agree, 2 marks are 4 degrees, which is not a stupid amount, assuming the cam timing was alright to start with Did you you use higher compression pistons that stock. pull the head off and you may find the answer, I feel for you

Haha, this is the best post yet, because i'm already running the new V2 Turbotech boost controller, bought it from you a few months back nothing against them, for the small price, it works well, adding an extra 10 psi it does the job. Now we can all see the boost is dropping away, but its a fair amount of boost for these turbos..... on the road i held it flat in 3rd and am seeing 1 bar at 4200-4300, which i thing is really not too bad, i'm not sure checking boost response on the dyno is the best way. Cheers though for the offer mark, honesty it has good mid range and boost response for these turbos, it really is doing a good job, just not on the dyno.....

is it just the photo, or does the exhaust wheel have like 1-2mm clearance to the housing?? defiantly hi flowed stock turbo, off something

cars running on BP ultimate The exhaust is all explained in the first post. As much as i sound like a tosser to say it.... it seems like the dyno is wrong?? I've owned 3 different setups in cars that have run low 11's one was running 126mph with 330rwkw in a vl This seems quicker that all of them to drive, seems to turn the tires coming onto boost into 3rd in rwd only fairly easy in a straight lie too. When we were first running it up, the most it would make was 24hp, because of some incorrect setting on the dyno, lol
-
more importantly, ensure the engine temp is kept under control and adequate oil pressure all the time.
-
Strange thing is, i drove another r33 gtr today, -5's 350 rwkw, with dyno sheets etc and my car did not feel slower, may need to buy myself a private road to do a bit of a test for comparison.
-
The cams are drop in items with a reduced base circle, thicker shims etc There wasn't a card with them, so i just have them set as per standard
-
Ok so after checking the boost pressure on the road with a mate, we have found it to be 26psi dropping to 25psi. With this knowlege i will continue working around it to see what i can find. may back the boost off to 20 psi as well until i know what is going on......
-
I'm just setting up another boost gauge that has a 30psi scale, will check and record what the boost is doing on the street, hopefully it will remove some confusion. The air fuel ratios need some more work, but considering they are not miles off I left it as is until I can get everything performing in the ballpark.
-
on the top graph, the boost is dropping from 27 to 25 psi, fairly sure thats right.............
-
could you explain the hoses setup better, are you using a turbosmart bleed valve or similar?
-
lets hope so. I really wanted to do a before/after test, will be good for me and the forum, if it makes the difference to push power over 350rwkw where it should be i will be quite shocked!!!
-
I was thinking this also, "big" (lol) rush of power seems very close to 5000rpm on the street
-
true, i only have a cheap ass turbotech valve on it too. Before a retest i will remove the chamber from the air box install a EBC, probably Profec B 2 install the new exhaust. Triple check the cam timing and base ignition timing. funny thing is, with any more than 14 degrees of timing the power seemed to drop, unless the heat soak make s a huge difference?? Ahh the joy of learning
-
fair enough too, but really, a 3" exhaust, i would have though the power would have kept pulling to the limiter, perhaps 330-340rwkw Do you thing the graph shows a bottleneck?
-
It wont be rb27 though??
-
I have some HPI 3" dumps and twin 3" into 4" system to go on, just needs a few more bit modified etc. should be soon Also i do have some cam gears, but not fitted, mostly because they are ebay ones, and i'm unsure if i should trust them???
-
I really think the top of the graph is really flat. perhaps indicating an exhaust upgrade, which i will be doing regardless. one other thing i was thinking, with the stock air box, i only run the stock air feed, i will remove the 'chamber' from the botom of the box to see if the extra 3" hole makes much difference. really looks like a restriction to me, the power just rises and stops dead, then flat lines...... I have my theories, but i'm keen to see what people think if could be
-
You think so? I was thinking i was running 1.5 bar, i have a 1.5 bar gauge and upped the boost until i thought it was at the top of the gauge, so was quite shocked to see what his dyno had to say, assuming i was running 22 psi max, i assume his sensor is reading ok??? I will fit a better gauge soon anyway to see for sure.

Ok so, my car is shit, that's a good start. but seriously I always road tune my car, just do it myself with the data logit package etc. Thought, hey why not throw it on the dyno and have a quick look at where i am at. I'm about to upgrade the exhaust and thought it would be interesting to see what difference is made and was thinking of helping out this site with some real world data etc. my car ...... R32 GTR R33 rb26 stock bottom end JUN 264 9.7mm 700cc sards z32 AFM's stock airbox, KnN panel 2860-5's exhaust is... HKS copy dumps some no name s/s front pipe 63mm x 2 into 3" 3" decat HKS super dragger The dyno i used is a Dyno Dynamics with latest software etc, owned privately. The owner has tuned a few cars but, he left me to my own to use his dyno etc and just go for it. This is great for me, because i love playing with this sort of stuff etc. Not awsome for when i would like support. When i went i hadn't slept for 23 hours, because of night shift, yep, shit idea, so i really wasn't on the ball on the day either, any way, results.... Top graph boost and tourqe bottom kw and AF dont laugh......

So do you run a higher pressure aftermarket oil pump? Is this the reason for changing the restrictor size. First I've heard of someone doing so with bolt on garrets

1991 R32 Gtr - Turbo's Stopped Working
blue_vl_t replied to Methor's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The cat temp light will come on when the exhaust temp is too high and may damage your cat. It doesnt know if your cat is stuffed. Drop the exhaust and check the cat, and hope you don't find the turbine wheel in there too. -
Yea, fair enough, not sure what I was thinking, it was early morning lol

The tyre would most likely fit on ok, it would look a bit strange I would think, a 275 is really meant for a 10.5+ rim. You would be better off going a 255 or similar in a good quality tyre perhaps. Why do you want so large?
