ust watching CH7 news, with the first round being won by Will Power for Team Australia last weekend. This week they are at Long Beach. Now I have been watching nearly every champ car round since the early 90's, courtesy of the Channel 10 tv coverage. I believe Channel 7 now has the broadcast rights, however they are presently not showing it at any time. I feel this is an outrage, and is very disappointing to many Champ car and Will Power fans. A few people have discussed it at http://au.messages.yahoo.com/sports/motors...iscussion/3175/ Who else is angry with the decision not to show it?

Slide Turbo, Induction Noise, Flutter
Thunderbolt replied to MANWHORE's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
My thoery is, that the flutter has something to do with the plumback. The slide turbo is probably sucking more when you are backing off, so when the bov causes the air to go back to the intake, it causes reverberation hense you get flutter. That is my theory anyway. -
Spacesaver Spare
Thunderbolt replied to blind_elk's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
You need to run more pressure in space savers than you would normally so it can support the load. 60psi sounds fairly reasonable to me. -
There were some good articles in the earlier zoom magazines, as the editor at the time had one. I will try and find them when I get home in a couple of days and scan them up for you.

Boost Dilemma.. Controllers Won't Work
Thunderbolt replied to GTAAAH's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
It appears like you hooked it up right. The best process to work out the problems is to isolate where the problem is. You can do this by using a straight connector instead of the t-piece to see if there is a problem with the hose. If you are getting normal boost then you can safely say that it is not the hose causing the problem. Once this is done then run a little pipe off the bottom of the t-piece and block it off. This will tell you whether the t-piece could be the problem. You get where I am coming from anyway..... -
Ever seen how busy it can get? This will be even more so when the restrictions come in.

Just When You Thought Wrx's Couldn't Get Any Uglier!
Thunderbolt replied to bhappy's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I don't mind it. Could be a lot worse. I think that problem is that a lot of you are trying to compare it to the current model. If you have a look at it as a hatchback rocket, then it really doesn't look too bad. If it looked like a Daewoo Lanos, then you would have reason to complain. -
*Edit - Ignore post, just realised no longer relevant.

A lot of Nissans turn the pump on for a few seconds to get the fuel going through the system, before turning off again after a few seconds if you havn't started it. You might find in some cases that it is louder when you prime it, because it is not getting as much voltage when it is off and also you don't have the exhaust and engine noise to drown the sound out.
-
Could also be the ignition module. If that is on the blink, then no spark will get to the engine at all.

How did you get it for $250? The lowest I have seen JustJap are $399.

Firstly, if any of you read your policy, you may find words to the effect of "never admit liability in the case of an accident......". It is because of this, that many people lie so they don't void their policy by admitting they were at fault. As for the question about what you do. Ring up your insurance company and explain what happened. Say that you believe that the other person was at fault, and ask them where you go from there. Even on third party property insurance, sometimes insurance companies will pay for the damage to your car if the other person was at fault and does not have insurance themselves etc.

Why Is The Steering Wheel So Stiff?
Thunderbolt replied to bugger's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Also do you have larger / wider front tyres than your friend? -
Read an old magazine article on these years ago. Apparently the hydraulics failed in one of them and someone was stuck inside the car until they could do something about it. I can't remember the exact circumstances and what happened, but it sort of turned me off them.

I got a shot of that Anglia's engine bay:

39sec isn't the best ever time, it is a time to aim for so you can be part of the exclusive 39sec club. There have been numerous EVO / WRXes that have entered the 39 second club by doing 38.xxx. There are also numerous rwd cars that are in the 39 second club. However the GTR you are talking about (Mark Berry and Russell Newman) is a very quick car and much respect to it. EUG: To compete You need a Level 2 speed license and a the usual cams car mod stuff. It is a once a year event, It is usually around this time each year.

I would have got some written evidence from vicroads that you had gone there, and attempted to get the defect cleared and that they were happpy with it. Once that has happened then ring the police and get them to re-issue the notice. Take a copy of the written evidence and post it along with a copy of the new defect notice. Attempt to get the copies signed by a JP (a lot of workplaces have at least one JP), and post them to Vicroads and request that they fix you up. If they refuse the above, then send them a bill for your time. However if you didn't get written notice that you had gone to Vicroads originally then you are stuffed.

Nulon Petrol Injector Cleaner - Safe To Use?
Thunderbolt replied to SkyKC's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The Injector cleaner won't do anything that a lot of high-octane fuels won't. A lot of fuels these days carry detergent to clean up your injectors etc, while the engine is running. I can't imagine it would do harm though, so if you want to spend the money then do so. Personally I wouldn't bother. -
Trouble Getting Good Plates?
Thunderbolt replied to blackjet's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Well you can get away cheaper than that by using reproduced bodies and chassis. For example, the following site has bodies for around $8000-$9000 and chassis kits which includes lots of goodies (brakes, diff, suspension, steering etc) for around $12000. Obviously works out more expensive than the $15k, but in the end it would still be cheaper than the "rusty old shell". -
Just to expand on that, a car can be sold without a safety certicicate but must be sold unregistered as-is. Obviously if they are trying to sort out that issue now, then they are very dodgy and sold it illegaly. Possibly try to get Qld Transport onto them, as they could be up for some big fines.

There are a few options that I would take, if you havn't already done so. 1) The car yard should have contact details of the person that went on holidays. Nearly everyone has a mobile these days. 2) Ask the car yard if there is a regular workshop that they use. 3) Try ringing around a few workshops in the local area to see if they know anything.

You'd probably find that the quickest cars come out of Puerto Rico. Here's a video of a quick RX8, did a 6.81 @ 200mph in August 2005, and that still wasn't the quickest car at the time. http://videos.streetfire.net/Player.aspx?f...p;kw=11&p=0

Well I believe KKR is made in Korea, so the answer is "one would think so".

The fact that you are running a k&n panel filter (I guess in an otherwise stock box?), would be restricting the top end a bit. I suspect if you got pod-filter and cold air induction, there would be a fair bit of power gain there, and the power wouldn't start flattening out as soon.
