It's Official - Canberra Drivers Ranked #1
J'son replied to Sinista32's topic in Australian Capital Territory
Yeh prob is all we can do is bitch about these Canberra drivers, yet we're stuck driving in Canberra.. And getting lumped into the category of Canberra drivers. Do my best never to be lumped into that category, but if I do something wrong, I wouldn't mind knowing. So sick of people tailgating me though, esp when I often sit a couple km's over the limit as it is. -
Mine is keeping out of the rain til fix the boot leak (around tail-light). I siliconed it yesterday, so fingers crossed I got it right. Then can drive my car again! Damn rain lol

Bugger. Depending what you need stuff can be posted, or a delivery can be organized, esp if is regular stuff. We can look after you

Haha fair enough. I do a moderate amount of photography, used to do more, and have some ideas for good shots of cars, but could always do more and better. And keen to hear advice and ideas for shooting cars, and that would prob add greatly to this thread. BTW Zennon, how do u put a pic in ur signature?
-
Oh yeah coppins crossing, that was the other one I heard was closed... And thats never good when the foot bridges are flooded out also. Few places around kingston were closed on tues (and still are) due to flooding. I think remembering to read peoples signatures is prob a good idea, esp since people put their professions there, but other useful stuff (sometimes) - *has now properly read Shells signature*.
-
Can confirm that those areas are closed Shell. There are a few other closures head on the radio, and flooding within suburbs eg Kambah, holt, higgins. Traffic from Giralang to Mitchell was hectic this morn for one of the first times in the past 4 years..
-
Who reads Shell's sig (cept you it seems)...
-
Spotted Barry drive flooded near Macarthur Ave and half closed with cops at 9:45pm. Also spotted Baldwin drive between marabanong ave ends closed by cops also...

So gonna tell us what actually happened? -
Since this is a car forum, can we get some examples and suggestions as to the best angles and ways to take photo's of vehicles. What ways are best to make cars look flasher and more flattering. What angles work best to avoid showing the bad points of a car. Perhaps some examples and suggestions, and ways to frame a car to make the best use of backgrounds, or how to get good shots of your car when you are just shooting it from your own backyard or out in the street where the background is rather horrible?

Jax In belco (and prob other Jax) always do a great deal on tires. Where do we get the info and discounts on the Federals Shell?
-
For 50c - $1 the mailman does all the work. But yeh I work in mitchell and live in giralang. Most important mail that aint bills I get to come to work.
-
I have a mailbox but yeah, can try meeting somewhere at some point. Worst case at the meet and greet before the christmas cruise, I'm not doing the cruise but will come to chat.

Ok well the water leak it is from the housing of the rear tail lights. Where they join in the back, not enough tar or silicone was put in. I put automotive silicone around it a few weeks ago, and is better, but still leaking in one spot. Gotta wait for it to dry and try yet again. This is pissing me off. Driving the old car around while trying to fix this *fingers crossed that perhaps it is seen and gets sale interest*

Hey Troy, how do I go bout getting the manual from you?

There are always legalities and issues. Primarily from what I understand it has to do with your place of dwelling. I don't think you should have to change your license and rego if only here short term, eg 2-5years max.. This can be an issue for people who work in defense and travel regularly for work... But as far as the law is concerned, you are meant to change your rego and license within 2 weeks of moving to a new dwelling, so from that I think it fair that if still own a home etc, and have your bills etc there, and just get mail forwarded for a time, and then are moving back, it is fair to be able to keep rego and licenses from those places. Your issues may arise during insurance claims. Obviously you need to adjust your garage address for some parts of insurance, but if make an insurance claim or are involved in an accident the police and insurance companies may inquire into why your licensing and registration is not local. And as long as you have a clear story and a firm reasoning for it, generally at worst you may get is a warning and a request to change things. If lucky they'll won't even ask or will leave it be at that.

Sad what some people do. Really is.

Never seen the magnetics nicked at lights, thats funny as (even though kinda feel bad for ya). Also still gotta be wary with any plates leaving em on the car in a car park. I used to have my cable tied into the metal brackets. I've seen lotta pplz use the static window ones or the ones hanging off a suction cup, but I know in act they don't approve of it, cos it "blocks your vision".. As if you'd be dumb enough to put it where interfers with your vision. But ahh well.

P-plate Ruling On Turbos In Act
J'son replied to .monkey.punisher.'s topic in Australian Capital Territory
My Pulsar. being a sports model, when first got it I was paying $2200 p/a. I had to search quite a few insurance companies before got insured. Ended up with NRMA, car under dad's name and me as a driver to get the best deal. At 25 now driving my r33 gts-s insurance for me was around $1500 p/a insured for 16.5k through shannons. If have a good driving record, no fines or infringements previously, and put the car as you as a driver, car under parents name, you can usually do a lot better, and get their no claim bonus etc. I've got my fingers crossed for minimal probs and issues.. That all the cosmetic bits (apart from scratches on rims) are done and sorted. That all I really have to keep forking over for is standard work and maintenance nothing stupid... Mine has 86000km's on the clock, but the service normally done at 100,000km's was done by the previous owner at 81000km's - as in all the belts, the spark plugs, upgraded clutch (and while at it lightened flywheel), all fluids etc. $80 for all the stuff each 3-6months for 5000km services aint too bad, but is lot more than with a regular car you can use cheaper regular oil etc.. And yeah fuel of around 400-450kms around town is more than usual (and always premium 98 fuel). So I go through around $65-80 bucks a week on fuel. But always be sure to have cash aside in case need to fork over for any larger repairs. -
Sadly not. And also not in my car. Hopefully next time can take mine for a proper trip and test her out.

OMW to sydney tonight, catch ya's next time.
-
I saw the signs for that last time was up sydney way.
-
And then all the traffic gets offset (like during all the roadwork) and it becomes worse on other roads *sighs*

Yeh, keep taking your bike, slacker.
