1. I was gonna do the gear box and diff stuff at my brothers place. He is an apprentice at Ford in his final year, only a few months left. He has a S13 with an RB20 in it and was gonna do his fluids at the same time with me and borrow a pump from work to make it easier... Sounds like you guys have a huge group already!! Will read up on here on the procedures though!
2. Ahh, I see, well if i get the turbo installed for me can do all that at once. Is that info i mentioned above the turbo you are talking bout, what is the cos for it? Cheers
3. Hmmmm... That would make me buy the car less... Mine was well looked after and hardly driven. Yours is bout the age to rebuild any hoo... But i like to be prepared. Bought a new trolley jack and stands for doing work recently (inc oil change, but also changing my dif and gearbox oil in the next couple weeks) and hoping to have my boost controller back and installed by then).
4. This is what found elsewhere, is this the same? garret gt3076r BALL BEARING 60 TRIM COMPRESSOR 59.8mm Inducer / 76mm Exducer (Compressor) 60mm Exducer / 54.8mm Inducer (Turbine) Internal gated rear housing What price for it and how old and how much work has it done? I'm fairly keen
5. Pass me the details at the end of your research, i'll see how my budget is. Hope they are something i can install too...
6. What am i looking at for the right injectors, as can do them before do the computer, the Mines can compensate enough for now, and i was thinking bout the turbo upgrade. No intentions to go E85. I also dont want too big a turbo as i am not out for brute power, but quick fast spool and a little bit more punch, say max 18psi perhaps? How much for the turbo?? And how much work has it done? Would it be bolt on or require lotta mucking around, as i am keen to only get one that will bolt right in.
7. You should be hearing the solenoid. That is weird and freaky bout the unlimited boost. Glad you got it sorted and didnt break anything! Mine was giving me unlimited boost when i accidently mispiped it, had the wrong holes on the solenoid, but i was watching and paying attention cos was intending to set up the controller.
8. Cars should never blow if looked after, treated right and all regular maintenance done an schedul. I try to over do it if anything, esp when i have a car that i push a little. A rebuild should only be needed if the engine has been mistreated or pushed very hard, or you intend to push it hard and need things upgraded, replaced or refurbished... (or the engine is decently old). All the best with it dude, and your research for rebuilds and parts etc can come in handy for if i ever want or need to do the same someday!
9. Bit lost now lol. What is the turbo and how much you want for it, it is bolt on and what can it handle to run? I prob need better fuel injectors soon up, and a programable ect, since the mines one i have is limited....
10. What you selling Sin? Post link to your sale items.
11. He said it is surface mounted and a huge pain. Gizzmo however if i post it to them in vic can for $50 +ph.... so i prob will do that.... Just a real bitch.....
12. Ok, my mate who does a lot of work on circuits and electrical items opened it up and we did a bunch of tests with the unit and car and he believes a transistor is blown as only 0.26v goes out to the solenoid... which is why that was.not even enough to trigger a test light. Aside from that the unit is functioning, it just isn't sending enough power ta make the solenoid work (works as a gauge and the negative signal pulses then cuts when the unit is turned on, or air is blown in to the boost pipe, but it only triggers a 0.26v power from the unit).

15. Good plan!! SPOTTED a really nice black R33 on Hoskins St, out the front of Love Tires this morning as was heading to work. Nice Ride.
16. Yeah, what you said is right on, duty is the boost (percentage of the time the solenoid opens), and the gain how fast, and if gain is too high, then you will get spikes, but that is odd that can get the gain higher than the boost, but if it works it works... The guys at gizzmo and all the forums i read before got the unit say it will often be bout 3 or so below your duty, but some also said it wont be much above 20-30 gain... *shrugs* I wonder which reads off, the electronic gizzmo or the manual gauge... For you and for me as they both are different.... Opposite ways infact... Any hoo, i did some tests with an electrician friend of mine, the solenoid is fine, the unit is not sending a signal to the solenoid though, so regardless of my settings, it is not sending the pulse to activate the solenoid at all... And there is the issue... Now to see if can get my money back cos got it off here..... or if can get it repaired or if i'm now out $200..........
17. 30 duty and 40 gain? I was told the gain should never be above the duty or will just get lots of spikes, but cool cool, thanks for the info. I'm still running the stock S2 turbo, so aiming for 11 psi and a low boost of stock 6-7 psi. Cheers, will run some tests asap. Jase
18. BTW what sort of settings are you running on your unit and what levels of boost? Cheers
19. So i should led test the controller? Since the solenoid seems to work.... But can test that as mentioned above.
20. Sat morning prob works, will let you know if anyone else offers that is closer, but else sounds good. TA!
21. Can you explain more please?
22. Yeh hey Verms, may be good if you could take a bit of a look with me. Where bouts are you? Be good to see if i have all the things hooked up to the right places under the hood and all... This is the other response i put to a similar thread i put in the general section of the forum. I also put it here to see if someone could take a look over it with me. Cheers. Yes know the settings, was told to set the duty with the gain on 0 then roll it up til it spikes then take it back 2-3 steps. However i have also tried with more duty, and decent level of gain. And nothing. The solenoid appears to work as tested it with power at the solenoid and even did a blow pressure test to see that it changes ports. I also power tested it from the unit ends socket. And it clicks over still. I am pretty positive i have the pipes on the right ports, that the stock solenoid had already been removed from the car and that it is using the right lines from the manifold to the actuator. The unit seems to be powered right as i can set it up, use the scramble button (to change through memories) and use it as a boost gauge (it seems to read 0.8psi higher than the good quality manual one i have still got installed also. I spoke to Ray a little, but he seems a little more reluctant to help as i have a second hand unit that i was doing the install of rather than an autoelectrician or garage. I feel it is all installed right, but some one checking it over for me may be good as i may have done something simple wrong.... This is what Ray last told me "try cranking the duty up to 90 and if the boost doesn't rise hold power on the solenoid (whilst disconnected from the unit) and SLOWLY and CAREFULLY roll power on to see if the boost goes up. If not you'll have a mech fault", so next week will get a mate at work to help me make up a switch where can slowly wind in power into the solenoid from the unit end wire harness and see if that works so i know if the unit is not controlling the solenoid or if the solenoid just is not functioning.....
23. Dammit, I just typed a response and had the browser crash. This is most of what I said. 24. I got this second hand via SAU, there is a small chance something is wrong with it, even if was working fine for the previous owner... Things happen during tranit, car getting smashed, removal from old car, re-installation in to net car ect. Ok so after some dramas, got it installed. At first the solenoid was setup wrong, and I had some wiring issues... Still not 100% happy with the wiring, but it should be ok (due to how was cut when removed before, and me having to reattach bits). And also some hassles with the boost gauge pressure line (still want to check and see if another spot that wanted to attach it is a good or bad choice or not too...but for now it is on the same spot the stock one comes off.

But so at first when the solenoid was wrong, there was no boost limiting, but i had aimed to start low, so worked it out as soon as went above stock boost (it has 3 ports, but you only use 2 at a time - 2 and 3 for internal wastegate, and 1 and 2 for external). Now that have the solenoid right, it boosts at stock levels. I then set each of the 6 memory slots with duty cycles 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 (min is 10 max is 90, and read boost shouldnt increase until bout 20), yet at all 6 settings (With gain set to 0 as i have read everywhere, until i get my desired boost, then to slowly raise it until i begin to get a spike or overboost and then take it back a couple), i was still only getting stock boost. I have tested the solenoid worked, from both the solenoid end and the units wiring loom. It clicks, and i've also tested blowing through one port, putting power to it and seeing that the air flow diverts to the other port, which it does. I have been told by the previous owner and confirmed with Gizzmo, that the solenoid has no specif positive and negative (both wires from it are grey), so i've not hooked it up backwards. Maybe i still have something setup wrong? I can post pics if needed.

Advice, info, or someone in Canberra with the ability to have a look at it all with me?

Cheers
