  1. Technically, it doesnt matter what you are doing behind the wheel i.e smoking, drinking, eating, reading,writing something down, putting make up on etc etc if they want to fine you they can. Forgot the exact fine but its either dangerous driving or wreckless driving or something very similar. Basically doing anything behind the wheel which could be deemed as being hazadous to yourself, other motorists or pedestrians. One of my neighbours was fined as she was putting eyeliner or some crap on while driving along the freeway, stupid bitch. A classic example is watching people driving along with a street directory on top of the steering wheel with eyes fixed on the book and upcoming street signs and not the road ahead of them.
  2. My GTS-R was also tuned by Peter Teague ( P.E.T. Racing ) and I have not had any major issues yet. And I would assume he knows the product well as he is listed as a distributor on the Autronic website.

If you think a GTR badge on a GTS-T is bad I was coming through the Tulla/calder merge the other day and saw a Nissan pulsar NA ( au delivered ) with gauges, huge cannon, GTIR rear spoiler on the roof ( no bonnet scoop ) and a friggin GTR badge! The tool had also placed GTI-R badging on the rear but not with the right badging but just generic lettering like he bought the alphabet of metal badges from bunnings or something. I was in a truck and made a huge effort to get next to him to make eye contact so I could just laugh at him. Not sure if it was his exit but he turned off at the next one soon as I laughed at him.
  4. It usually would mean the seals in the turbo are worn and yes it would mean time for a rebuild. But also, if you have the engine breather pipe connected and the pipe it joins to runs on an angle down to the turbo make sure it isnt just blow by first. A friend of mine had oil in his turbo so pulled it off and sent it away to be rebuilt, got it back fitted it and same problem, full of oil again. Took it back off sent it back again and it was given the all clear. The actual problem for the oil in the turbo was not the turbo itself but his engine was on the way out and it was spewing a shit load through the breather pipe and as it connected to a pipe that was on an angle down to the turbo it all ran down to the turbo giving the false impression the turbo was cactus.
  5. metro to metro fastway couriers will deliver it door to door for about $22.00 if the weight is 20-25kg. If it weighs less it is cheaper again. I just sent a cat back from Melb. to QLD for under $25. But again, they wont wrap it up. Just go down to your local tyre and mag shop and ask for an old box that rims come in.
  6. This chart was last month at 14psi on a dead stock R31 GTS-R with Autronic ECU. Fuel system couldnt cope and its in the shop now getting GTR injectors and a bigger fuel pump. Should see 220-240rwkw pretty easily I suspect.
  7. Isnt rotational idle used to rapidly cool down the engine after using something like anti-lag? I have Autronic in my car and after reading up on it thats what I beleived it to be. From memory it drops spark to a cylinder letting the raw fuel go through to rapidly cool down stuff like the exhaust manifold and it "rotates" which cylinder it drops the spark to every cycle. The manual said it will sound like a "lumpy V8" at idle when its engaged.

Wouldnt it make no difference how many BOVs are fitted in relation to holding boost? 1,2, 5 or 10 of them fitted I thought would not give any increase in boost holding ability. e.g If you had one of the plastic Bosch BOV and it leaked at 10psi I thought fitting another one would result in both of them leaking at 10psi? I always thought the reason for having more than one BOV was for when running higher boost levels (36psi) it gave more total cfm release as only one fitted would struggle to vent all the excess pressure/air?
  9. Thanks for the tip but I have exhausted the search feature. I more so wanted to know about RB20DET-R engines. I have found the relevant info now I need which means I need to adapt the R32 fuel rail to my car. This thread can deleted.
  10. Ok I have bought a set of GTR injectors thinking they are an easy swap into RB20DET-R ( red top ECCS ). But the mechanic called me today saying the GTR injectors are an O ring type and fit straight off the fuel rail whereas the ones I have there is a hose joining the injectors to the fuel rail. My question is have my injectors and fuel rail been changed by a previous owner or are all rb20s hose tail type and the swap over is not as easy as some lead on? thanks in advance Jayson.
  11. LMFAO Nearly fell off my chair when I saw this thread. But nonetheless when my boss is pissed with me he will say " wheres that ****in polak!" To be honest I speak very little and write nothing but I am reminded every day at work I am a polak. My Bapcia and Djzadju (sp) came from Gdansk.
  12. I had the exact same symptoms and the cause was a leak in my inlet manifold gasket so as above said I would be checking for an intercooler hose which has come off or any other inlet leak.

As well as the fact of having the cooler oil pumping through it I also read in a magazine somewhere that if you are thrashing the car just before shut down and just switch it off the turbo is still spinning for a while and its still hot yet has no oil coming through to cool and lubricate the core.
  14. I apoligise for not completely understanding, but this mod you refer to which puts more preload on the actuator spring, are you saying this will help me be able to hold my target max boost without spiking 4psi above it first?
  15. Yeah, I suffer a lot with my inlet system being coated in oil as well. My friends car is currently in a workshop getting a shite load of work done and they have plumbed his blow by system straight into the exhaust, before the cats? He tried to explain it to me but I dont think he fully understands it himself. They welded a little tube on an angle facing the exhaust flow and there is some type of valve on there that opens and a vacuum is created sucking the gas out. Somethin like that anyway. The workshop reckons its legal as the heat from the exhaust burns it up or some crap like that anyway. I doubt it is legal but I guess its a lot better than an intake system full of oil and would be a lot easier to conceal from the defect army.

  17. Joel, Turbo is standard GTS-R issue, Internal gated T04E. It has a nissan turbine flange though which is very restictive. The type where looking at the back of turbo with dump removed you cant see the wastegate as its all covered up. This is planned to be fixed with next stage of mods. In regards to not noticing the 18psi spike in the power curve, you are right, it was at 10:1 at that point, and gets leaner from then on. Not sure on the timing issue though. What approx. power will the GTR injectors support on an RB20? I know I have to upgrade mine but I want to make sure the GTR items are enough as I dont want to buy more again later. My aim is to have 220 -240rwkw. The R31 forum have booked Heathcote for the 14th of this month so I will report on what time I can produce. Unfortunately, the R31 has a very very bad IRS setup and reduces traction a hell of a lot. I have an anti-lag button for launching but its useless as well as its just a whole heap of damn wheelspin, but sounds f@cking awesome. With 185rwkw what mph should I be expecting?
  18. Finally got my car back! R31 GTS-R RB20 eccs red top. Only mods are Autronic ECU, exhaust and pod. 185rwkw. Was over 220kw but injectors and pump were begging for mercy. Looks like GTR injectors are the way to go. Boost ramps to 18psi just over 4,000 and then settles at 14psi 4800 onwards. They say an EBC will get me a more stable boost curve.

  20. Yes, please confirm gear and what rpm max power was at. Got my car back yesterday after Autronic install and it made 185rwkw @ 14psi with the original GTS-R T3/4. It made its max just over 6,000, is this normal? They said there was a shitload more in it but my fuel system is out of puff. I dont have an EBC but they said it was a good idea to get one as to hold 14psi steadily when the pedal is mashed it has to ramp up near 17psi then drop a psi or two and then it holds 14psi to redline. Is this a normal occurence and will an EBC make it able to get up to and hold 14psi without going over? I will post up the charts tonight for scrutineering!

  24. Well I have the RB74s as well and I am very happy with them compared to what was in there before ( dont know ). They work well when cold and when they heat up a bit during spirited driving. That said I have never been on a track with them so cant comment on that aspect. But if you dont like cleaning your wheels every day then stay away, they are also very very dusty as others will agree.
