This Is The New Recipe Chat Thread...
ArdentEagle replied to Houdini's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
I had that model Evo before my Stag. It was the most reliable car I've ever had. I loved that car, a little razor on wheels. One thing I will say is that in some ways they are too easy to drive, 70/80 degree bends at 100kph don't seem too much of a problem. I had an ecu tune, exhaust, fuel pump and a boost controller (only with another .2bar) and I was making 225awkw and 550 nm torque. Mid 12 sec 0-400 - The mods cost me about 3k, being an MR version a lot of the internals are up spec and if you so wished could really boost the hell out of them. I had a very conservative tune. -

True that. That one thing I love about my Stag. I was able to used the storage departments in the back and do a stealth install of my 4 channel and mono amplifier. -

I've been doing the same thing lately. Over here in W.A we don't get that many really nice examples so I've had my eye on this one, I love ths car!: http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?R=10959085&__sid=12BA56AF125A&__Qpb=1&Cr=0&__Ns=pCar_RankSort_Int32|1||pCar_PriceSort_Decimal|1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&keywords=&__N=1216%201246%201247%201252%201282%204294963846%204294963593%20399%20447%20904&PriceFrom=399&PriceTo=447&seot=1&tsrc=allcarhome&__Nne=15&trecs=4&silo=1011 -

ArdentEagle replied to Paramour's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Classic. Yep. I the short time I've had my car not one person has guessed its a Nissan. Pretty much all of them thought it was a Volvo. Its actually starting to shit me off a bit! -

Cheers mate. It one of my wifes/best mates favourite dishes that I make. Tell your wife to keep in mind I like things fairly acidic so depending on taste and if extra sugar is already added to the orange juice she may need to add a little bit of sweetener for balance. Demerera sugar or honey would be best imo. If its a fan forced over maybe set it to 110-120 for that amount of time with the tomatos -

Ok. I thought I'd chuck this in here because of the thread title: TUSCAN STYLE BARRAMUNDI ON SLOW ROASTED TOMATOS ( THE SAUCE IS THE KEY ) TOMATOS Pre-heat the oven to 140c Cut the top and the tail of 4 tomatos off. Drizzle tomatos with olive oil, season with sea salt and a little pepper. ( Cooking time about 1hr 20 mins ) The can be cooked on a higher heat if you're in a rush but doing it this way you'll intensify the flavour more, almost like a large semi-sundried tomato. ( If you don't like skins, blanch them in hot water briefly and peel off skins ) SAUCE In a sauce pan melt approximately 50 grams of butter. Cook butter until it starts to go a light brown colour ( Browning the butter will add a more nutty type flavour ). Add 2 cloves of garlic (finely chopped), 1 small chilli ( finely chopped - you can use a little capsicum if you don't like heat), ginger( grated about a teaspoon ) cook in the butter for about 20 seconds to release the oils then add baby capers about a tablespoon full along with some powdered star anise about 1/4 teaspoon, a large pinch worth. Add white wine 100ml, cook alcohol off. Then add 100ml of orange juice, about 50ml of teriyaki sauce ( This will be the main salt content so add more or less to taste. Reduce sauce down to about half its volume, it should start to really get a glisten/sheen to it. Probably about 15 mins cooking time. Once the sauce is ready and the tomatos are almost ready do the fish. 2 large portions of Barramundi (3-400g's ea) thick cut from a fillet and squared off, any bloodline removed. The fishmonger can do all the main filleting/pinboning. Pre-heat frying pan ( Hot ) Remove tomatos from over and turn up to 200c Pat down the skin with a paper towel and season skin side with a little salt and white pepper. Put olive oil in pan and place fish skin down ( Cook for approx 2 minutes ) Check skin, if starting to go crispy, turn fish over and put straight in the oven. Cook for about 6-7 mins. Or until the flesh starts to separate a little. Plate up Put 2 tomatos on the plate and dress with a little sauce. Place the fish directly on top, building a little tower. Dress with more sauce to taste ( I like lots ) To give the dish texture I also chuck on the plate some chopped pan roasted cashews. The flavour and texture really add something to the dish. A pinch of smoked paprika around the edge of the plate is you want to tart up the look a bit more, the flavour also marries well - Finely chopped basil will also add colour and flavour -
Evo Owner But Always Wanted A 260Rs - Few Questions

Not enough savings and I had to spend money on my house to fix up a few things..... I figured time to be sensible, also at the time I didn't realize the VQ25DET would be so damn hard to mod if i got back my power craving... Which I have...... In spades. -

5k in mods should get you a fair whack of torque for a 4 cylinder, I had 550nm at the hubs with my 8mr and 5k worth of mods anyhoo. -

Believe it or not no one over here really wants to touch an emanage. I sent off an e-mail regarding an f-con with the VQ and no response yet, I'll make a few more calls later this week....... I'd love to be able to do it myself but I'm useless with that sort of thing. Ask me to make you a 7 course degustation and I have no problems but anything to do with cars I'm useless. I just want somewhere I can drop it off and pick it up a week later with the exhaust, engine management, boost controller ect ect done but alas at this point in time with that engine it appears to be too hard - with emanage anyway so f-con may be the way to go but it appears to be a very specialist field. If it wasn't so bloody expensive I'd have the car freighted over east and then back again. Going over isn't too bad but $1100 the other way is just too much $$$ -

Classic. That was actually part of the reason we got it, the ability to fit a mattress in the back for camping. Don't get me wrong I like that Stag but the Evo was almost part of my soul. I loved that bloody car. I have about the 40km drive to work every morning and it made it a lot of fun, I think once I can find someone over here to bring the VQ to life and give me 250 + 800 at the hubs I'll be a lot happier -

Funny. I went from an Evo 8MR to an M35.... The Evo was modded with around 230awkw, I really miss it. Sure the Stag is more practical but the Evo was such a sharp tool. I enjoyed driving the Evo everyday, the Stag is much more of a lounge on wheels. When I can find someone in W.A who can tune the VQ25det I may change my tune. -
Isn't that what this is for - http://www.importmonster.com.au/view?url=http://page22.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/l78754808&thumb=http://f0.auctions.c.yimg.jp/f10batchimg.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/users/1/6/2/3/hksdirect-thumb-1309274693091949.jpg&title=HKS%20SLD%20type3%20N2%20M35%20VQ25DET

I've sent an e-mail or two off. Lets see what the replies are. A bit OT but have you done a new 0-400 run yet? I'd love to see a wheel mounted camera on the speedo too, you have a laptop mate?
-
I need to get my mods done first to make it worth while. Problem i've found is no one wants to touch e-manage over here in W.A,.....................I'm stuck as to what to do.

Am I reading this right that this will remove the speed limiter? http://www.importmonster.com.au/view?url=http://page22.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/l78754808&thumb=http://f0.auctions.c.yimg.jp/f10batchimg.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/users/1/6/2/3/hksdirect-thumb-1309274693091949.jpg&title=HKS%20SLD%20type3%20N2%20M35%20VQ25DET

Stock dynoed at 300HP but not KW. My old Evo 8MR was 225kw stock. After mods it was close to 300KW at all 4 wheels. TBE, Profec B II ( 1.65bar), Ecu, Fuel pump ect. I'd be interested to see the stock dyno of the VQ25det, I recon 206-210 would be pretty darn close.

BUMP Ok... I've been reading through this thread with interest as I've spoken to a few tuners over here in W.A and very few have had experience with the VQ25det engines. I had one guy who said a lot of the cost would be on r&d so if I can find out specifics then he can cost it up for me.......... I've been looking to do this for a while now but its probably just getting to the point where there is enough info available.... I'm getting everything done at one time and then thats it, set and forget. I'm not very mechanically minded so bear with me Budget 8-10k Wanted power 270awkw and 800nm Things I know I need: Hi flow turbo ( What core is best - I want early spool if possible) Full custom TBE Emanage ultimate ( Was told by 2 people it's not a good unit ) EBC (Best type?) HDI Intercooler Fuel Pump Injectors ( Which ones ) Anything else I've missed? Any other mods I can get them to do at the same time for more power earlier (something mentioned earler in the thread - A mod by Scotty but I didn't quite understand ) Throttle restriction removal ( Cut cable ?)
-
Bloody oath! Really lucky to have one available like that in his state...... I wish it was in W.A
-
If you were in W.A I'd sell mine and pay the difference to upgrade to yours in a heart beat. Bloody pits!! I want more power. Good luck mate, its a bloody brilliant Stag.
-
Year and a half - Shit! I'll keep that little belief in my heart that one day soon I'll pop back onto this forum on to find the thread - VQ25DET ECU FINALLY CRACKED, ROM TUNING FOR ALL
-
Bumping up the thread again... Any progress regarding ECU remapping yet?
-
To be honest, I hated the stock audio system. I am an audio snob though......... I ended up getting all of my audio equipment 2nd hand of the MEA forum. Most of it came out of an SQ comp winning car. My installer said the head unit was a real bugger to replace. He had to remove half the dash board. Thats the only bad part though, the doors are deep and the car is solid so its perfect for installing a nice system into.

New Stagea Owner - Some Q's
