Every time I read this thread it CRACKS me up and I am still smiling for hours afterwards!!! I don't so much get anything said to me but what I do cop is lots of attitude - Firstly cos I am an oldie and secondly cos I am a woman and thirdly becuase I own a Skyline. I am FOREVER getting wankers in Celicas, V6 Commondores et. al. wanted to have a go at me...You can see them thinking "Oh s... a Skyline! Oh s... a WOMAN! OMG she's OLD" - then I drop the clutch and go for it...... Most of the time I don't bother and that is the worst because you can sense their self-satisfaction BUT every now and then I let fly - to see the look on their faces is better than priceless!!!!!!!!!!!! For Gawd's sake a week or so back I even had a guy in a little Toyota WORK TRUCK trying to have a go at me. Puuhlease... :headspin: :headspin:

re Evo - I thought that as I had bagged out F&F so much that I didn't need to get started on Evo - LOL--- Brian Hall Autos in Philip often have Skylines if you want another dealership to look at - that being said although the cars are in EXCELLENT condition they are VERY stock and expensive - Yeah - try the Trading Post - that is where I found mine...... Seen a few threads around on car prices lately.... Skylines in Canberra seem to be a bit more expensive than other cities??? It's not like there aren't any around either.. MMmm

Yep the 'group' of pink cars - including the Skyline - live not too far away from me. They were cruising around Braddon Wed and Thurs nights of the Nats too and are often seen at formals.... Interesting to note that a dark blue Skyline has now appeared at the house concerned and all of us around here are wondering how long it will take before it becomes pink as well....

Mmmm - Fast and furious Canberra - MMMMMmmmmm I am an oldie - bought a R33GTST couple of months ago privately here in Canberra - no probs at all. If you do go private - get a REVS check done - make SURE absolutely DOUBLY sure that you get it rego inspected somewhere BEFORE you buy it, that way you will know EXACTLY what you are up for. The pits at Dickson and most inspection places HATE Jap imports with a passion at the moment - very picky about windscreen tinting, exhausts and rims/ tyres, and thats just to start. (There are a few places in Canberra that aren't too ferocious but they are hard to find) (check out Canberra forum for ideas on where to take it). (Jaysus if the pits see a 17yo driving in a skyline they will get eyes about 4 foot wide and greet you with "Right - out of the car," and then the fine tooth comb will come out. So get the buyer to get it checked. (A buyer won't let you take it away to get it checked anyway) Yep - Fast and Furious and EVO will both rape you as far as prices go - With the former - get someone who knows about Skylines to look at anything from F&F with a MICROSCOPE. When I was looking out there I looked closely at about 10 cars and EVERY one of them appeared accident damaged in some way esp at front - indications of re-spray etc etc. Ha - the other interesting thing about my visit there was that, as I said before I am an oldie, and my partner and I were dressed really smartly on the day concerned and it was pretty b..... obvious we were keenly interested in buying SOMETHING cos we looked at every car there from sideways, frontways, interior peeking etc - and no-one came out to see if we needed help etc etc..... There was a R33 in Saturdays Can Times for $18K - I don't know anything about the car, I just spotted the ad. Otherwise there is a good 'local' car forum as well as the ACT forum on this site that you can snoop around on and ask whats happening. So - yeah be aware of price private vs. dealer and also rego in Canberra (as you prob know ANYTHING over six years of age that changes hands here in Canberra HAS to be inspected). Same goes if car is from interstate and you want to change it to ACT rego. Then I ?think a vehicle identity check is mandatory and it HAS to be taken over the pits. Good luck - and as you can prob see from this site Skylines are the BEST... I bought my first car in the early 70s and it twas a Morris 1300 automatic and I thought it (and I) walked on water!!!

My later than mid-life ended with a R33 93 GTST that I bought a couple of months ago------about $20K - my teenage kids reckon I am going through my second childhood, to which I reply "Yup - and s... I am having fun doin it" - noticed a black R33 GTST (don't know what year) for sale in paper today for $18K

Hi A friend needs a Skyline for her wedding - Feb 28, here in Canberra Must be a 4 door (which is why I can't help her) as it will be used by the bridesmaids... Yep - Macs Reef Rd, - through to Bungendore then Qbyn---as you are coming down Fed Hwy from Goulburn the turn left into Macs Reef is about ?5 kms before border. If you go past Caltex and Eaglehawk then you have gone too far.... Not sure whether forums are being monitored though so advise to still take it easy Also coming in at night might be easier than during daylight Haven't heard anything yet on what Barton Highway is like

bloody sucks - it brings so much money into canberra in that few days it is mindblowing ----------------- Nats organisers were also on tele tonite - talked about the ?7 I think it was fulltime people they employ and the 200 part-timers that get work not to mention all the security guards they employ----------------- Look if I hear ANYTHING I will let you know - My Skyline is modded and I was going to go out cruising, but am thinking of just laying real low for a few days. As it was I drove home REAL careful this afternoon.....

Yep - one lane closed down - cops are waiting like a RBT unit and just flagging down for inspection every single car they want to ---------- trying to think of another way in for ya all but don't think there is----------------- oh and the thanks canberra 'boys' should read thanks canberra 'people', as the 'ette' implies I am a female! :-)

Defect notices will be handed out like nibblies over the next few days - Also at least 5 -10 cop cars now cruising up and down Barton highway - If I hear any more I will let you know

Hi - yep - see my Post over in General A friend who works just over the border at Eaglehawk contacted me earlier after they got back into Canberra. Said that they had never seen so many police cars in one spot - about 30- 40 --- XR8s, SSs, marked and unmarked pursuit cars- One lane of Fed Highway closed down just at border - speed limit goes from 110/80/60/40 within secs cops absol everywhere---------- Also about 5-10 cars cruising Barton Highway as well

Ok - its now getting serious. A friend works out at Eaglehawk - just beyond ACT border into NS. He just contacted me. Says there is now anything between 30 to 40 cop cars out at border (just inside ACT) Cars are getting stopped and inspected all over the place------------------ BAs, SSs, unmarked and marked pursuit cars :goddam: One lane was/is closed down speed limit goes from 110/80/60/40 - within seconds - If you speed and try and get away - there is NOWHERE to go Stay safe people --------------------------
