It's not that standard gauges in most cars are not accurate, they're usually set to sit in the middle at acceptable temps. Once it starts getting toward the too hot range it'll go up. Most people just prefer to know exactly what the temps are doing.

I wouldn't imagine you'd really need a broker for an interstate purchase, should be easy enough to organise between yourself and the seller.

My car was in the open during the night. There was some hail but not big enough to cause any damage

I want e85 damn it. Western Australian Government needs to wake up

Spotted Mk2 ! Do Not Post Licence Plate Details
FluffyDiceAndaV8 replied to 10 4's topic in Western Australia
R33's are out everywhere today around Rockingham/Kwinana. Still had wheels when they left -
Make your car as tidy as possible. If it looks like you genuinely look after it and take good care of it then they won't pick on you as much.

Think I saw a clean Stagea on Thomas rd about 10pm. Would have been a fun play if I was going the same way -

Spotted random Wine red r33 Turning onto Thomas road about 3.30pm. Foot slipped? lol -
I think I'll probably go to Tristan, seeing as he specialises in Toyota, and has experience with the ECU and the engine, makes for less experimentation. I've spoken to him and I think I have a plan in place now for tuning. I just know I'm going to be recovering from "invoice rape" after this major service and cam/springs install for a while. Appreciate all the input though.

E-manage Ultimate (emu) 56k Beware (screen Shots)
FluffyDiceAndaV8 replied to STATUS's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I have a question here, searching hasn't helped me much in this regard. In regards to NOS control, I figure I can set the EMU to send an aux signal to squirt happy gas at certain RPM, but how do I get the EMU to recognize when I have the nitrous system armed, and switch to a different timing map when this happens. So say I want to go full Nozzle at 3000 rpm and also retard the timing at the same time, then shut down the nitrous before hitting the rev limiter (Which will be changed to an ignition cut instead of fuel cut) Is this Possible with the EMU? Also can it progressively increase the amount of Gas I'm injecting? Would be nice to start with say 25% at 2750 rpm and hit 100% at 3500rpm or so. -
Please don't weld the diff :-o *Shudders* (pun intended)

I've had a battery charger tell me my battery is full a number of times but after a few hours it starts reading right (Flat) Same battery worked fine after charging it on and off for about 4 days (Slow charger) And as far as I remember disconnecting the battery to see if the car runs on the alternator only works on old cars where the alternator is in a circuit with the ignition system or whatever. I would never hook up a charger to any car with an ECU :-|

You Know, That Really Grinds My Gears Thread.
FluffyDiceAndaV8 replied to AlphA's topic in WA Wasteland
Not having my car back for 9 weeks on what should be a 2 week job. And that in fact does grind my gears because I have to drive my bush bashing patrol, and I believe there's some sort of unnatural grinding going on somewhere in that thing. -
Any specific reason so many tuners try to avoid the Emanage? I can't find any specific reasons, is it just the difficulty in tuning them or limitations? I know people had issues with the blue but thought the ultimate was a better unit
-
Yeah I thought the same, but with lack of people having experience with 1uz, and rushing to get the job done sometimes ya take the first mechanic who seems to know what he's talking about. Am sure it'll be worth it in the end, forgot the timing belt and water pump and all that being done too. Sure won't be taking the engine apart again for a long while
-
That's the approx tally so far :-(, includes the purchase of the cams, springs. All the valve seals, plugs and some hoses and bits n pieces plus labour . Engine needed to come out to get the exhaust side valve springs and seals. Should be getting finished up by next week. *Fingers crossed*
-
Guess the options are EMU, or drive around on stock ecu for a while and save for a bigger standalone job. Let's hope it idles with those cams in. Another bonus to the EMU is you can go mafless, apparently the maf is quite a restriction.
-
I know the units are are around the same price for standalone, but all the extra wiring and tuning from scratch will add up quickly. Plus these Auto's need the extra transmission controller unless ya fork out extra for an ECU that can do that as well. Don't wanna manual it either :-p
-
Yep already contacted Tristan, he can tune the EMU but still recommends a full standalone. If Getting some cams put in wasn't costing me over 5 grand I'd be slightly happier to spend a bit more on management :-|
-
Thanks mate, but none of those ECU's are what I need. I've done a bit more reading and it still looks like the only Piggy back that can raise a factory fuel cut is the EMU, not exactly spoilt for choice huh. And the 1uzfe isn't supported by greddy although a few people have used it with good results. I guess I'm dreaming thinking there'd be more piggybacks with ignition control.
-
Already emailed him yesterday evening. Don't want to be making phone calls until i've actually got my car back running, but now's a good time to start working on a plan of attack for tuning. Thing should really start moving once it's tuned for those 4 lumps of billet.
-
Yeah piggy back for auto control as well as keeping it's safeguards, plus paying for an SS4 or the likes on top of a full aftermarket computer is a bit of a stretch considering I only need some fuel trim and a bit of timing to suit cams, if I was going a decent boost I'd look for something better. Ill pm ya now Corey
-
Already read up on that, thing is I need ignition control to raise the rev limiter and it needs to be a piggy back for now. I think I've just about read everything on the internet about 1uzfe's and ECU's
