Using my Nokia N97mini i could log into the old forum and do everything as normal. On the New system i click the arrows on the top right which give me some options, if i go to the login one and enter my details, it reloads up the home screen with the forums but doesn't log me. Pulled a quick search but only found stuff for iphones and android. So sorry if this is been covered. Cheers Kurt

Decided i'm going to do it properly. I want something like this: http://motamota.r31skylineclub.com/index.php?topic=143360.0 But i'd like to have the amps on the other side of the wall. what are your thoughts people? Cheer Kurt

Just had a look to check the space under the rear seats, no such space exists. For the time being i think i'll stick the sub drivers side behind rear seat and stick the smaller amp on the passenger side to the back of rear seat, and my bigger amp next to sub, under smaller amp on floor. if that makes sense. Maybe later i might put a dummy wall sitting a little back from the rear seats and put the two amps on that wall inbetween the seat and wall. dunno, i think i'll just bodge it up so everything is secure with plenty of breathing room. Might just place things every where and see what looks best. Cheers for the reply. Kurt

Alrighty, i have installed my head unit, and wired up my 4 channel amp and the 4 speakers to it. I Have also run all the wires for my 2 channel amp to connect to my sub. At the moment my 4 channel amp is just sitting in the boot (Stable and not sliding around). I was thinking of two ways about this, for those of you familar with a 31 boot (should be most of you), at the back of the car its all flat and then just before the rear seats it is a little raised and still flat. Originally i was going to tuck my sub right into rear passenger side over the exhaust because it was out of the way and sat in there nice and tight. But due to the recent install of a turbo, that spot gets quite hot now. With the sub there i was going to mount the two amps up on the raised flat part or to the backs of the seats. Now my thoughts are putting the sub up on the raised part, facing away from the seats at it fits in nice and tidy there too and then mounting one amp to the back of the seat next to it, and the other on the floor below the other amp. this would be just as tidy, if not better. A question i have is that if i were to mount the amps under the rear seat, would they get to hot due to the lack of ventilation? I would like to put them there as they would be hidden, and wouldn't be taking up any room. And if i had to put vents in the front of the rear seats, (just where the back of your legs would be), with fans or something i could probably conjure something up. So does any one have any suggesting or feed back for me? Cheers Kurt.

running about .8bar, which is about 12psi i think. engine has only just been rebuilt and i'm running it in as per my mechanics instructions. will hopefully get some stuff up for ya's later on today, wont be able to get any decent pictures up for a bit cause i can't get under the car. tis very low. any one who wants to have a look at it just drop me a pm, im in Tas (Hobart) so all my two headed cousin's can have a peek. cheers

the gear box is on its way out, i have a spare one but i have no idea on it's condition, when i booked it in we were going to put an lsd in it but i forgot to ask if that got done. guess i'll have to go do a road test and work that out. what costs are involved in making the auto tougher? im assuming the lsd would have manual diff gears but as i have no knowledge on that topic i am just assuming.

sorry fulla's only got her back yesterday and haven't been to the track yet, brakes seem stiffer then i remember so thats something i gotta tackle first. for those of you who haven't seen it yet, find my thread "STS Turbo Setup" in forced induction. Oh wait, here's the link, forgot i could do that: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/340173-sts-turbo-setup/ cheers

Alrighty, Got her back yesterday. dont have the dyno sheets on me but i remember most the figures i think. Firstly i'd like to mention cause she's got a stock slush box in it, i'm refering to the auto, we couldn't push it to much and we were getting consistant 175rwkw and we could of got a few more pounds of boost on but the gearbox won't handle any more power. So for the time being we've dropped it back to 165rwkw until i get around to putting a r33 manual box it. Mechanic has told me with a conversion and a retune we would get over 200 atw.\ I think i had about 75~78 rwkw before and about 200nm torque, she now has around 165rwkw and somewhere over 400nm torque. like i mentioned above, its a stupid auto. will get around to that when i have money. dont have any pictures or the dyno sheets on me but i will get them to ya's as soon as i run out of money for fuel. oh and the boost is coming on around 3000rpm when ya flick through the gears your self and a little later when in drive. it is a little laggy for my liking but its also a good thing cause i can drive her around lightly when i dont want to attract attention. will get more to ya's soon.

I plan on taking it pretty easy. After all it'll be a new engine and i gotta break it in gently.
-
Yeah i think i follow ya. Gonna get the missus to do a few bog laps in her corolla for some fun. Might let her have a lap in mine if i feel she's up for it.
-
ah yes, handbreak makes sense. I had a think about it after and figured it was something like that. Oh another thing, what pressure should i have my tyres at? There on 15 inch rims and there just a tad bigger then standard. Ie i think the side wall is 65 instead of 60. Oh and the weather is forcast rain. So what should i do in wet conditions? Cheers

Whats this about the handbreak lsx? Amd i always warm up/ down properly when driving.

i've got an external oil cooler for the transmission, and i'll have another one for the turbo, are you recomending a third for the engine oil? Or run that through the same one for the turbo?
-
Cheers. I'll pick up a gauge tomorro. Gonna grab a 20L jerry can too just in case she chews the fuel a bit much. The ecconomy wasn't too great before she got worked and i don't see it getting any better. Especially around a track.
-
as far as i know there will only be one car on the track at a time. I have an oil cooler for the transmition as it has a manual radiator. Also have a spare auto gearbox. Brand new pirelli p6's on the car so i'll take it easy so i don't chew them. All the fluids in the entire car will only be about a day old when i get to the track. Cheers for the feed back so far.

Not sure who is gonna be there. A friend of mine built a racecar and every one who helped is heading down. We booked the track for the whole day just to our selves. My mechanic drift's and im sure he's had racing experience so i'll ask him for some tips, plus he's got my car at the moment so i'll make sure he gets it ready for racing. Is there anything i'll need to do after the day is over? Ie: book it in for new brakes?

alrighty, getting my 31 back this friday and me and some friends have booked out baskerville raceway for the day. we're expecting somewhere between 200 - 240 rwkw from my car and unfortunatly it's an auto with a stall converter and lsd. only an auto cause my budget ran out and what not. any way, what i was hoping for is some tips on racing and what things i should watch/concentrate on doing. never been on the track before and the main reason im getting on the track is cause i wanna get used to my car before i take it back on the road and because i want to be able to have some fun in a controlled environment where i can't hurt no one else. not a fan of dangerous road driving. any comments/tips/input is appreciated and any one who doesn't have constructive critism and just wants to shoot me down, go for it, i'll just think your a knob anyway. sorry for any spelling mistakes and thanks in advance.

Cheers fulla's. Would buy one online buy i would wanna wear it first so i know it fits nice. Plus i don't have time to wait for one to get here. Will go see hamish tomorro i think.

To buy a new helmet that is.
-
Any good places in or around hobart?
-
Haha. Neither do i. What i mean by it is that if is only gonna be a hundred or 2 too buy a decent one i will, but if it's gonna cost 300 or something like that i'd rather just hire a good one for a fraction of the price.
-
Racing at baskerville this saturday and my friend says i will need full body clothing and a helmet. So i was wonering if any one has a suitable helmet i could borrow, hire or buy. Or could some one recommend where i can get one. I don't think i will be using it ver often so probably won't buy one unless there cheap. Any info on cost, brand or even what kind of helmet is appreciated cause i know just about nothing about them. cheers
-
Haven't got it back yet. I've been garenteed to have it this friday, which i will make sure happens cause i've hired baskerville for the whole day this saturday. I'm just about sick of waiting though, was supposed to be done 2 months ago. Will post up results along with a detailed list of what been done to it as soon as i get the chance to.

Is It Safe To Drive The Car Hard
Johny Bravo replied to Jamo30's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Haha, your all haters. Simply because you don't agree with someone. Good stuff that is!
