  1. Pretty sure they are two completely different things mate. How having only the front brakes engaged helps launch is beyond me as one foot is on the clutch and the other on the loud pedal. Launch control units cut fuel and/or spark to let you choose a desired launch rpm and be able to hold the throttle down flat with the revs not climbing above the set level.
  2. Great point about the "enemy" rezz. And I also dont think its the last of the drifting utes either. I beleive a particular twin turbo LS1 ute will be hitting the drift tracks as well. There is also a 400rwkw plus s/charged rodeo ute that will no doubt be testing the water as well.
  3. Is it possible to reinforce it? I have a fairly heavy clutch and it mangled the pedal bracket which was made of pretty much tin with a spot weld here and there. Another one was sourced and it was heavily reinforced with some extra steel plate and a decent weld job and its been fine so far in the 2,000ks its travelled.
  4. I didnt do it personally as it was like that when I bought the car but both my cam covers are anodised blue and it looks great. I beleive its not an expensive thing to get done either.
  5. Wouldnt some utes, like the Holden rodeo which have full sold chassis be easier to drift than some Jap cars?
  6. Damn.... 3 years. "cringes"
  7. I've read the other thread and it looks very interesting. Looking into if it will suit my application but just to clarify, for boost control I will need: Boost controller + Hand controller + cable. Is that correct?
  8. pics of BOV and dimentions if can as I have a tight squeeze where the current one is fitted. info(at)allvic.com.au ( please state BOV in subject )
  9. I have tried that many times with the work trucks filling 2 or 3 at once with each truck having 3 tanks each with approx 180L capacity so the bowser ends up pumping out about 1200-1500L with a potential $50-$60 rebate. ( the drivers toss a coin for the flybuys, lol) But in VIC anyway, the dockets are limited to 150 litres from memory and most attendants wont let it happen. On average, we get away with it evry 3rd or 4th time.
  10. Not sure if its been posted already or if people have received it in there e-mails but anyways, I got it this morning and thought it was amusing. Ferraris entire pit crew fired. The Ferrari Formula 1 Team fired their entire pit crew yesterday. The announcement followed Ferrari's decision to take advantage of the Australian Government's Youth Opportunity scheme and employ people from Dandenong. The decision to hire them was brought on by a recent documentary on how unemployed youths from the Dandenong area were able to remove a set of wheels in less than 6 seconds without proper equipment, whereas Ferrari's existing crew can only do it in 8 seconds with millions of euros worth of high-tech equipment. John Howard went on record as saying this was a bold move by the Ferrari management, which demonstrated the international recognition of Australia's employment practices under his Liberal government. As most races are won and lost in the pits, Ferrari now have an advantage over every team. However, Ferrari may have got more than they bargained for......At the crew's first practice session, the Dandenong pit crew successfully changed the tyres in under 6 seconds, and then within 12 seconds they had re-sprayed, re-badged, and sold the vehicle to the McLaren team for a slab of VB, a kilogram of speed and some photos of Montoya's girlfriend in the shower.
  11. Well done on the power with the cat gone. I will be definately looking into that. By the sounds of it, with it coming on song at 4,000rpm it should look at lot similar to mine. I will be very interested to see the torque comparison as well because if you remember mine is possibly had a capacity increase so cant wait to see the graph. Are you still using the AVCR and are you happy with it? I ask because my boost is controlled by the Autronic and it has a devastating spike to 17psi before it comes back down to 12psi. I wanted to run 15-17psi but not if its gonna spike to 20-22psi first so I'm researching boost controllers at the moment. It could also be BOV related as its only got a bosch one on at present.
  12. 30% is probably about right for standard and mildly modified vehicles but this trend does not stay true for highly modified big HP engines. e.g a GTR with 650rwkw. 650 + 30%= 845. I would say it would not have 845kw at Flywheel. Because that would be close enough to 200kw that has turned into heat. It would get pretty damn hot sitting in the seat I reckon.
  13. I might be coming up to PI if I dont have have to leave my car in the workshop tomorrow and I can con a day off work. Having some dramas with something electrical I beleive as when its been running for a while and heats up, it struggles to idle and loading the electrical system such as sending the power windows up will stall it. Hopefully nothiong major and I can drive it away same day. Regarding calder, I am yet to do a pass. Before the fuel and ecu upgrades it would cut the fun with any decent power so I didnt bother. Just sorting a few niggling gremlins and then I will run it. Not expecting anything flash for the ET as the R31 IRS is shocking and destroys a decent 60 footer but hope to see 110mph.
  14. Glad to hear its done Roy. Good luck at PI. Waiting eagerly to see the chart to compare to mine. What rpm range did you calculate your average from? Also, if it made max power in the 6K range why did they keep pulling it to 7.5-.6k? Was this on your request? I ask because mine made max at about 6,000 on the dot (225) and the run stops at 6,600rpm where it tapered down to about 220. They set the ecus shift light at 6,500rpm and the rev limiter is 7,000rpm. Can I ask why you would pull it over 7,500rpm? Even though I know mine makes its max at 6K I constantly hit the limiter as it "feels" like its still pulling very hard and I dont need to shift. Is the limiter a bit conservative maybe or would I be just causing undue stress and damage increasing it a few hundred rpm?
  15. Who is the driver of the capa ute? Was it Robbie Bolger? The guy who pilots the Donut King rocket van?
  16. I hate reading stories like this. Hindsight is a wonderful thing isnt it? Dont just assume it was the mate though. The owner himself could of done the damage having "one last drive" before giving to it to you.
  17. Beat me to it. I was going to say to give the voucher to him also. Otherwise you could get him some service items. Oil,filter, plugs. diff and box oil. brake/clutch/steer fluids etc etc.
  18. From what I understood there is no import duty from US as we have a free trade agreement with them.
  19. Kel= Oxana Fedorova?
  20. I have searched but couldnt find the relevant info. As opposed to purchasing splitfire etc coil packs can, and has anybody used standard coil packs from a different car? I see in the mags people using say VN coil packs. Is it because they generate more spark or another reason? My friend has a s/charged rodeo with over 400rwkw and 25+psi and the entire ignition system is factory. My RB20det has 225rwkw and plug gaps are 0.6mm as it will misfire with a larger gap. Can any coil packs be used or only a specific type? I need to upgrade my ignition system and just want to know what all my options are.
  21. Do they send any proofs to you first?
  22. You could also keep it for a while untill you have sorted manual driving with a more user friendly clutch and then get along to a cruise in your state and get somebody to let you have a spin around a car park with a twin plate and decide if its for you or not. Another side effect of some twin plates if they dont have dampers (does the OS?) is the loud rattle they make when the pedal is depressed. I have a twin and I cant stand the rattling.
  23. I had the same problem in my daily driver ( aus R31 ) about 3 months ago although I wasnt caining it. Just driving along and all of a sudden the pedal went to the floor. Stuck my foot under it and popped it back up. Never had a problem and it hasnt happened since.
  24. ahh32 What turbo will be bolted to it?
  25. It seems as though the problem is solved so I thought I would post this up to help out anybody in the future. On advice from another forum member (from NSW I think ) I checked the pcv for the prob as I was told if it was not shutting properley it could blow boosted air into the head. I removed the hose to it and took the car out for a spirited drive to come back to find not a single drop of oil had breathed out. I repeated this test several times and same outcome everytime, no oil at all. So once again, SAU forums has saved me some money and I learnt something at the same time. Thumbs up!
