  1. I tried to save money as well and use the VN coils. Was to date the biggest headache I have had with the car (RB20). Not exaggerating, I melted at least 8 sets and the problem was still not found. Not to mention other little things like cross tracking, the longer leads having less power etc. In the end we decided to give one set of AU coils a chance before rewiring and going to the splitfires. They have not missed a beat yet but in hindsight I wish I had got the splitfires.
  2. Well after seeing this thread I would not like to know how many PMs he gets on a daily basis. And I dare say he answers every single one of them, no matter how simple the question/answer may be. I have PM'd him many times in relation to choosing my Autronic, to coil pack issues to simply asking if a $50 plastic Bosch BOV is any good. I have always got replies promptly and when not promptly an apology was given lol. And as mentioned he always tries his best to explain things in laymans terms, and if you didnt get it he will explain it again....and again.... never with any frustration. Regarding the thread starters querie I have never given him a cent but have received thousands of dollars worth of information and saved a lot of money from workshop bills as well. Jayson.......
  3. If the gearbox is available seperate what price?
  4. I remember that story kruger and I think it was a focus. The spare was situated under the boot floor and was wide enough and deep enough for a normal spare but they chose a space saver. They also did a braking test with it on which was obviously a longer distance. There was also mention that in some small cars the spare tyre well was part of the crumple zone or something? someonestolecc: Can you tell me why the space saver on the rear of a mech diff would cause damage? I would never had thought twice about it untill you have mentioned it and now I am curious.
  5. If they fit in the space you have the factory GTR bovs would be a good choice.
  6. Nobody can give you an answer as to how much the life span will reduce. It might even last longer than an equivalent car without the anti lag. Too many variables to say running the AL will reduce its life by xx%. I assume you have also thought about the other side effects of running the anit lag? As in greatly increased heat in the exhaust manifold and entire system which could lead to premature cracking of the manifold especially if it wasnt great to begin with. Do you have a CAT? Underbonnet temps will also rise dramatically. Which could lead to premature wear of anything too close to the manifold. The exhaust valves will also take a decent beating. Heat management needs to be very carefully planned when using this type of system if you dont want the car to burn to the ground.
  7. Great idea, looks good. I dont have a creative bone in my body so could you please explain how you did the reverse moulds?
  8. Dynomotive in Bayswater VIC have had a lot of success with turbocharging the LS1. They were the first to run a nine with A ls1 in oz so I dare say they have some research up there belt. They also had a LOT to do with the APS twin kit available. In regards to not having to use a name brand part I have seen a few turbocharged LS1s come out there shop with the generic Bosch type BOV(s) and not have troubles. I have an RB20det with 280+rwkw and I use a $40 bosch BOV without serious issue. Remember that a lot of BOV leaking issues is because they are plumbed in on the hot side of a restrictive cooler.
  9. Mate has gone no expense spared on a holden/isuzu rodeo V6 which had a factory V6 open deck block. It was fine untill over 400rwkw where it started to make the headgaskets move around. The builder put it down to the open deck design saying the tops of the cylinders were possibly moving about with the power level. They had a piece of ally machined up to slip into the open deck to close it up if that makes sense. It worked because power has now increased 30% and no headgasket dramas anymore.
  10. I would have to agree that the wolf site hasnt been updated for a very very long time. I heard last year about data logging for wolf and searched there site last week and found nothing. Emailed Steve and received a beta test version same day. They really ought to update the thing. There magazine ads do show the GTR etc plug ins though.
  11. Just get the calipers machined down a bit and it will be a lot better than spacers. After there machined get them powdercoated/painted whatever and it doesnt look bad at all.

    Clubbing

Ok Im too old it seems as I havent been to a nightclub in about 8 years but i need to ask this question: WTF is a cookie monster?
  13. From what I gather you have nfi what has been done to the cars ecu, if anything. Spending a couple hours wages on a dyno analysis will help a lot more than pulling the neg terminal off overnight.
  14. Is there a dyno for drunkest member? LMAO Maccas staff cant count to 21 so best you'll get is an extra toy in your happy meal.
  15. I also had a little trouble when I borrowed money to buy my car. I was able to get the finance through the sharks at a million percent interest with all sorts of penalties for paying it back earlier but wasnty able to get a decent rate loan from a bank. I'd been at my job for over 3 years and knew I was liked by management as I was quickly promoted up the ranks so I thought why not ask my employer for a loan. I was first greeted with a laugh but when he realised I was serious he told me to put my proposal in writing and give it to him. So I put down I wanted $20k with which I will pay back in monthly installments that have a minimum amount but can be higher. I said I was prepared to pay back the $20k plus 5% interest on top. For security I said it will stay fully insured and will remain registered to the company untill I payed it off. He pissed himself laughing again and gave me the money.lol.
  16. Great thread Ash and great to see the mature responces. I work in the transport industry and have to sometimes drive trucks. So I will add to please be careful around them. Not including the lack of visibility its hard enough to emergency stop a fully laden truck in the dry let alone on a slippery road. I know people just want to get in front of us but idiots fly around on the passenger side where we cant see, get in front, and the lights change all of a sudden and they pull up hard with 60 tonnes of metal screeching behind them to try and stop earlier. A truck, even at 10km/h will cause devastating damage to a car. Aint no ABS nor disk brakes on 95% of heavy vehicles. Anyways happy and safe driving.
  17. Great result. Yet another RB20 over 280rwkw!!!!! What rpm is the 22psi reached? Interesting curve. As mentioned its doubtful the plenum is the culprit, the Group A GTSRs ran with the standard plenum although its likely they had a bit of a porting throughout, or not? What are the total exhaust mods? Maybe try a power run with it dropped just to rule it out?
  18. RACV knows what about skylines again? I must of missed it but what was the compression and leak down test results of the ENGINE again? The a/f ratio was what on the dyno? Forget RACV, get it checked out by someone who actually knows skylines.
  19. Do you plan on running down the quarter anytime soon? Did you look at your new graph compared to your old with T3/T4? They are pretty much identical including the shape of curve which amazed me. Both your posted results are non shootout mode which is all I can suggest as to why you havent made "dyno" power as expected. You made 190 with a T3/T4 which although there are a million variables the mean average for even the worst dogs of versions is a lot more than 190 when using 22psi. My dyno figure is over 280rwkw with a version of a t3/t4 with 22psi. So to match the responce with a larger turbo says a lot to me as I have always had my eyes open for a more modern turbo than my 1987 piece of junk but honestly havent seen anything that could possibly match the power of my current one but have an earlier boost threshold. Even Roys trust unit, there is nothing I have seen in ballbearing that buries it in the darkages like is assumed. I will have a keen eye as to your outcomes grim. Well done for going out on a limb.
  20. No pretty pink anodising either.
  21. Forgot where I read it but someone once said re regs that if they are anodised in pretty colours then its best to stay away. Sard is not anodised. The main problem was consistency in holding the desired pressure mentioning that factory regs are hard to beat.
  22. As alluded to how far was the tow? $320 is a little steep if it was in metro to metro. Pretty sure you could have called RACV or similar up and joined on the spot and they would have came to you and removed the wheel for you for a lot less than $320.00
  23. I'd hazard a guess the two dyno sheets in this thread so far are a lot more closer than the 40rwkw difference it looks at face value. The 230 sheet was NOT in shootut mode and done in January which is summer so if it was a hot day it would of read higher in shootout mode. The 270 was in shootout mode but with an inlet temp of 53 so had it not been in shootout it would of read lower.
  24. White smoke? Is the smoke lingering around or dissapearing more like steam?
  25. You said the tuner is leaning towards the exhaust as the restriction. But you then say dropping the exhaust wont tell you anything. Huh?
