  2. OK where did you hear that? A remap is permanant. I'm running a much larger turbo,FMIC, 550cc RX7 injectors and a Z32 afm all on a stock ecu I remapped well over 12 months ago. An ecu will self learn to a point but it has a base map to start from which is what people change in a remap. Self learn is mainly ignition timing in a selected part of the map and some minor fueling in the closed loop area of the map. Other than that it will run what is is programmed/remapped to.
  3. Stage one cam 256 deg 8.5 mm lift (tomei) would help no mater the turbo but you wouldn't need to change the valve springs for this cam. If you wanted to intall the high flowed rb20 turbo the cam would be only benificial but not a necessity. In the end you will still need a remap/tune. Regardless of the turbo you go with. A stock r32 ecu is fairly easy to remap for someone in the know.
  4. Stick the high fllow on. Run about one bar and you will see some good gains indeed. With a good tune of course. And change you cat to a better one. Anymore than that and you'll find your injectors/afm will be on the max.
  5. The rb20det rods appear to a fair bit shorter than the rb30 rods so I would say they could probs take a fair bit more of a hideing than the RB30 rods.
  6. Remeber the stroke of an Rb20 is fairly short so revs is not such a big problem. Shot peeing rods deos increase the strength of the rod considerbly. As for them being able to take 520rwhp. That doesn't suprise me but I would have to see it to believe it. How do the stock RB20DET Rods compare in size to the RB26DETT rods? (other than the length)
  7. Just make sure you have the japanese text support installed on the pc or rom editor will goe all screwy.

  9. That bin file from RB20det.com is my stock bin file from my 92 r32. Its version is MEC-R212B and it does work in earlier version 1989 R32 ecu's aswell. Look at the http://forum.ztechz.net/ lot of stuff there that can help you out.
  10. You might want to get them shot peened and I would say they would be fine for 300kws@ treads.
  11. Ok the map tracing wont work on early versions of the R32 MEC-r126 ecu but It does with the 92 model Mec-r212 B. I'll check those numbers later on when I get home. Well anyway you got the idea.
  12. I built my own usb consult cable. (being a tech has advantages at times ) I've used conzult free version and I have used the datascan and I find the data scan to be the best for my application. Though I would love to get my hands on the full conzult software. I haven't really done much with the datalogging yet just mainly used it for its map tracing etc.
  13. I had an RB25 turbo and a blitz front mount and I was running 16 psi with a stock ecu. (R32 GTS-T) As long as your fuel pump is ok and up to flowing the extra fuel needed you should be fine. just be weary about the pump as this is how I lost my 1st motor. You may find the fuel cut in second / third every so often. Especially if its cold. With the stock ecu you will probs see afr's round the high 10's to low 11's up in the revs depending on the boost u run. As for power you will probs see anyhere between 140 to 160 rwkws.   14. The blitz kit will only require trimming of the front bar/spoiler. The hks kit will require trimming of the front bar/spoiler and a whole to be cut for the drivers side intercooler pipe.(This will allow the piping to enter the engine bay)
  15. I dunno how restrictive the 180 deg bend is at the drivers side of the cooler is though? If you ask me both coolers are a much of a muchness.

  17. I think if u measured the piping it would be the same volume as the other kits. Doubt there would be much diffrerence there.
  18. I have a blitz one and I found it to do the job just fine. Best thing is it looks stock still in the engine bay.
  19. Ok Just had a look at my old crown wheel and it had 48:11 stamped on so thats 4.363 ratio. R32 GTSt Type M.
  20. Well I noticed a crack on mine just 2 days ago. Its right at the top of th manifold so I'm lucky it doesn't need to come off the car.(Very minor hiarline crack) Engineering workshop said it will be a peice of cake to fix using a tig. When I get a new turbo some time next year I think I'll take the advice from T04GTR and get it ceramic coated in and out wile the turbo is off.

  22. Ok all a mines ecu is is a remapp of the standard unit. If you wanna read the map u can use consult with the appropriate software and it can download the chips data to the laptop or pc. I did this with my mates GTR which had a mines ecu. As for then retuning it you better off getting your hands on another ecu and socketing that one as the mines ecus have the eprom glued in as mentioned earlier.
  23. I bought one from ssautocrome. Plenty of support brackets and its seemed to have good quality welds etc. No crap inside of the unit and I no trouble intalling it. Has anyone else got one of these? Cost me a little under 500 delivered with a split dup aswell. Does anyone know much about this company at all.

  25. Thanx for the info Sydneykid. I'll go the fronts to start with and probs get the rears once ive settled into the sydney life next year. Anyway time to order the fronts.
