Penrite Diff Oil (fully Syn) Any Good ?
Thunderbolt replied to DREW32's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Are you thinking about Limslip 85W140? As for the original poster, if you are going to get an oil for the diff, then it is probably a good idea to get a oil specifically made for diff applications and that is where the Limslip oil comes in (hense the name). -
Word.

Well where has it got us? Why all this talk about puting a dam in the Gympie area? Common sense states that you will always get more rainfall east of the hills (ie. Mt Glorious, Nebo). It's all well and good puting in in a big catchment area, but if that catchment area isn't going to provide much water in the future then it's not much use. There are plenty of other options out there. Look at how much water goes into the storm water system and then out to sea. Rain water tanks should have been thought of by the government years ago, not just now.

No I meant that it isn't that bad as far as rainfall levels go. My grass is green and the weeds are going strong without any additional water. If I had a rainwater tank, I am sure that it would have overflowed plenty of times. Just when you go out west (Ipswich area) that you notice it.

It's not that bad, it's just that the rain dosen't fall where it is needed due to bad planning of dam location many years ago.

I found a good cheap boost controller for $22!!!
Thunderbolt replied to CEF11E's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I am guessing that you probably don't have a catch can? Does the boost controller line come off the intercooler pipe? If you answered yes to the above question, then you would probably find that the intercooler pipes have a film of oil on them and that you are getting a fair amount of blow-by. -
Free Access To Autospeed's 2006 Articles
Thunderbolt replied to fr0st's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Another option is to do a google search on one of autospeeds articles. Then you can click as much as you want on any other article and it will bring up all the information (including 2007 stuff). -
New Clutch Friction Point
Thunderbolt replied to simmyb's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Do you have the stock viscous diff in it? What I found happens with a viscous diff is it allows some slip off the line before the diff locks up. When it is in the process of locking up, you will feel some vibration (or shudder). It is more noticeable with a button, as you have to give it more to get it moving. If you have a clutch type diff (or open wheeler) then ignore what I just said. ps. simmyb: I know that some cars allow some pedal adjustment so the friction point will be right. You would probably find that you can do this. -
17"x9 On A R33 S2 With 18+ Offset
Thunderbolt replied to cjlancer's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Get some stretched tyres (Try 215s) and a bit more negative camber, then lip the guards and it will be better. -
There's a lot more to consider when you are into motorsport, as to which looks good or not. Personally looks would be the least of my priorities. The main things to consider is balance / suspension and ease to work on these components.

Spotted 666DAN yesterday afternoon on Beaudesert Road. I was in my Pulsar (behind another Skyline) so you wouldn't have seen me. This morning, spotted a crashed blue R33 4 door on Wynnum Road. Didn't seem to be too much damage apart from the front bar and a slightly bent bonnet. Hope it dosen't cost much to fix.

Spotted red Skyline V35 on Compton Road this arvy (plates "FULSIK"). Very nice looking car.

Which Oil For Cusco 2way Lsd
Thunderbolt replied to smoothR33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
A lot of people (including the diff shop that recently intsalled my Kaaz 1.5way diff) recommend the Penrite Limslip 85/140. -
Yeah that's me. Yes it was my first time. Best was 66.03 My car was suffering too much mid-corner understeer, so did not go as well as I had hoped. At least it gives me something to improve on for next time.

Nice photos. Thanks for the photos of my car (Champagne 180sx) in the latest round.

Looked bad hey. Looks like it must have been travelling at a rate of knots. *edit - by the way the man that died was the passenger. The female driver is in serious condition.

Stalling Prob With Modified Stock Bov (flutter)
Thunderbolt replied to Rochey's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I can confirm that my SR20 definitely stalled when car was near stock. I have a old schoold GFB Hybrid BOV, the type that both plums back and goes to atmo. I can barely remember a time when it didn't stall or nearly stall when giving it heaps and then backing off suddenly. I have even asked a mechanic to look at the issue, and they couldn't find anything wrong. -
Stalling Prob With Modified Stock Bov (flutter)
Thunderbolt replied to Rochey's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I have always had the same problem with my SR20. I believe it is caused from coming off the throttle too fast. This should not affect a MAP sensored car to the same extent, but a car with an AFM it will affect more. What I think happens is that air comes through the AFM and is measured and the ECU pumps the fuel in for that air. However as the air travels along it meets a closed throttle body. Combustion however sitll tryes to take place, but cannot due to there being no air. f you get back on the thottle quick enough, the air will return and prevent it from stalling but if you leave the thottle closed then there is simply too much fuel and not enough air and it will stall. The key to preventing this is to give the thottle a blip in situations where you suspect that it may stall. -

It may not be the contoller that is causing the "lag". Lag between gears is normally because of long intercooler pipes. When you change gears the air gets released from the system, and has to travel all the way along the intake system again. This cannot happen instantly, so you may feel some lag. This is one of the reasons why the V-mount intercooler systems are so popular in Japan. -
Ten has most of the shows that I watch. I have no real preference though: Smallville Supernatural 1 hour news B & B Futurama (when it's not a repeat) Simpsons (when it's not a repeat) Champ car racing

Nice pix. Looks like it was a good day.

Ideally, you race a car that you can afford to crash. That is one of the reasons why you see a lot of older cars at a lot of amateur events.
-
Exactly. Someone that has been unfairly targetted by the police, should make a stand and talk to the media and see if they will do a story. If it's in anyway true, then the media will lap it up.

Well they seem to know your car and your address, so if they were interested in stealing it, they probably would have already. On the other hand, I don't know why they would be hunting cars for "readers rides". Usually what happens, is that a magazine comes out and then advertises for reader's rides. Because your car is not getting featured as such, then I would just wait until it comes out. It is unlikely to be a one-off offer that you will never get a chance to have again.
