  1. Thats a long time for fuel to be sitting there , mine might be 1 to 2 months without topping up with new fuel . At the moment doesn't get much driving at all due to all the rain , flooding & bad conditions of the roads . Sits in garage & looks pretty instead ! Sometimes that can be frustrating !!
  2. Hey guys , just wondering how long can 98 octane fuel , can sit in ur tank for & still be fine to use without doing any damage to the engine ? I run Caltex 98 in my R33 & is only a weekend car , so sometimes use of it isn't much & same fuel can sit in there for a while. At how many weeks or months would u let it sit , before considering draining the old fuel & refilling with fresh fuel ? Also what would be the easiest way to drain the old fuel from the tank ?
  3. Have u got DBA 4000 rotors fitted on all 4 or just the front ? What price are u looking at for the rotors ? Thanks
  4. Hey mate , do u still have standard rotors on ur R33 or have u upgraded them ?
  5. Got standard brake setup on my Gts-t , but am looking to upgrade the brake pads & brake fluid for the time being. What brands of pads & fluids are recommend which will handle street driving & a bit of light track work , but will give me strong braking power ? Will be looking to upgrade the whole brake system on the car in the future , but this will be a little further down the track . When i have a bit more cash flow !!!! I know the standard setup is 4 piston calipers on front & 2 piston on rears which the car has at the moment. Also been told that when i'm ready to upgrade setup R34 Gtr system would be a good way to go ! Any thoughts would be much appreciated
  6. O.k thanks for the advice , i'll keep it in mind when tightening them.
  7. How can i measure the torque on the screws when i'll be using a screw driver to tighten them ? Is it necessary to replace the cam cover seals , job seems like its getting bigger !!
  8. Thanks for the offer mate , but i'll stick with Just Jap & order all the parts i need in one order. Cheers
  9. Thanks for the offer mate , but live in the Lismore Nsw . Which is a couple hours south of you . Do you put any gasket glue on aswell ? Seems a pretty straight forward job
  10. Thanks for that , i'll add those to the order aswell !
  11. Yeah the rubber washes look pretty worn & starting to get slight cracks in them , so they need replacing . What was the price like for the parts & is the job doing it yourself pretty straight forward ?
  12. Just wondering where would the best place to buy Gaskets for the Rocker covers & washes for the screws which tighten down the covers ? Got a slight leak at the back of the driver side one & local mechanic mentioned replacing the gasket & washes on screws would fix the problem. Would Just Jap have them or would it be better going through my local Nissan dealer & ordering the parts ?
  13. Thanks for the help , i'll see if i can fit it in before X mas. If not will have to be in the New year . Skyline is only a weekender , so only take it out when i feel the urge to Hopefully this will shed a little more light on the situation !
  14. Yeah live at Lismore , do u know this area up this way ? Yeah could try a local dyno around here, i know there is one in Lismore & Ballina . So would just take the exhaust off where the cat bolts upto , then put it on the dyno for a run ?
  15. We end up just leaving the bolt as is . It is still bolted in just not as tightly done up as the other 3 bolts . Can't undo by hand & still firmly in the gearbox. The mechanic said the bolts were only there to hold up a guard on the gearbox & wasn't a big issue. If leak starts up again will take off the cover put a new gasket on it , with some new rubbers washers for the screws also. But all is still good so far
  16. When it was making 426 hp , the car had a couple of illegal mods on it . Like screamer pipe , Atmosphere Bov & Ram pod wasn't boxed in. I got all these mods fixed & made legal . Would this effect performance at all ? Mercury did have a little problem re tuning the car , but nothing which was major & they didn't mentioned anything to me. The only real main problem was the Ecu had to be sent back to Microtech to be cleared , cause the previous tuner put a password on it & we couldn't get it off them. So when it got cleared , they had to start a new tune from scratch . Other then that , all went apparently well & i was really happy with there work on the car. When driving the car home didn't feel any worse , then before i gave it to them , but still really haven't had the chance to really open her up ! They said final results were around the 280 - 290 rwkw. The only problems with taking the exhaust off & seeing if it runs better , is i live 2 hours south of where Mercury are situated. There is no good local tuners where i live , which are worth taking the car to. So would have to make a 2 hour trip back north to do that ! When i had the car on the hoist the other day did notice the cat & muffler were a bit worst for wear , a bit of scrapings & light dins . The cat especially , also hope there is no rags in the cooler piping , cause they did do a bit of pipe work from the bottom of the turbo which go's to the FMIC. What would u suggest i do about this problem i have ? Take it to a local mechanic for a quick look or exhaust place .
  17. Here is a older one which the previous owner gave me when i bought the car .
  18. Low Boost 15psi - 250rwkw High Boost 20psi - 280rwkw
  19. Low Boost 15psi - 250rwkw High Boost 20psi - 280rwkw ( i reckon )
  20. The problem after all wasn't the gearbox leaking oil , so u were right on that one ! Thank god also it wasn't the rear main seal either , big job to fix that one ! It was the driver side rocker cover which wasn't tighten down enough where the oil was leaking from. Was leaking at the back of the engine , running down onto the bell housing & dripping off the gearbox. All we did was tighten up the screws on the cover ( got a couple of turns out of the back ones ) & so far oil has stopped leaking.
  21. I was thinking bout putting it on E85 , but the closes pump station is at the Goldcoast , which is bout 1 hour 15 min drive for me. So was going to wait for a while till it comes down our way before converting over. Head work was also mentioned for better airflow , they also do that sort of work aswell or find a place in the Brisbane area which do it for them. Where do u get the 6 boost manifolds from ?
  22. I'm looking to achieve my results on 98 octane fuel , as E85 isn't yet available where i live. As far as i know the turbo housing is 0.80 for inlet & 0.82 for exhaust . The previous owner gave me a list of mods which were already done & that is what he wrote down for the turbo housings. This is my 1st import so knowledge bout these cars are not as good as the rest of u guys , so i'm still a novice with skylines. That's why i went to Performance place to get advice & suggestions on what needed to be changed with the car. I already knew i had a fair few illegal modifications , so that is what i concentrated on firstly . So my 1st visit was mostly fabrication work , a few little general tidy ups & a retune. The owner suggested next he would change the plenum( plazmaman or greedy ) , exhaust manifold ( custom made one with alot better flow ) & look at changing the Ecu. Apparently the Microtech aren't the best for street use cause the adjustments are to far apart & suggested something which u can fine tune more . He named a few brands which they do & think Vipec comes to name as one of them. That is why i wanted other skyline enthusiasts opinions , so i could get more imput from other people.
  23. I'll pull the bolt out take it down the street & get a longer one. Hopefully with a bit of luck it will tighten as u said. If not then will have to retap a new thread in there . Thanks for the suggestion
  24. Hey guys , would like some suggestions on what would be recommended to do next for my R33 GTS-T to reach or break the 330rwkw mark. Also the best value for money & power gains. I will list what mods have already been done to the car & also some pics of the engine bay ! It is currently making 280rwkw on 20psi & was only tuned bout 2 weeks ago. Have already talked to my Performance workshop where i take it to on what he suggests to do next . Would also like some imput off other skyline enthusiasts ! I want to stay with the Rb25 block , no 3 litre bottom ends. We have been talking about replacing the standard plenum to either a Hypertune or Plazmaman plenum with same brand throttle body . Also changing exhaust manifold to inhouse custom made one & start looking into some head work. Aswell as changing from a standard cam & switching to a different Ecu which is more tune able . Thoughts & ideas would be much appreciated Mods - Rb25 engine 40 thou oversized Aria pistons Eagle steel rods APR headstuds Cometic headgasket HKS adjustable cam gears HKS 550cc injectors Garrett GT35/40R turbo Standard plenum but been converted to forward facing Ford XF 80mm throttle body Spitfire coilpacks Microtech Lt x 12s ecu Turbosmart E boost 1 Turbosmart 48mm external wastegate Turbosmart Plum back BOV XTR 4 inch FMIC 2 x Bosch external fuel pumps with surge tank 3 inch turbo back high flow exhaust system Jimberry high pressure race clutch Standard cam Standard head
  25. Have been under the car & wiped both gearbox & diff . Still both are leaking but my main concern is the gearbox , diff is getting less amount on the ground now. Do the breathers sit at the top of the gearbox near the bell housing ? When under the gearbox i noticed the oil was leaking from the bottom , where there is 4 bolts. 3 out of the 4 were tight but the bottom one was loose. So i tightened it up , but then it loosened off again. So that one bolt has been stripped inside the gearbox & can't get full lock onto it . That's where the oil is dripping from , also looks like it tightens upto some sort of gasket which where the gearbox bolts onto the back of the engine. If i drill it out & retap a new thread in there , so i can tighten the bolt back onto the gasket. Then do u think that will stop the leak ?
