ive got some minor rust around the jack points in my r32 gtr I need to get the side skirts off to ensure its not hiding under there as well. I can see the screws and some plastic clips holding the skirt on. If someone has removed them before and has some advice it would be appreciated. I'd prefer not to break clips and make a mess of it. Or do the clips have to be broken?

hey Lindsay. yeh its taken a while good idea there with the vice will do that. Ive decided to get the stock plates and spend the money elsewhere. I just got back from welshpool- they failed the car. Said there was play in the front steering somewhere (bushes, tie rod ends or something like that) because when jacked up they could wiggle the tyre. really the movement was was piss all.. meh they were so quiet today i was only car there for 10 mins and all the inspectors had a look over it. Nice blokes but still bastards

yeh just looking at these options is doing my head in. Im thinking normal size plates and trimming the edges. I realise its probably illegal but its only like 10mm.

finally time to run the 32 over the pits tomorrow! Im going for welshpool and im just getting all the stuff together What size/type plates is everyone using for the 32 ? I ask because i know i have to bend the standard size plates cos they are 374mm and the space available at the rear of the r32 is only ~365mm. So i thought everyone was getting slimline but they are the same width :S So whats the go? people trimming plates a tiny bit to fit ? Getting the 3/4 length ones? Whatever you guys fits/looks best and is cheap ?

How Do I Know Which Gtr To Buy?
hazerb30 replied to Hawley_GTRRR's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
ill bite cos im bored at work. searching will get you much more info Certainly dont judge an engine by the paint on it. Stock paint always peels off the engine in the 32 and doesnt usually mean anything. Even if it had nice new red paint on it that means sfa too, you have no idea if its been modified or just painted. you want to see receipts for any work done. Never trust the KMS on a jap car. the clocks do get turned back in a big amount of imports and also a lot of 32's have the aftermarket 320km Nismo guages in them so the kms are wrong for sure anyway. Judge the car on general condition. When i got mine i was looking at wear on the steering wheel / handbrake/seats (if they are original) to guage how often/hard it had been driven. sounds stoopid but kms i ignore, go on overall condition of the vehicle. I say it is essential that you perform a compression check on any 26dett engine if you have the luxury of buying one already in Oz. its a very expensive rebuild process if you buy a dud ($5k upwards). get a overall check of the car done buy a qualified mechanic who is familiar with the gtr and get him to check all the usual stuff. if you can get a gtr with a confirmed 100% (receipts whatever) rebuilt engine then thats a winner in my books. still get compression check. Dont get me wrong, a rb26dett is a RB engine after all (tough) and if treated well it can do over 200'000 before needing rebuild. who knows if its been treated well though.... get the checks done. if they wont let you, dont buy it. GTR kick ass. expensive to fix. be prepared -
Is anyone here buying 145 oil filters that have that nut welded on top (like in the photo djr81 put up) ??? It would be much easier would it be for RB26DETT owners to get in there!

Thanks bankids, ill have to pull out now anyways. Something is broken on my main car and needs to be fixed

Ive just done oil change for the first time on a R32 gtr. Its a freakin pain in the ass to get to that filter!. I ended up getting this socket attachment that has 3 claws to grip and turn the filter and it worked a treat. Anyways its all back together now and my oil pan is showing 5L of oil came out of the engine. I put 4.5 Litres back in and checked the dipstick but its got oil 3/4 of the way up the dipstick. I took it out of my driveway to a level surface and still the same. wtf? I read somewhere that rb26 takes the best part of 5L. Wondering if i should drive it tonight or wait till tomorrow and check it again.

If you really get stuck borrow mine. 17" 255's. have to give me a hand to jack it up and get em off. They are exactly in line with the guards so should be ok. I dont live close but if you need em... -

wtf that was weird! pics be good. im sourcing some 'free' pipe next week. will let you know how it goes

interesting though. Ive never looked into using fibreglass . i just want to keep this one simple and cover PVC in carpet. The small idea ive got is putting a thin neon light inside the tube and cut out the word SKYLINE or something into the PVC.Then use some tinted plexi/perspex to cover underneath. Ill heat it up and form it into a curve to fit and make it airtight. Hopefully it will look the goods and not tacky Gotta get the pipe and also figure out the airspace i need for a 10" kicker sub. ill do some searching on this unless its allways the same for basic 10" sub like mine?
