  1. Any other R31s going?
  2. I have HICAS on my R31 GTS-R. It definately works at low sped as I tested with the car stationary. Parked next to a wall and chocked a thin piece of wood to just sit there between the tyre and wall. Turn the wheel and it fell down. About the 60 or 80 km/h thing I was told that the wheels turn in the opposite direction to low speeds. Mine turned the same way the fronts did when stationary but at higher speeds could not tell.
  3. Any idea on approx. kms that will be travelled?
  4. I had awesome sounding flutter on my R31 GTS-R. But if I shifted on boost and held in the clutch it would sometimes stall. I fitted a plumb back BOV and this has now stopped. I liked the flutter sound but would rather prolong turbo life no matter how little extra it might live. I also noticed it generated boost between shifts a tad faster after it was fitted obviously because the turbs had not slowed down as much as before.
  5. " copped a rush at 1 in the morning and decided to make them" Copped a rush and decided to make a pulley. Geez.. Most guys I know that cop a rush at 1 in the morning will either take the car out for a squirt or rip out the old fella and give it a beating. LOL
  6. Hi Guys, Had a new zorst fitted to my RB20. 3 inch from rear housing to muffler. Old zorst had 2 inch dump and melted cat. It now is running like a pig at low rpm >3,000rpm. When she comes on boost it breaks free from the strangle hold and flys. It misfires at idle, when the high idle warm up is done it will stall if I dont keep blipping the throttle. Some people say to have your car tuned after a new zorst ( which I am getting done anyway ) but is it possible for it to run this poorly after a zorst change? It idled perfectly before and didnt miss a beat, now if its not on boost its a bastard. Please help, I hate gremlins.
  7. When I first went to a drag meet and saw NOS equipped cars purging out under the windscreen I used to think it was just water to clean there windscreen before a run thinking they couldnt have wipers coz they would break off at high speeds. LOL
  8. So people having a high/low boost controller are only in optimum tune at one of the settings, not both? Assuming there car has been tuned of course.
  9. ok Just completed getting a major service, new brakes, fitting a bov and getting a full 3 inch exhaust system. I am now ready to have my ecu chipped and have the car tuned properley. My current way of boost control is a greddy under bonnet dial. ( still debating on changing to electronic control, but thats another thread ). My question is this: Lets say the car is tuned with the boost pressure at say 1.3 BAR and is running perfectly. If I decide to turn the boost pressure down to say 1.0 or 0.8 BAR will it still be in " tune "? As in will timing and a/f ratios still be spot on? Could it still detonate? I understand turning it up might not be recomended as detonation would be more likely but if the ceiling pressure is 1.3 BAR is anything lower going to still be spot on or will it only be at its most optimum efficiency at the pressure its tuned at?
  10. I am with factory turbo timer, My gts-R has the same picture on my factory timer except it has 1 min and 3 min written on it. Would a turbo timer still be defectable if it was factory fitted?
  11. Many people run a 50/50 methylated spirits/water mix.
  12. Dont get me wrong, I am by no means a fan of car dealers. But blx, we bought our cars to drive and keep for ourselves. To the car dealer his supra is just another product to display and sell on his big concrete showcase. His only intentions are to make money. Of course he would not want to buy it near market value because he wants to sell it at market value. If you want market value for your car you have to sell it to somebody who wants to BUY a car, not somebody who SELLS cars. As stated above, if times are tough they are the last resort.
  13. Gotta be somebody running a TO4 on a RB20.
  14. I guess anyone running a TO4 on an rb20 would also be able to give me something to compare to. Mine is a red top but pretty much the same as R32 except for I have factory nizmo stainless extractors.
  15. I have contemplated turning up the wick but I am paranoid about detonation. When I get my dump it will be getting the ecu remapped at which time I will turn up the boost when its on a dyno.
  16. I have a GTS-R with an internal wastegated TO4E. According to most peoples thoughts and what I have searched for on the net on my RB20DET-R it should not make full boost untill approx. 5,000rpm. Now it is at full boost at 3550rpm. The only mods are 3inch cat back, pod and GREDDY under bonnet boost controller ( non electronic ). It made 135kw at wheels on 0.56BAR on NIZPROS dyno. Would it sound feasible that the previous owner modified the turbo to promote earlier boost responce? And if so would this sacrifice the HP potential of the turbo had it not been touched?
  17. Hmmm Dean may have a queue for placards. I just went out to have a squiz at mine and same deal.
  18. The problem with skyline ownership is most theives want your car for parts/rebirth etc and not for joyriding. Young pricks looking for a car to joyride in will be deterred straight away buy a steering lock as its easier to walk along to the next xe falcon/ commo etc that doesnt have one. Skylines are not stolen by oppurtunists, they are targeted for theft and the sad story is if some c@nt really wants to take your car they will get it. Professional car theives are just that, proffesionals, and it dont matter what gizmo you have on your pride and joy they have a way around it. Sad but true. Ant to the commo owner who got towed away, I hear ya dude, my freind had his 200sx equipped with an alarm that engaged the brakes when activated get towed from a shopping centre in broad daylight. All he seen when he returned to the spot was 2 big skids where the tilt tray had dragged his car up. Who would suspect though, think about it. Your in a shopping centre and you see a GTR getting pulled up onto a tilt tray. Most people would think " poor buggers getting his car repossessed "
  19. I have been thinking about getting my bonnet modified with some cold air vents and have been worried about the water thing too. I want to get a vent right on top of the pod. Dont know exactly how yet but I am going to get something on the underside of the bonnet that will allow me to shut off the vent in wet weather.
  20. www.r31skylineclub.com All your answers are there.
  21. DJ984, sorry to laugh dude but thats the most entertaining post I have ever seen on any forum. I literally can see some moron hanging out their window saying "YEAH! SKYLINE! FULLY SICK BRO! YEAH!" I am pissing myself laughing just typing this. Hope ya catch the twit, it is a bit rude when people are asleep and all.
  22. I have a R31 GTS-R with a huge custom widebody. And always get " What the f@ck is that? " even by many uninformed 32/33/34 Skyline owners. Afetr telling them what it is I get " Ohh.. GTR hey they've got twin turbos yeah " Which I just say " Um yeah GTRs have twin turbos " and proceed on my way. And like most, I guess I get the common " HOWMUCHWASSIT ".
  23. I get a boost cut when car is coldish, but when she warms up it dont happen, I am only on 0.6BAR. But on a freeway it pretty much happens all the time, try to plant foot and WHACK I nearly headbutt the steering wheel.
  24. Got told the same bout imports on special days. Went to Werribee vic roads. the dude wrote down all the engine numbers and then said come inside and get ya plates, too easy. They also believed I paid 60% less than what I actually did.
