  1. These are pics when it was on the car i'll get some recent ones later.

By the way i was talking about stock engines. gibson racing team ? they most likley have forged pistons in their which can handle detination an they proberly have it tuned right, but with the standard ecu, internals, intercooler etc: you'r got more chance of looseing a piston then a rubilt motor. thats why i mentioned it beause guilty beause he's got a stock engine. which means its at more risk of detination etc: that's a cheap pump i'd be going fuel pump then front mount then avc-r... my advice!
  3. Ok then their isent a fault. the moral of the story get a fuel pump before cranking the boost to 13psi so the a/f mixtures are good. (12:1) especially with an avc-r because it holds boost really well.
  4. its not a joke and thats what we thought moisture when we first seen it but couple weeks later it got worse and wose.... it smells like burning oil... i'll post a pic of what happens when piston number 6 doesnt have compression, it leaks oil and goes throught the turbo intecooler, actuator, intake etc: and when it goes throught the turbo the turbo is hot and it burn is which makes white smoke out the exhaust.
  5. yeh its not a HUGE fault but it is.. i was told this by a mechanic. the reason why i'm comparing them is because of the 2 different intake manifolds
  6. let me tell you this, the first sympton of your pistons on its way out is white smoke coming from the exhaust.
  7. im just trying to help him aswell as he's new to the skyline thing (i think?) and its the wrost feeling when your driving a Sht!b0x camary and you see holdens, silvias etc going past you !!!! and its not a cheap exercise to get it fixed either...
  8. ??? i didnt say anything about mixing RB25/26 intake manifold ? i know their a different design thats what nissan built the new design because the RB25 intake manifold had a fault ? im just going off what i've seen and heard. i havent seen to many Rb26's blow piston number 6 but i've seen a fair few rb25's go its usally piston number 6....
  9. i was surposto say RB26 factory... yeh i dont get it either... it was running 30:1 and it was running sweet didnt detinate or ping from what we could hear any way... because usally you can hear it and i was right next to the engine when it was getting run. (it was dyno dynamics)
  10. Its a manual boost controller. by turning the silver dial you can control the boost pressure, its called a bleed valve because it bleeds off boost.
  11. Noo.. thats why it was on the dyno.. to measure a/f ratios. After we left we turned boost down to 10psi for safety... also that fault that came from a mechanic. the heat up on the northen topics doesnt help.
  12. what do you mean by bad tuning ? both cars have standard ecu's ? the car with the shot rings had done 160klm on clock but the nismo dash only had 60,000kmls on the clock and the first rb25 had 95,000 so after a really hard thrashed life their were on their way out any way so it just had to happen as we brought it. i was talking about the RB26 plenum (greddy) not the RB25 ? "also, with a front facing plenum say RB26, the air would be rammed right to the back first so that throws out the back cylinder dying from not enough air.." ??? im talking about RB25 plenum... thats why i was saying that their a slight fault with the RB25 one... read the previous posts "HoeTrain" Thats the current process at the moment both engines are getting rebuilds with fogies and rods etc.
  13. The nos would of cooled the engine down heaps which would have stoped it from getting to hot... an melting pistons etc: also the photos were its broken the rings my brother brought that car with it like that already and we didnt know intill it went bang.
  14. poor tuning ? with the standard ecu ? put it this way, the rb25 in the frist 2 pics we had that car dynoed and at 12psi it was 12:1 -14:1 a/f ratios but at 14psi it was 30:1 leaning out big time. that was on bleede valve and then we just hooked up the avc-r and took it for a strap and it was running 11 - 12psi exact boost on boost guage and the avc-r. when we had the bleede valve hooked up full boost was at 5000rpm an when we put the avc-r in it was full boost at 3000 all way to redline. which caused it to over heat etc...

Road... soon as it melted it start running like hairy goat burr bup blup burr.... couldnt bring it on boost had to stay under 2500rpm... it leans out and gets to hot... its the design of the plenum because of the way it seperates the air from the throttle body unlike a greddy plenum were it has seperate butterflys for each cylinder.... simpily number 6 runs the hottest as you said and because its at the back it doesnt really start working intill high up in the Rpm rang which is when its really hot... the standard plenum is not the full blame but is part of the problem... as well as detination/leaning out.. not anough fuel etc:
  16. I got a GTR front bar for sale. (none plastic) Its from a R33 GTST. It has been resprayed and Repaired. The colour of the bar is silver. excellent condition. I will be posting pics later this week. asking $500ono any questions PM me. Thanks, Cameron

The first 2 pics, that R33 gtst RB25 we found out that i had a R34 gtt turbo which has a plastic front wheel an it had a steel exhaust wheel. being plastic it sucks a lot harder which causes bigger air flow. thats part of the reason piston number 6 melted. and the last 3 photos that R33 rb25det had a highflow standard turbo which was able to flow more air which caused piston number 6 to go bang due to running too much boost... (both these have avc-r's)
  18. i know it may be different to with his car but we ran 12 psi throught an avc-r and melted piston number 6 as you'll see in these next pics their are 2 different Rb25's here. the reason i said run lower boost is because an avc-r runs propper boost really hard unlike a bleed valve which doesn't hold it as good... about the fault its not really a really common one but its the design of it thats why with the Rb26 they change to the plenum style intake.
  19. Consider we have proof x2 i meant that it starved of fuel... to much air thats what happens when you run too much boost because the standard fuel pump injectors carnt keep up.... i'll post some pics

Hi, Were doing a project and rebuilding the standard RB25 bottom end with forgies and rods etc: but were putting a RB26 head on. will this fit ? and whats involved in connecting it up eg: wiring loom is it different to the RB25 (coil packs etc) any other obstucals that we should look out for ? I've shoped at greenline. an will be shopping at nengun soon aswell. the best time to shop is when the yen goes up. you can watch it on the currency converter eg: 200,000.00 JPJapan Yen = 2,490.60 AUD Australia Dollars ---------------------------------------------------------- 1 JPY = 0.0124530 AUD 1 AUD = ((80.3021 JPY)) ----------------------------------------------------------- The part i got in brackets is the how many jp yen to 1 aussie dollar. its fairly reasionable at the moment...
  22. its got good kilometers on it. The RB25 has a fault with the intake manifold and if you run too much boost piston number 6 tends to starve and leans out. which casues it to go bang... but this general happens as the car is coming up to the 100k mark & has had a hard previous life. in your case your car is still fairly new an i would once you get the boost controller (avc-r) fitted put it on a dyno and play around with the boost and monitor the a/f ratios. if they start to lean out turn boost down etc: but i would say 10 - 12 psi is safe.
  23. I would say get a front mount first to get the cold air into your engine. i dunno about the loosing boost but it help the engine breath alot easier. If your going to get an avc-r i wouldnt run 13psi throught it. How many klms has your car done ?
