I would of thought there would be a "slight" gain in economy if tank was kept lower rather that at full as the car would be lighter.. I understand the fumes theory, but our cars have a sealed fuel system. i.e any fumes are taken to the charcoal canister and used anyways? I read somewhere about filling up in the early morning as the fuel is cold and denser, meaning more goes in but surely the pumps are temp compensated?
  3. Have a truck up in sydney covering autosalon and its leaving tomorrow night to come back home basicaly empty. I know its very late notice but anyone that needs anything brought home let me know. Jayson 0403 045 585
  4. Hi NSW SAU'ers. We (HPheaven) are up in NSW at present covering autosalon and have travelled up in a truck that was only 10% full if that. Leaving Sydney tomorrow night so if anyone had any bulky items i.e engines, bonnets etc that they needed to ship down to VIC let me know. regards Jayson 0403 045 585
  5. Sorry mate. If I had of seen this earlier I could of done it. We sent a crew up with a truck Friday night to cover autosalon sydney. The truck was 95% empty.
  6. You obviously dont have the fold down rear seat otherwise you would have crawled through there? Remove the back seat or find the rod through the hole. Is the manual release lever not working coz theres no tension? It might have popped off or previous owner disconnected it to make acessing the boot harder for theives? Try yanking the release cable with some pliers. If its been disconnected/failed at the boot end then its one of the first two options.
  7. like zebra mentioned, for wideband will it need a dynodynamics (autronic) sensor? I wouldnt ask this next question about any other ecu but considering the possible background will it have any compatibility with autronic looms? i.e If an SM4 standalone is removed will the vipec plug in? Looking to upgrade my autronic as someone bought it and havent decided what to put in its place.
  8. As an educated guess I would dare say Ray Hall may have an egg in this ecus basket. Ray Hall was the face of Richard Aubert, Aubert electronics aka AuTronic. And he is from Cairns. Over the years, if you wanted any info, tech help, spare parts etc etc you got it from Ray Hall and not Richard Aubert. No idea what happened but the autronic forum went missing which was controlled by Ray along with the domain name dramas. Find the new autronic site and Ray Halls name is nowhere. Look under QLD distributors and his name is not there either. From the face of Autronic to not getting a mention one might presume a difference of opinion happened. This new ECU is very SM4 based and the plug ins supported also resemble SM4 with the evo/wrx thing. If they have taken the good features out from the SM4 and added things they and many others thought were missing like 6 ignition outputs 32bit etc etc it should be a great ecu. Wish them and there distributors all the best.
  9. Its not that they cant make power it's the way they make power. As Nismoid said theres other turbos on the market that will make the same power as the T3/T4 but use less boost in doing so and also be more responsive. My skyline has a factory fitted T3/T4 (1987) so 20 years on you'd assume technology has stepped up a bit?
  10. $87.00 is a good price. But read the fine print as it does not cover damage to the Pantec (the box on the back). Beware of bridges and the most common is wiping out trees when pulling over along with taking out power/phone lines backing up a driveway. Look up!!
  11. If he thinks budget etc are a little pricy then mini movers are out of the question. I work for a removalist company and on a Saturday we charge $119 an hour with time starting when we leave our depot and finishing when we return. We are cheaper than mini movers.
  12. Been thinking about lpg for my daily as well. LPG has been 60.9 cents at my local servo all year. Yes, lpg uses more to go the same distance. Many people say 33% more which would make the comparative LPG cost 80 cents a litre which is still half price. In my situation I use at present $60 a week in fuel so on LPG it would be $30. A $3,000 conversion minus the $2,000 rebate, and the remaining $1,000 would be paid off in 34 weeks. If I can get a system that uses less than 33% more than petrol then it will pay itself even faster.
  13. LOL Mayuri. I get out on the trucks myself a lot and most of the time its not the case although it would seem so. On the ring road on a windy day I can be going along at 100km/h (WOT) and a car will be happily sitting behind me. The road will swing around (still dead flat) bringing the wind on from a diferent direction and I will slowly start falling down as far as 80km/h WOT. By the time the car behind gets fed up and pulls out to overtake the road has changed direction again giving me a tailwind and I get back up to 100km/h with a ranting lunatic flying past giving me the finger lmao...
  14. Well said saff cossie. I look after the sattelite tracking (minor planet,VMI) at work sometimes as well and to have any chance you would of needed to call the company straight away. Even then, if they didnt have tracking it will take a lot of recalling and pestering to maybe get something out of it. We also get a lot of pricks ringing up claiming one of our trucks hit them, flung something at them etc etc. Check the tracking and low and behold the truck was for instance in for service all day lol. Always a good feeling to have a heated conversation with a moron from a claimees insurance company and string them along for a while making them think your guilty and then asking for a fax number and sending off the sattelite report showing the truck was 100km away from the bullshit incident. On that note....Insurance.
  15. Like somebody else mentioned they dont care what you drive whilst you are paying them money. But when its claim time they sure will ask. Just like the Just Cars "unlimited mods" policy. You can have big wheels, big brakes, atmo BOV, high mount turbo, a/m ecu, bodykits, coilovers etc etc and for each extra mods they will raise your premiums. But the same policies terms and conditions will also state that a claim will be rejected if the car is not legally allowed on the road which with the above mods it isnt.
  16. Was on the road all day today unfortunately and seen a whole heap of mayhem but a couple things of note was that yellow panel shop on dandenong road on the right hand side just before you go down under the bridge towards caulfield had its roller door completly gone and was lying on top of a car in there workshop. Seen three VERY brave tradies on top of an awning on warrigal road who didnt look very happy. And lastly McDonalds in Yarraville...the golden arches stayed put along with the "c" but there was a huge "donalds" sign on the ground... Good point Paul about people being more awake when theres no lights. I travelled to Sunshine from Ashwood using warrigal and princes and went through at least 25 sets of dead lights and it was chaos but very organised chaos. Didnt see one intersection with Police in control either. Guess they had other issues today.
  17. You have changed all of these parts, adjusted the tune etc but have you checked the simple things first? i.e intercooler piping? Classic symptons of a cooler pipe coming loose, split join etc..
  18. I remember seeing on the news or a current affairs type program where some lady was pulled over and fined for brushing her hair. Like has been mentioned it can come under negligent driving, careless driving, dangerous driving etc etc. I'm sure everyone here has had the experience of leaning down fiddling with the radio and then glancing up through the windscreen again and shitting yourself and getting hard on the brakes as someone up ahead has slowed to turn or something. To anyone who smokes out there, ever flicked one out the window and realised its come straight back in? The last place you were looking was out the windscreen........
  19. Easiest way to check is to fit a catch can after cleaning your intake pipes. If pipes still fill up with oil then its definately turbo. If can fills up instead then its engine related.
  20. Got a reply from Aaron and he states that its only the gauge itself. The rest needs to be purchased seperately. Which still leaves me confused as reading that thread he says its all included?
  21. Edit.... This link shows an optional oil pressure sensor (for a different product) and harness but no boost? http://www.perfectrun.com.au/performance%2...LinkDisplay.htm Its confusing me because I messaged two different sellers, one said no idea if they are there and the other said "they should be". Perfectrun lists the product and adds " you MAY need to buy the sensors"??
  22. Pretty sure you can buy sensors seperately as I also looked at the defi link display and for each parameter you want it to display you have to purchase the sensor on its own??
  23. http://www.prospeedracing.com.au/prod576.htm Hi Guys, Does anyone have or know someone who has a defi DIN gauge? I am interested in getting one but cant find information one way or the other if they come with the sensors and harnesses included? Searching around the net at all the different people selling them nobody states they are included but also nobody states there not included? Any help appreciated. Jayson....
  24. Hi everyone, I'm a new SAU member who had the R31 GTSR at the RE dyno day. Our website www.hpheaven.com.au is covering the autosalon event at the GP. Was meant to work tomorrow but a free pass from autosalon came my way so I will be there and will come down and say hello. They also gave me oppurtunity to bring my car in but if anybody saw my battered R31 they would agree with me leaving it at home lmao. Hope to meet some new faces tomorrow. I will be the tall very skinny guy lol.
