  1. I've heard many many people say that the police cant look under your bonnet. Whether its true or not I have no idea. Talking yourself up on a forum is one thing but lets say it was true how many people honestly would look at the cop in the eye and say "No". I'd rather run the gauntlet and say " no problems mate" and hope they either dont pick up on things or let them slide than stand your ground. If you did then you'll 100% be getting an EPA notice issued along with every other thing he slaps on you at the time.
  2. Yep, seen many a car running a plumb back BOV in an atmo way. At idle its open and sucking in unfiltered air. Even seen people have mini air filters on them. The design principle between a plumb back and atmo are identical so the only difference would be the atmo BOV's running harder springs that cant be pulled up under vacuum.

    Tow Help

Cheapest option is rent a trailer from a servo and hook it up to said falcon.
  4. It popped the gearbox making the 1900hp as well 3/4 through the run.
  5. Not sure it disappeared at all. Did the rounds last year at the autosalon events. Punched 560rwkw in Melbourne I think.
  6. Was in a reputable workshop in Yarraville Vic this week that deals mostly with "race brakes" and I saw a 550 marenello up on a hoist sporting a brand new set of coilovers. Pedders coilovers to be precise. The owner had binned something much more exotic for the pedders gear. Either he knows something we dont or he has lost his marbles.
  7. Does anyone live over 4kms from there exchange with 2+? I do and sync at 4,000....yep 4,000. TPG said its normal speed for that distance? Fastest I have ever seen a file come down is 180kb/s.
  8. Yeah I'm with TPG and during there off peak times when you want to download things the speed mysteriously vanishes. I can honestly say I have been with them for around 4-5 years I think and I have only had to call customer service about 3-4 times max as it just works. Very slowly at times but it works. But if you do have to call customer service be prepared for a nightmare. They cant speak english very well and also seem to struggle to read english from there cheat sheets there reading from.
  9. Not sure about the GTR's but the gibson R31 GTSR's ran a dual port actuator. I asked the owner of one at phillip island why it was like that and all I got was "better boost control". I didnt want to look like a dick and sticky beak all over the thing so I didnt see where either hose was going. Edit~~ Found this from a google search. A dual port wastegate adds a second port on the opposite side of the actuator. Air pressure allowed to enter this second port aids the spring to push harder in the direction of closing the wastegate. This is exactly the opposite of the first port. The ability to help the wastegate remain closed as boost pressure builds can be increased. This also adds further complexity to boost control, requiring more control ports on the solenoid or possibly a complete second boost control system with its own separate solenoid. Use of the second port is not necessary. Secondary ports, unlike primary ports, cannot be simply attached to a boost control line and require electronic control to be useful. C02 can also be used to apply pressure to the second port, in order to control boost on a much finer level.
  10. same here. Saved 17c off the listed price.
  11. unlike the other rbs the 20 has a bore of 78mm. The others have 86mm. Herein lies the problem.
  12. Fit a catch can, a temp home made one or an ebay special that doesn't vent back to intake and it will tell you one way or the other if its turbos or not. If the oil stops coming out the BOV's and the can fills up then its coming out the breathers. Vice-versa and its the turbos. I also noticed my catch an would fill up when driving hard. With the rb's issue with oil pooling in the head and the cam covers sitting on an angle, every time you corner hard around a right hander it must just spew it out very quickly.
  13. I know this isn't a skyline but would like some input from those familiar with rules and regs for the different classes of drag racing on what the car should be aimed at. Car in question is a late 90's Holden Rodeo single cab ute. Engine is the factory 6VD1 which is a 3.2L OHC V6 which has been extremely modified with custom billet crank, rods, pistons etc etc etc. Basically a full house engine and fuel system. Car used to run a turbonetics Super T and made around 600rwkw. Its now been rebuilt stronger again and a Thumper has been bolted on. Plan is to run methanol or maybe even E85 and should make very close to 1000rwkw in dyno queen mode on the gas. It runs a dry ice cooler setup, and the radiator is remote mounted to the rear of the car. It has a roll cage, stripped interior except for dash and a fixed seat. Rear end has had a nine inch installed along with ditching the leaf springs for coilovers and a four link. Front end suspension is still the factory torsion bar setup. Front brakes are upgraded along with rear. It still has all factory panels and glass. And currently has 10.5 inch slicks but I dont recall height but this can be easily changed to suit class. All factory lights still work but wipers I think are gone along with pollution gear. Transmission is a tremec TKO that has lasted so far but a lenco has been purchased in anticipation of the tremec letting go with new setup. Car in all honesty has just been a snowball with no real target in sight for what it was built to do. Started off with a small supercharger and just went from there. Its pretty much just been a dyno queen. The owner has grown old of the dyno crap ( although he will try and crack the 1000rwkw when its built ) and wants to race. He wants to do some salt lake trials but is more focused on drag racing it now and in the sport compact series if possible. We went through the sport compact site and the different classes and he both left with sore heads and a state of confusion. Sorry for the long post but I wanted to get as much info in as I could remember so people that had a clue in this sort of thing could give an educated answer. With the above specs what would be the closest class the car would fit into? Being modest it should run sub 10 seconds. But with some setup and driver experience the plan is a bit faster. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  14. Edition 136 was the last Zoom branded mag from what I understand with the 2JZ rolla on the cover. Not sure if they will start issue numbers again from 1?
  15. Your car suprised the shit out of me Ash. It was so quiet when it ramped up I thought something may have been wrong but then it flashed up over 280rwkw, very impressive. What size pipes you end up running? 3.25? Oh, and a volunteer on the night had there gps stolen out his car. Theres always one.......
  16. I run the same turbo Nismoid used to run...a TO4e compressor housing with a TO3 .63 exhaust. I run it on an RB20 and it makes ok power (260rwkw+ @ 22psi). But it is at the end of the day a dinosaur of a turbocharger. It makes a good top end number but has potential for more but cant get there as the exhaust side chokes it up. Also, on the 20 at least finding a compromise with the boost control is also a nightmare. It can have all the boost in by 4,000rpm in 4th gear and drive like a rocket with wide open throttle but anything under WOT and above 60% results in surge city. Alternatively, boost curves can be mapped to come on less aggressively and not see surge but the side effect then is full boost up near 5,000rpm. Makes a nice whistle and a nice number but thats about it.
  17. Well done mate! Was only talking with a mate a month or so ago about who the new editor would be. I have mates who buy me a zoom subscription for chrissy and birthdays and from memory I have 56 issues remaining so I really hope the mag takes a new and refreshed direction. I dont like the idea of name change though. But less of the rotors - wsid wrap up - melbourne drag wrap up - cyborg drag - current project racer rotor drag etc. drag drag drag. I like drag racing but it seems its the main focus of the mag lately. I personally couldnt give a rats about drift but I would be happy to see the next project car setup for drift - or salt lake speed trials, anything but drag. A car built up to compete at superlap on a budget would be awesome.
  18. As mentioned by others your uncle aint that stupid it seems. Hes smart enough to get his shit together to purchase the car so I assume hes smart enough to know you wont be insured for it...and if you could the cost would be crazy and rightly so. How much is your uncle paying for insurance? If my memory serves me correctly about ~10 years ago maybe more when Mark Phillopousis was a young tennis star he made headlines for having a $20k plus insurance tag on a ferrari.
  19. Not sure in other models but in the HR31 the smaller filter has to be used if running an oil cooler sandwich plate or it fouls on the guard.
  20. From what I understand it pretty much all comes out of MOBIL Yarraville? I'm in the transport industry ( not fuel ) and always will chat to a tanker driver when filling up the truck and they all say its the same shit coming out of Yarraville. Last one I spoke to did say that Shell tries to use there own as much as possible as they have there own tank in Yarraville thats fed from a pipeline from the Geelong refinery but if its empty then it will be someone elses fuel going in. For all the westies on here, next time your going over the bridge take a look down to the left in Mobil where the tankers park and notice the different brands all parked in the same place. Then notice the huge tanker painted up as BP ULTIMATE in the middle of Mobils property. (same tanker was painted up as optimax couple years back)
  21. Keep me in mind guys if numbers are short. Like I said I am hopeless but from the post game report so is everyone lol. I am 30 years old, 6ft flat and havent played since highschool. But I did win 3 premierships as a whinger and lost one with the ecxuse that the other team was too old lol....
  22. Already got a GTSR so they can stay. The 35 is just a car available to joe blow from the Nissan dealer so I'd def take the piece of history with the 32. WHen can I pick it up?
  23. If shit hits the fan and people pull out at last minute give me a pm. Havent played for 10 years but man can I complain to the umpire. Cant drive, cant shoot, cant dribble, cant rebound but can catch and pass the ball like a freak. I'm pretty much the guy that sprints up and down the court and never gets the ball but sweats the most and is always injured ( yeah, you know the type.) Also have a mate who I think actually plays at that stadium who would also fill in. A big samoan who will belly splash everyone out the key...
  24. Break?? We are meant to stop working?? Damn transport industry...busiest time of year..
  25. I have been to Ben myself for an alarm and full audio install. Very above board person and was happy to help out. The alarm actually had a few glitches and when I called him up he was honestly embarassed about it and insisted I got it back down to him asap. He fixed it all up and everythings been going along fine since. He even got me the audio gear at cost which was a bonus. Like Ash mentioned, check Vic members for full details.
