Cel On After Radiator Replaced
ArdentEagle replied to ArdentEagle's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
After 265kms the CEL has gone off. I guess the AFM wasn't plugged in before the car was started. Thank you for all the help and advise guys Now all I have to do is figure out why the thermo fan is now not working. -

Cheers. Well I'm up to 170kms at the moment so it looks like that may not be the problem. I've had the car checked and everything is plugged in BUT the electric fan at the front of the car is not working even though the air-con is I presume this would set the CEL off too? It could be just weird timing and perhaps a blown fuse somewhere? -

Just a quick question:If the car was restarted before the AFM was plugged back in, how long does it generally take for the CEL to reset? -

Cel On After Radiator Replaced

Thanks heaps for this info mate. The air-con isn't performing as well as it did before the radiator was replaced so I'd dare say the bleed wasn't opened up. Mind you it was also 40c The stereo presets are gone but the important part was saved. All the crossover values, time alignment and eq settings for my audio system are all still there. I'm running everything active, it took me months to get the tune right! I'll attempt the reset tomorrow but I seem to have trouble with the timing of the whole procedure. -

Cheers mate. I tried to reset the ecu already by disconnecting the battery, I can't get the manual codes to work for me, I've tried numerous times... It is good to know that the CEL will disappear after a while provided there are actually no current faults. I'll check with him to see if he started before it was re-connected. -

Thanks mate. Just had a quick look and everything looks o.k....I think, but I'm not very tech savvy so I may be overlooking something. I spoke to the mechanic on the phone and he said all he unplugged was AFM connection. If I don't have any luck I'll take it back into the mechanic on Friday but I'd love to solve this mystery before then to save the hassle if possible. -
I had the radiator replaced in my my M35 yesterday. I now have the check engine light on. Any ideas as to what it could be? I've tried to manually get the fault code but no matter how many times I try it won't work for me. ( Doors closed too) I've also disconnected and reconnected the AFM plug and unplugged my battery for an hour to reset the ECU. If anyone can help it'd be much appreciated. Cheers.

M35 Stagea Replacement Radiator
ArdentEagle replied to Mattl2's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Just a quick thread bump. I've just had my top tank go on my radiator. Are there any direct swaps readily available? I need to get my car fixed fairly quickly so I was hoping to buy local here in W.A. If not, is this a straight swap? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/RADIATOR-NISSAN-SKYLINE-V35-AUTO-MANUAL-2001-2007-KOYO-BRAND-NEW-/220872242160?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item336d02f3f0#ht_1906wt_1163 -
Cheers for that. GSL contacted

Ok. I need new front rotors and pads. Reading through this thread it sounds as though the RDA rotors are pretty good. I'm looking at these of ebay: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/STAGEA-IMPORT-M-35-3-5-L-01-05-Front-Gold-Disc-Rotors-/190534795621?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c5cc24165 Anybody had experience with them? What pads to go with them? Otherwise I found these but I'm unsure about them: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NISSAN-STAGEA-import-M35-Disc-Brake-Rotor-Pad-Pack-/280732893735?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item415cfc0227 Cheers

I'm looking at getting my exhaust done next week. Is it advisable to get the suction pipe done at the same time or should I wait until I have the Fcon IS installed? As you can tell I know nothing about mechanics.
-
I think I'll take this option....just to make sure I don't F anything up. Fcon IS shouldn't be too hard though, unless I need a particular serial# Is he the best option for the exhaust too?
-
Thanks for finding this for me. I've never used this site before. I presume if I loose out on the bid my account is re-credited or am I obliged to spend the deposited $$ there?
-
Bloody great buy. I think I'll go the IS at the moment. ( bound to regret this ) as I'll end up over budget at this time because no doubt I'll want the whole hog now. I can afford 5k but not 9k - I'd spend every last cent I have otherwise. Think I'll be settling with a prompt 200awkw car rather than a 250+monster I appreciate the effort and thought you've gone to mate. I like the sound of $300-$500 Fcon IS as mentioned above.... If I can find one.
-
He did specify the VQ25DET so I hope he got all the parts right. He said that he had one harness left in stock in his shop. It looks as though I'd be better off buying the Fcon elsewhere and buying the harness from him. He was reading from something under NM35 stagea when he recommended that exhaust but I'm not exactly sure what brand it was :-/ Otherwise should I go elsewhere for the exhaust or just get him to get the legalis? Does that come as a full kit or do I still need a custom dump? So if I want to upgrade injectors and turbo at a later stage id Fcon IS will still handle it? Damn I wish I knew more about mechanics so I'm able to articulate myself better when speaking to the tuners.
-
Ok. Just spoke to another tuning house, to my knowledge the only one that does Fcon tuning in W.A. He's confident with the whole thing, he seemed to know a lot about our ecu (except he though 19 psi was way too high on stock turbo. He said 1 bar but I thought that was stock ) F-con IS inc harness $1500, $700 tune. Total $2200 Full TBE HSK twin/dual I think he said? $1300 fitted HKS boost controller $500 fitted Suction pipe and time to do throttle wire cut mod not quoted. Perhaps this is a better way to go as no one will do an emanage and I'm not confident with any other system besides Fcon at the moment? He did say that if I want larger injectors/turbo we'd need to go the Fcon pro but it gets expensive. $2500 fitted inc harness, $2000 tuning time
-
There in lies the problem for me. No one wants to touch an Emanage over here, it's like a dirty word but no one has had any real success with anything else. I don't know what to do, if I get the exhaust done I want to make full use of it and at the very least get the mods we discussed before. I'm happy with an extra 50 awkw but nothing less. He did mention something about the possibility of a cable throttle so perhaps he was planning on bypassing the ecu all together. That sounds like a hell of a lot more work than $2500 worth including the new engine management system though. I wonder if Cihan has some base maps I could purchase and get a tuner over here to start from that platform. Arrgghhh
-
For now around 190 awkw it looks like. I'll look to save more money for the next lot of major mods.
-
Good call. He seems like a reasonable bloke and I don't think it'll be a problem getting him to guarantee his work. I'll find out which Haltech and get back to you mate. 190 at least is reasonable, I think you said they're about 140 stock so it should feel a lot quicker than now.
-
No one will touch emanage over here in W.A. The tuner is very reputable and a Nissan specialist but I think mine will be the 1st VQ25DET. He has done a few VQ30DET engines. Basically he's the only tuner who's willing to take it on. He seemed very confident with the exhaust after looking at it, he wanted one larger muffler and a varex exhaust put on. Ok so we have: TBE Piggy back ECU also boost controller 19 pst Suction pipe Perhaps cooler depending on funds Should = 190awkw Important accompaning mods: Wire cut mod for throttle restriction 1mm to 2.5mm Banjo mod Anything else I've missed?
-
Perhaps get the injectors done at the same time? 200 achievable then? That would be about the limit of my budget at the moment.
-
What does the VQ25det put out stock on a dyno? I've picked my tuner and I can't afford to get everything done at once so I'm going: Full custom 3" TBE $1200 - $1500 fitted Piggy back system with full tune $2500 ( Not sure what system it is but he won't touch emanage, it'll control the boost too - 19psi ) Hoping for a 200awkw. Sounds like as long as the turbo hole is drilled from 1mm to 2.5mm, 19psi should be fairly safe. I'll also get him to do the throttle control wire cut mod ( If someone can provide a link to it so I can e-mail it to him I'd be appreciated. Anything else I've missed that needs to be done? Then after about a year it'll be: Turbo Highflow or GTX 3701 Intercooler injectors fuel pump I'll be happy with 250awkw (I think)

This Is The New Recipe Chat Thread...

My main complaint with the Evo was that in some ways its too easy to drive. Very clinical, razor sharp but a little soulless. A very fast car and I miss it heaps but I like something that can bite back a bit.
