into the vl.
