  1. I think DBA's kangaroo paw design is what sets it apart from RDA, also did some research, and RDAs tend to crack when used at the track, so could be the reason why. Most probably with racing pads. Yea my pads were already chamferd, did exactly that, however the squeal was coming from the rotor not liking the pads. So i need to change the rotors. =p
  2. Im just curious, how much rwkw you running now in total? Cause a standard N/a skyline is roughly 90 - 100rwkw, gaining 60rwkw would mean you were running 40rwkw before? Unless you are putting out more than factory?
  3. Yup, leaning towards them, might get it from GSL rally sport. 240 per rotor for slotted i think? RDA were like 200 for a pair of cross drilled and slotted rotors, seems shifty =p
  4. All good, he used the brakes plus pads as reference, so HPX was equvilant to premium plus (just below high performance), and composite was 2- 3 steps below, so id assume anything that can withstand 250 degree heat as oppose to 550 like the hpx. He said benedix general CT would eliminate the squeal, but will also result in lower braking performance. Also recommended hawk (never heard of this brand).
  5. No worries, ill give an update after purchasing some new rotors
  6. Alright guys, the problem has been identified, however the solution has not been implemented as i am broke at the moment due to exams =p Anyways, the guys at brakes plus spent 2 hours fiddling around with the brakes,Using the process of elimination: - firstly what they did was the put the car up on a hoist and identified which side the squeal came from. It was from the passenger side, so what they did was swapped all the pins and brackets from the passenger side to the driver side. The noise still persisted on the passenger side. - Next they swapped the pads over, however the noise was still coming from the passenger side - Lastly they tried swapping the rotors, the noise was then generated from the drivers side. So the rotors were to blame for the squeal. The solution was to upgrade to aftermarket rotors, turns out the pads i was using (and a lot of other high performance pads) dont like OEM rotors, DBA 4000 or RDA slotted was the recommended option, unless i decide to switch to a lesser performing pad, like a cheap composite pad (which i feel defeats the purpose of having brembos =p). They charged nothing for the labor which was pretty generous of them considering they had spent a few hours on my car. But yea thats the main reason why i have such a harsh squeal, hopefully this helps everyone else with their squeal issues.
  7. Running too rich up top for a long period of time can also start to burn oil due to premature wear.
  8. Cheers for the advice, i will get a trolley jack for the garage, was kind of traumatic having a car fall like that =/ As for the brakes, discs were machined the same time as i got the pads, so eliminates one probability ;p But yea i will definitely do that. The bloke i spoke to said he will do all he can to rectify the problem, so hopefully should be sweet.
  9. Only a 2 week old turbo charged car owner, but isnt the compressed gases from the turbo blazing hot anyway? Hence why there is an intercooler? And wouldnt the airflow meter have some sort of influence on how much harder the turbo would work on a hot day compared to a cold to generate similar power levels? Just taking a shot here =p
  10. Was using the jack that came with the car man =/ Only had the car for 2 weeks so i suppose it isnt a factory evo jack (probably put in there for roady purposes). Ill give filing a shot, however i have no jack =p(load rating on my other 2 jacks too low) Ill take it to a brake shop and get them to do it. Better than buying another set of pads or dropping the car again. Ill change pads as a last resort. I feel ya man, get this nice turbo spool up sound, then a bloody squeal at < 30km braking. Disgusting. Destroys the integrity of the car.
  11. Yea ill give some street performance pads a shot. will report back. cheers for the help!
  12. Tried bedding them in again, no luck, also tried to get to the pads but the bloody jack snapped ==' Worst luck. Harsh braking seems to make the noise disappear, light braking just makes it squeal. Need to late brake every time to avoid squealing. Ill try another set of pads i guess =[
  13. Hmmm i dont think i did =/ Only performed step 1 and step 4 of that guide.
  14. Wow cheers man. Never thought it might actually be the discs, ill look into it now
  15. costs 380 dollars for another set of brake pads =[
  16. Hey guys Ive been getting this annoying squeal from the passenger side front brakes. Pain in the bloody ass, cant even stop without 50 people staring at me =='. I got the shims changed, and the problem still exists! Im bloody fed up. Been happening since i changed the pads to QFM HPX performance pads. I sprayed anti squeal behind the pads and the noise dissapeared for a while (a day at most), then came back worse than ever. Just got new shims for it today, but obviously i just wasted my money. It starts squealing after 3 ks worth of driving, so when its initially cold doesnt seem to squeal. Can someone please tell me what the bloody hell is going on . Additional info: brake fluids have all been changed, rotors machined. Sometimes the squeal will dissapear during the drive, then appear much louder. Also the squeal exists no matter how hard or soft i brake, its just a constant high pitched squeal. Cheers guys.
  17. Oh really? yea thats what i thought too, i told him to get genuine nissans but they were 1k, so we just looked for the best alternative, sadly we were too stupid to do adequate research ==' Ill get them changed to factory nissan then, hopefully it makes a difference. ill do exactly what you said, cheers for the advice man!
  18. Hey guys as the name suggests, was wondering if it was normal to lose power in the high rpm after a coil pack change? The coil packs were atomics, apparently they were as good as spitfires (according to the chart) so my cousin decided to buy it, and the power just dipped every since. We just want confirmation that it was indeed the coilpacks, not something else? To my knowledge dodgy coilpacks usually result in misfires not just loss is performance(without symptoms). We just want confirmation that it actually is the coilpacks, if not what else could it be? Spark plugs have also been changed(pfr5g11). Cheers
  19. Honestly, pretty much the same mate, havent flogged it yet, fuel efficiency wise also still the same.
  20. Just an update on the exhaust guys, i ended up purchasing it for 120 bucks, ,I took your advice and installed it at an exhaust shop, got the 2.75 inch hot dog resonator cut out and welded a 2.5inch one, i also purchased a silencer and bolted that onto the canon. Now the car just has a humble note to it, no drone or raspy sounds at all. Its slightly louder than my factory but not by much (which is what i was hoping for). The silencer has this volume control thing on it, so i could make it a bit louder or more softer if i wanted. Anyways cheers for the help guys, helped me a lot!
  21. What puzzles me is why do they still bother making Pods if they do shit all =/ Unless tuning is required to take advantage of a pod...maybe?
  22. Haha well Spending 2000+ on real rays just isnt worth the money on a n/a skyline, considering the wheels alone will be worth 25% of the value of an n/a skyline, and the op did say he didnt want to spend 1000+ on new wheels so its a fair alternative.
