Hey guys, I'm wanting to buy a type x 180 and had found a perfect example. I have not bought the car yet but can see now it has no manufacture/ build plate (silver one in the engine bay). The one that says engine number, paint colour, transmission etc. Is this an issue? It has the pink compliance sticker and engraved Vin and it all checks out ok when I do a REVS report. Is it a legal requirement? I supposed I'm now wondering why it wouldn't be there as every japcar iv had has had this. Thanks in advance

Was a nice night for a drive, very neat 33 sedan I must say! Spotted a s13 near the plaza and exchanged waves on Sunday about 2pm. Also was driving next to a mint s14 s2 maroon along Lyons road and then lower north east.

Nah I didnt. I just used a tea towell/microfibre cloth while it was dry to get rid of all the black powder and then washed it and there is nothing remaining.

I got a good alarm installed 2 weeks ago by George on my 34 and also got a club with 'apparent' cover (i.e they pay your excess if it gets stolen with the club lock on - 1 year from the purchase). The same guy wont come back, but who knows the number of skyline theifs walking around. Glad you got it back mate - I'm sure it will all smooth out. Look 4 or 8 weeks into the future and you will forget the car was even stolen!! At the end of the day my excess was going to be $3000 if I made a claim on mine (due to age, higher premium, theft cover, under 25 bla bla bla all BS), so you might come out better off in the end.

Hey mate mine was stolen on 26th and found the morning of hte 27th. I ended up getting it back on the Wednesday (so 6 days but over a weekend). It was annoying because we got the run around for days about this copper signing the form as he was duty and didnt check his emails every day. They also told me it was not ready but I had a message from the policeman saying that the car had been ready since Monday and that he had tried to contact me and my girlfriend when he didnt. Just make sure you get on your back if your really keen to get it out. You wont have to pay any towing of the car that the police did at all. I didnt get any compensation - I was really lucky and it was only the ignition and a mate had one lying around for a good price (and a new GOOD alarm). They found no prints or anything in my car so they just gave it back to me with that black powder shit everywhere... Did they say your drivers window was gone? because they told me mine was gone but the guy stole the car by pushing the window down so your passanger window should still be there. I know its hard not to worry with it sitting there and not being able to see it but it might come out without that much damage if he was planning on re using the parts on his - just think positive!

God there is some scum in this world. I wonder if he’s behind any more of the cars going missing around town? Good news you got it back though, hopefully it’s not too painful getting it running again. Regarding the compliance plate, does that write the vehicle off or do SAPOL just not worry about that (I'm hoping they dont)? Just when mine was stolen a few weeks ago I had to check compliance plate and sticker straight away and if it’s ripped off then its voided (just what I told).

Hey mate, My colleague at work just showed me a picture of a r34 silver 4 door burnt out in the seaford area in a reserve across the road from his house. He said its been there for 2 days now - its got no wheels and its all stripped - I will post a pic when I can (hes sending it through) Hopefully not your mates but looks identical.

Hey guys just an update: Got my car back from Ottoway compound. Car had half a tank of fuel (had nothing when it was stolen) but seemed ot only travel about 20km as per my speedo. They initially told me that the window had been smashed so that was a bit annoying. Me and my mate picked it up, started it with the trusty screw driver and to my amazement while I was driving my drivers window closed when I hit the button! Basically they ripped my weather shield off, pushed my window down and then snapped the ignition. They also tried to rip my CD player out so the aircon controls are broken and my gear surrond is on the back seat but still everything works fine. I was also worried about the compliance plate and the papers from my glove box being tampered with but they were all there (compliance paper was scrunched up though?). I'm a very lucky guy - the car drives just like it did and the tyres have full tread still. There was no damage to the outside at all and the inside got off pretty well too. PS - the wig issue in the car ended up being my missus hair extensions packet (nice on SAPOL) Thought id let everyone know. Thanks again for everyones help! Alex

Was that a r32 gtr? I heard someone got a snap of the guy in that car. But yep may be right regarding the wig. I have heard rumors of someone up Salisbury North way stealing cars (with the keys) and reselling the whole package. Dont know the truth behind it though. That red stag that was stolen from Mt Barker also had a wig in it but was involved in a armed robbery. Anyone know how long forensics takes? Or is it a long ass process? Thanks all for your support - lets not allow these scum people to ruin our fun!!

Hey Guys I got a call at 6:30am saying that the car had been found dumped at ottoway. Currently in forensics so dont know when I can go see it. Apparently looks ok from outside and still has the wheels (thank god) but ignition barrel is ripped out and front drivers window is gone and something about the aircon (maybe head deck has been ripped). They found a wig in the car aswell, so you can only guess what they were using it for.. Will keep you all posted - Thanks again!

Tell me about it Carbon - first thing that came to my head when it was gone this morning was that it would end up on the track or interstate, so I'm not getting my hopes up at all. Absent - Nah mine was taken from Rostrevor, the other guys 4 door was Happy Valley. I'v learnt my lesson that an alarm and immobiliser wont stop these people. Its now becoming a once a day occurance in Adelaide, Sad really. Just thank god I have insurance!
