  4. interesting. this deal is through a major performance workshop and they reckon compression will be fine. is it those valve spots on the top of the piston that muck around with compression if i were to put them in my 33 engine?
  5. I can buy a set of neo pistons and rods for 300 bucks. im guessing i can't use the pistons in my 33 block? Would the compression be stuffed? Or would this work? Cheers.
  6. What commodore??? VL with RB30? VN with ecotec? VZ with alloytec? VE sv6 with 195kw? Or a VK with 202?
  7. The moment anyone ever buys a skyline you must change the oil. (unless for a very good reason you are perfectly sure its been done adequately). Check what ecu your car is running because if its running a Japanese tuned ecu it may be tuned for higher octane race fuel and be the reason you get shocking economy. also get the 02 sensor and the afm checked out for this problem. but yeah get the whole car checked by a qualified mechanic! That car needs love right now!

  12. will fair enough if you add low. But then if you add a good looking front bar you won't be able to drive over anything.. Difficult enough with supermarket front bar on stock ride height. But im guessing you love the stock look.
  13. An old computer technician told me what he used to do in Melbourne to stop theft. Only if your car is auto. Using the wire that prevents you to start your car in reverse. set a key activated switch up to it in series to all other gears. So you turn the key when you leave your car and take the key with you. Obviously hide it in a good hiding place. And yeah car won't start. Nifty old trick.

  21. yep but remember, it may be an engine swap and not a turbo conversion. that may well be a standard turbo motor with standard turbo. EDIT: also looking at that previous photo of your turbo i would say regardless of conversion or swap, it is a standard 25 turbo.
  22. a strange occurence i saw in the opposite direction was a series 1.5 96 model GTS25T 4 door. ER33 plate with RB25DET engine printed on it. full turbo everything but ER instead of ECR. strange ....
  23. as has already been stated. get onto the nissan FAST thread in the general section and get someone to put your vin through the software on the turbo side of the block down the back at the bottom there is a little flat bit with the engine number on it. battery comes in the boot from factory in R33 IT WAS NOT FACTORY TURBO:RB25DE TELLS YOU THIS. D=dual overhead cam E=electronic fuel injection T=factory installed turbocharger if your blue engine plate doesnt have a T on the end of its DE then it came from factory as an R33 GTS25 NON-TURBO.
  24. you can check the engine block number from above- may need to scratch it with sandpaper to view it. cant have been a GTS4 unless its all wheel drive. EDIT: oh and stop thinking it may or may not have been a GTS25T because it sure as hell wasnt to begin with. RB25DE clearly states this fact. the "T" in DET denotes factory installed turbocharger. my current 33 (95 model) before i took the engine out had worn clamps and the rubber fitting was very worn. so its safe to say that those clamps could have just been from wear and tear. but you never know. im not saying it couldnt be turboed. anything could have happened im going to put my bet down as it being swapped over in japan. but we shall see.
