On a similar note guys.. when replacing the dumps you are going to lose the stock heat shields. How important are these and what are you guys doing about it ? If its necessary, im thinking of wrapping mine in that fabric that keeps the heat in. I know theres ceramic coating as well but sounds expensive? Or are yas putting the stock shields back on by welding ?

Rb20. Punish the thing until it dies and get another one and repeat. Its loves pain.. give it more. I think you are making it bored and its coughing in the mornings from lack of exercise. besides drunk ramblings. compression looks ok to me... maybe your guage just reads lower than others )which you know). not much difference between the cylinders.

How To Tell A Ceramic Turbo Against A Non Ceramic
hazerb30 replied to nsta's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I wondered how i was going to tell too. But just looking at the cermic ones its pretty obvious its ceramic -
If it was me i wouldnt be too worried about basic mods. Replacement turbos to get rid of the cermic ones - something smallish like HKS GT-SS. Things like Power FC, new fuel pump/coil pack/injectors/clutch/suspension are all worthy mods. More so just to have the 20year old stuff replaced with new stuff. Sure, avoid the ones that are modified to get maximum power but consider the lightly modified ones that are just good sense

Im in the middle of swapping GTR turbos and have got all the gaskets and copper washers except the metal gasket between the turbos and the dump pipes. Dumps are 2nd hand X-force and turbos are R33 gtr rebuilt with steel wheel and apparently high flowed. Nissan Genuine is $70 each and needs to be ordered. C-Red wants $50 each Turbotech who everyone says to go to in perth dont have them. Weird as they said they have all the nissan ones usually. Coventrys and veale dont sell them. Top racing and speedworks are closed. Need 2 gaskets tomorrow but i sure dont want to pay $100 for 2 gakets. thats just retarded. Any ideas? Saying all this. Whats the consensus on re-using old gaskets or can i make my own.

Good to see the protective gear did its job Only thing you were missing was the Draggin jeans.

Just avoid Dlink. I hate the useless POS they sell Netcomm ive had some bad experiences with in the past. in particular the 1300 series they used to sell, dont know what its like these days Dynalink is a little known brand but fantastic reliability and setup. Thats what ive got. 1025w i think it is. Netgear is a solid bit of gear too. Basic router with wifi is DG834G and is around $100. My work has installed 50+ out in the field and they are great Belkin have got a great rep but havnt used it myself always check this place for prices http://www.staticice.com.au

Fs. Rb26/25/20 Rockercover Gaskets.
hazerb30 replied to JDMS15's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Nice price. are they genuine nissan or permaseal ? I just bought permaseal kit for $110 and that was trade price. I was a bit worried about being non nissan but quality is perfect free bump -
Painting and Powder coating rocker covers
hazerb30 replied to maximumrpm's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Hey any ideas if it would be ok to hit the ignition module with a quick coat of paint ? I dont know how succeptable to heat they are and how much a light coat of paint would affect it. I guess people paint intercoolers so it cant be too bad? -
Painting and Powder coating rocker covers
hazerb30 replied to maximumrpm's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Some nice covers in here Doing mine in Metalcast Smoke colour. I was going to go the red but i figured it would stand out too much in the dirty engine bay Covers pulled off Finished paint Part number for RB26 Engine rocker cover seals if you dont mind buying aftermarket. Permaseal was the brand and fits really well. Fits other RB's too. Comes with the half moons and screw gaskets. $100 trade price. Things i learned. Get the proper Metalcast primer if you are slack. If you dont, you have to get the covers perfectly clean and every bit of paint off and then polish them till they shine. It takes quite some time. Metalcast needs a shiny surface to paint on especially with the reds/lighter colours otherwise the finish isnt the same. Cant use regular primer. 1 can wasnt enough for me. I havnt even done the middle piece as i ran out. anyone else? All the costs add up if you are doing it yourself. For me it was $40 paint. then Sandpaper, Buffing kit, Autosol polish, Wax and grease remover. Then theres the time it takes.. consider getting someone else to do it. more pics when back together -
Front Strut Tower Fasteners
hazerb30 replied to FLY12N's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Go to coventrys fasteners. If you have it over there Otherwise a specialist nuts/bolts/fastener shop. Take in an example of what you want and they will match it -
yeh maybe some noise filter or ground loop isolator but it looks like it has 12v written on it though. kinda weird, as if it does something. Perhaps an over engineered relay/distribution block

who would pay $750 for that. I thought the box of hair gel for sale on the forums was bad enough Harden the f*k up australia

the oil pressure sender unit in the GTR is shite which makes the guage read all over the place. As for the oil light, thats a different story im pretty sure it runs independantly and if it comes on its not good. It could always be a electrical issue though how was the car behaving? normally? weird noises ?

Yeh i would but my car came from japan with shithouse HKS pods. Id love to get the stock airbox but they are worth a mint because people need them for licenscing/compliancing or something.

Yeh dont give those people your details. its all marketing BS and you will get phone calls and letters sent out

Painting and Powder coating rocker covers
hazerb30 replied to maximumrpm's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
im doing my 26 covers atm and will be using the new Metalcast smoke colour. Thing with metal cast paint is that it requires a shiny surface underneath before the paint goes on to get the good effect. I have tried using normal primer on a test item and it looked crap. There is a special primer for the metalcast paint that is shiny but i couldnt find it or order it in anywhere in wa. So im polishing my covers to get the shine and then paint Process so far has been Paint stipper Paint stripper again Sand Sand again finer Polishing wheel for hours clean paint Its a long process. Hope to have pics up soon -
I thought apexi going out of business was a false rumour. Or they were in trouble and things are looking fine now They certainly seem to be pumping out the PowerFC's as per normal. I just bought secondhand Apexi pods so i too am interested in cleaning. I thought air compressor at a lowish setting would do the trick

Ill be driving my 32r around without a bumper to workshops over the next couple days. If cops pull me over ill be explaining the troubleshooting process.. theyd have to be bastards to sticker it. Trouble is.. they just sticker you for anything so its a risk.

Ive used both the black trim wax and the mothers back to black. It just doesnt last long enough and my window seals go that whiteish colour again. Forever black was heaps better, cant remember who makes it. EDIT heres a link http://www.autogeek.net/forblacbumtr.html
